This was my first time reading a book from the author but I am delighted to say I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I look forward to reading more books from the writer in the future

I absolutely loved The Man who Didn't Call so was delighted when I saw that this author had released another novel after quite a long break. Wow this novel was emotional and packed some punches in a way I did not expect it to. Wonderful book I would recommend to others.

This is my first by Rosie Walsh and it won't be my last. This book read in roughly 36 hours. I was just gripped. The tale of intrigue had me hooked. It was a really easy, super consumable read. I had an element of smugness in guessing almost immediately that the key thing in the book that changes the course of everything wasn't what it seemed. did feel like there's a bit too much packed into this (Jill's revelation? Absolutely not needed) and it felt a little chaotic at times. I didn't get thriller vibes either although that's what it's listed as. Felt much more domestic saga. That said, l'd still say it's worth a read and I'm pretty confident I'm in the minority with only liking it and not loving it. This will definitely be a book club favourite.

Rosie Walsh is the mistress of the unexpected twist, and once again she managed to completely and utterly outfox me with this book.

It was wonderful, I loved seeing how the layers unravelled until you are finally left with the truth.

I loved Leo and Emma's love story, but even more so, I loved seeing the layers of deception, and discovering alongside Leo, the truth about Emma's past.

After all how well do you really know your wife. Can you really be sure there aren't some massive secrets to be uncovered.

Once this book got going it ramped up until I just had to keep reading and reading to find out what would happen next.

It was fabulous.

Thank you to Mantle and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This was a peculiar story and nothing like what I was expecting. It was a real mish-mash of genres with the end results being a tad messy as a result. The plot was a bit all over the place and I found myself getting frustrated with how boring the first 50% was. It does improve in the second half which is what pulled my rating up from two stars but it still didn't become anything overly special.
A bit of a disappointment but the second half of the book saved it for me. I don't think I'll be rereading this one anytime soon.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This was a pleasant read. It led to directions I didn't quite expect when I started the book (which was good), however at the same time, it felt a little drifting in places and I really struggled to connect to the characters, in particular to Emma.

Thank you to the publisher and to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest and impartial review.

Told from dual perspectives. Leo is in an obituary writer; when his wife Emma has brief dalliance with illness.
The more Leo composes this obituary the more he realises he doesn’t know the real Emma. He begins to try and find out the truth.

A very cleverly written story with lots of twists and turns. It would be hard to categorise this book in to just one genre. It starts as contemporary fiction, turning to mystery/thriller and ends with a women’s fiction vibe.

A very compelling read.

The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh is a book that’s almost impossible to categorise neatly. I’ll go with kind of mystery/romance perhaps, packed full of twists, turns and revelations and it made me shed a tear or two!

This one starts off fairly slowly but by the middle of the book I really struggled to put it down. It got me wondering about how much we really know anyone… could the people closest to you have any skeletons hiding in their closets?!

Though it’s quite different to The Man Who Didn’t Call, I think I enjoyed The Love of My Life almost as much. With the same sense of intrigue and tender writing, Walsh is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.

There are plenty of trigger warnings in here, which are potentially huge spoilers so I won't write them here, just a word of caution.

A story told from two perspectives - Emma and Leo - over different time periods. The story is well written with well developed characters. Leo is an obituary writer and secretly begins to write his wife Emma's when she falls ill. Some things don't add up and the more he looks, the less he feels he knows her. I did enjoy this particularly as the mystery begins to unfold.

I felt very invested in the main characters relationship so was thankful to get such an insight thanks to the dusk POV. A definite page turner for me

Gripping and clever! I devoured this one. The characters were excellent and felt very real. High paced, twisty turny thriller!

Emma, a marine biologist is married to Leo, an obituary writer and they have a daughter, Ruby. Emma has had a recent cancer diagnosis which is concerning everyone. Leo is devoted to Emma and his family. Emma is a hoarder and one evening Leo discovers a bag of papers in a room in their house that forces him to start questioning his wife and her past.Very clever and highly recommended. 😊👍

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Pan Macmillan, Mantle via NetGalley and this is my own unbiased opinion.

I’m not sure what I was expecting when I picked up “The Love of My Life” but I was thoroughly and pleasantly surprised. We follow the story through the perspective of Leo - an obituary writer - and his wife Emma, who is awaiting an update on her cancer diagnosis. Preparing for possible bad news, Leo begins drafting Emma’s obituary but uncovers some secrets in her past he was yet unaware of. As he delves further into her past, Leo learns more about the woman he thought he knew in and out.

I loved the almost thriller style angle of this as secrets became uncovered and Leo learnt just how much his wife had hidden from him. I tore through the last third of the book as I was dying to know how it would all end. This was my first Rosie Walsh book but I look forward to reading more from her.

A very complex book of Emma and Leo and a plot so incredibly bonkers it kept me guessing until the reveal, which isn’t what I expected at all.

From the first page of this, I was really put off as it was feeling rather pretentious with sentences like liminal place, middens of sheep droppings and rain drummed on the roof like gunfire. However, I stuck with it and I am glad I did. It didn't continue on this path of pretentiousness, and soon became a quite original and touching story.

I really enjoyed the premise, and after the first couple of pages, I enjoyed the writing style, flitting between the two main characters.

I would recommend this book.

I finally listened to the audio arc of the book and this review si based on that experience.
I read a book by the author quite early in my blogging journey, and although it is not highly rated online, I found it brilliant. I read that in the physical version and loved the suddenness of things. I wanted to try this book out solely due to my prior experience with the author.
The author has a distinct writing style. She blurs the lines between a thriller and a 'women's fiction' for the lack of a better word to use. It is entirely obvious that the story narrated to us is not the whole truth. The question then is if an unreliable narrator is being used or if it's just the facts presented in that manner.
My biggest problem with this book was the length. I heard it on audio, and the narrators did a splendid job of setting the mood. Emma has an interesting career path. She is a relatively new mother, and her husband is extremely devoted to her. His career as an obituary writer was something new as well! Emma has had a repeat health scare in the beginning, and things start to spiral out of control with regard to the secrets that she has been holding close. Information is drip-fed to us over multiple days, and as things get from bad to worse, I was able to quite accurately guess the final twist. There are several, and I must admit one or two hoodwinked me till their reveal. The narrators' voices and their style, along with the general writing style of the author, are what carried the book for me. The final reveal was more than a little dissatisfying for someone like me (I so badly wanted to be wrong). I would not recommend this book over the other, but I will be picking up anything else the author writes.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my reading/listening experience of this and another book by the author.

I loved the previous book by this author and this one was no different, this was very well written, emotional and powerful and I would highly recommend it

This book is absolutely stunning! Such rich characters, smooth dialogue and more than enough tension to keep you glued to the pages! Rosie Walsh can do no wrong!

The Love of My Life is a very cleverly written book that has you hooked and engrossed from the first page, with the all consuming need to know more and see how it all ends, and just who is Emma?

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
