This is another brilliant story from Linwood Barclay. When a mysterious woman causes a scene in a normally quiet street, it sends ripples and unease through the whole town.

Six years ago, Brie Mason went missing when her husband was away on a fishing trip. She hasn’t been found, and the suspicion that he had been responsible for her disappearance had never gone away. Andy Mason had sold up and moved and found a new life.

But when a woman turns up, where their house had been, causing quite a scene, the neighbours could have sworn that it was Brie. More sightings of her were being reported to the police throughout the town. Then she disappeared again. Brie’s family needed to know if it was her, and the police needed to close this case once and for all. It wasn’t good news for Andy.

It is an edgy story from the start. Could this be the missing woman? Why had she disappeared, and where had she been. People who saw her were convinced it was Brie, but it was like the six years hadn’t existed to her. The story opens up more as her family get to know about the sightings, and how the relationship of each of them was with her.

The tension escalates as the hunt for Brie grows, and I have to say that the last few chapters sent me in a spin. Wow, this is a little belter! As the story goes back and forth between characters, my mind was updating every Jenga piece of mystery before everything came crashing down.

It is a great story, blown away with the ending.

I wish to thank Net Galley and the publisher for an e-copy of this book that I have reviewed honestly.

Full of twists that keeps you reading till the end with a great ending.
Andrew came back from a fishing trip with his friend to find his wife Brie has disappeared, everyone believes he has killed her even police detective Hardy tried hard to prove it but couldn`t.
After his life had spiralled down and moving house so no one knows him he finally begins to get better six years later with a new relationship and settled down.
Then a woman turns up at his old house where a new house is built, screaming where is her old house.
Everyone believes its Brie come back, so if it is where has she been.
The police start to investigate the case again with the help of Brie`s family who have also seen her.
Love all the twists couldn`t put it down.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This author never disappoints!! The opening scene suggest that something terrible has happened to a young woman alone in her house; the story then continues years later, with her husband getting on with his life despite the constant suspicion that he was involved in his wife’s disappearance. Truly could not put this down. Such a brilliant opening chapter and then so many twists and turns. This book is brilliant, really well written, good story which kept me interested from the beginning. Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Linwood Barclay knows how to write a page turner! Each chapter flips between characters, giving you an insight into each one while planting thoughts and twists to keep you guessing. And each chapter ends at a crucial point so you really can’t put the book down! Thoroughly enjoyable!

Another brilliant book from the brilliant Linwood Barclay.
6 years ago Brie disappeared from her home while her husband Andrew was away at their cabin with a friend. Despite denying any involvement in her disappearance the lead detective and her sister never believed Andrew’s version of events .
Six years on new relationships have been established but doubts remain over what happened.
Suddenly out of the blue Brie reappears and everyone’s world is turned upside down again.
The book had me engrossed from the first page. Lots of twists along the way to make the reader doubt certain people’s innocence.
Very suspenseful and nail biting towards the end with an unexpected final twist. Linwood Barclay at his finest.

A classy, fast paced thriller from one of my favourite authors Linwood Barclay. Twist filled, the characters are well written and the story swept me along to an ending I did not predict. Many thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

It’s been quite a few years since I read a Linwood Barclay novel, but Take Your Breath Away was exactly as I remembered them. Ordinary people thrown in the midst of a quite baffling situation in a multilayered story where at the end every subplot ties together nicely.

Six years ago Brie Mason went into thin air from her home. Her husband Andrew was away for the weekend, but was that just a way to get an alibi? Detective Marissa Hardy is convinced he killed her and disposed of her body, but with no evidence, he goes on with his life. Now, looks like Brie is back. Several sightings of a woman looking like her will unleash a chain reaction of unexpected consequences.

The premise was fantastic! That first scene of the woman going back to her old home was quite chilling. After a great start, the pace hit a lull in the middle, to then pick up again in the last third where things got a bit crazy (but super entertaining!).

Having several subplots and different characters POVs didn’t allow for any dull moment. The story is full of twists and turns and, although I guessed the whodunnit, there were still plenty of surprises I didn’t predict. It was shocking how such a small gesture (in appearance) done in good faith, could have such big consequences.

A strong plot, a nice array of well characterized characters and a whole lot of twists and turns that will keep you guessing, make of Take Your Breath Away a highly entertaining novel. I have a couple more of his books on my shelves and will definitely get to them sooner rather than later.

Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Andrews wife disappeared six years ago. He was a suspect but the police could never prove his involvement. Now he is happy with Jayne and they live with her brother Tyler. Suddenly there are reports that his wife had surfaced. Eager to prove his innocence he tries to track her down. Lots of twists and turns in this fast paced novel. I found the first few pages slow but then I was hooked!

Yet another master piece from Linwood Barclay as usual
An absolute page turner of a thriller.
Grabbed me early doors and kept my attention all the way through.
One of those books that was devoured over the course of two evenings.
Found myself always just wanting to read one more chapter before retiring for the evening. A sure fire sign of a great read.

Linwood Barclay really is up there as a thriller writer. Take Your Breath away was an incredible read. Six years after Andrew Mason's wife Brie has gone missing, she apparently turns up at their home only to find it razed to the ground and another family living there. And so begins the nightmare for everyone who had moved on. The originality of the plot is pretty unique in these times when you think you've read every thriller formula. There is the gay detective who always assumed Andrew was involved and was determined to nail him at any cost. His missing wife's family who hauled him through the legal system in a civil case and then there is his relationship with his new partner and her troubled teen brother - both have secrets in their lives too. Is Brie really back and what happened to her during those six years? Honestly this is such an engrossing read, with a supremely brilliant original plot, flawed and entirely believable characters. LOVED IT.

Another fantastic thriller from the master of suspense. I was so excited to read this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I could not put it down. A must read.

t’s been some time since I’ve read a Linwood Barclay book, but Take Your Breath Away reminded me what I have been missing - I was hooked from the start and I raced through it. With multiple narrators there was lots going on and it kept me guessing right to the end, never quite knowing who to trust or who was telling the truth.

Six years ago Brie Mason disappeared while her husband Andy was on a fishing trip. Andy has always been the obvious suspect but with no body and insufficient evidence nothing has been proved. Andy has moved on - new name, new partner and new life - but when a woman who looks like Brie reappears his life threatens to unravel.

It’s a fast paced, gripping thriller with an ending I didn’t see coming and proved why Barclay is a master of his craft - and he has been added to my list of must-read authors.

I’m sorry to say I am really disappointed with this book. I expected so much from reading the synopsis. It isn’t moving along fast enough for me and the characters haven’t grabbed my attention. I’m abandoning it after getting half way through it. I guess I chose poorly this time.

Thanks to Netgalley and HQ, an imprint of HarperCollins.

Lindwood Barclay can surely writes thriller that keeps you turning pages as fast as you can and this one is no exceptiong.
Compelling, riveting, fast paced, full of twists that surprised me.
The characters are fleshed out, the different subplots were well developed and never confusing.
I tried to guess but always failed.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Linwood Barclay has produced a good thriller that will keep you interested from one chapter to the next. It is written in that same style as any number of books available from the likes of Jeffery Deaver, Harlan Coben or Dean Koontz.

Take Your Breath Away by Linwood Barclay is an exciting contemporary thriller that had me guessing from the start.
It has an intricately constructed plotline that has the reader and the characters questioning what really did happen six years earlier? There is a search for the truth.
I tried to guess the perpetrator – I guessed twice – and was wrong on both accounts – again! I really am no good at solving crimes!
The action came thick and fast in this brilliant roller coaster thriller of a read.
We meet a family where everyone seems to have secrets. Some eventually come to light, others remain buried.
I thoroughly enjoyed Take Your Breath Away. Linwood Barclay is an excellent author who always entertains me. I love his books.
I received a free copy via Net Galley. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
