Tightly written, well plotted novel that will have you looking around at your nearest and dearest and wondering what is going on in their minds. Thanks to Netgalley for the review copy.

Sadly this book didn’t fulfill the blurb. None of the characters were likeable, which for me I find diffuse to engage with the plot when I don’t care what happens. Four couples go on a holiday of a lifetime to Corfu and bad things happen - seems a familiar plot line to the myriad of books being published this summer. I finished it but didn’t enjoy it. The overzealous keeping up with her richer friends was irritating and the female characters were quite frankly caricatures.

Incisive and dramatic, a take on friendships and belonging in the beautiful atmosphere of the Greek isles.
Everything is toxic and everything is thrilling.

Brilliant

This book was a great summer read! A fantastic book to read by the pool on holiday. I really enjoyed the style of writing and the storyline. The hours reading this slipped away so easily, always the sign of a great, captivating book!
Thank you to Julie Mayhew, NetGalley and Bloomsbury Publishing Plc for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is a great summer read about a group of women and their friendships. But be warned don’t read this if you are on holiday with a group of your female friends !!

Liv became best friends with Beth and Binnie after meeting at a local Mommy & Me Playgroup. They worked through the new parent problems together and met up regularly for meals at each other’s houses etc. But then Ange is introduced to the group and the dynamics of their friendship group is changed. Liv feels as though she is being pushed out of the group and her money troubles only add to her problems.

If you love a good female drama with lots of focus on friendships then you will love this book. Liv is a great character and the ups and downs of her holiday make a great summer read.

Thank you to Raven Books and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.

An interesting read into the dynamics of women's relationships. The characters were really well-written and the story line kept me gripped. Recommended.

A good read with credible characters and relatable situations, the story hooked me in and ensured I stayed with it to the end.

As a side note, having two central characters with similar sounding names is a bit confusing, when you are settling into the story and cast.

Good story. Recommend

This book follows Liv and her group of “best” friends Beth, Binnie and ange as they take a three-week holiday with their respective families in Corfu. Liv had always struggled to make friends but when she had her daughter Ivy she built a bond with Beth and Binnie and things were great until ange joined their circle and she started to feel like an outsider again.
This holiday was planned as a comeback tour for Liv and Peter her husband as they had been going through a rough patch in their lives but as the book progresses we find out there were other motivations for the trip and Liv starts to draw back from the group with dramatic consequences.
The book is told entirely from Liv’s point of view and it’s a bit of a slow burn at the start as we get all the backstory from her perspective but the second half really takes off to become a dark and tesen thriller as we learn how far she will go to be accepted by her friends. Overall, a perfect holiday read!

I really connected with Liv at the start and for most of the way through this. It was a bit of a playground rules storyline but I could imagine this happening in real life. The ending was a little farfetched and didn't have the happy ending I was expecting.

I would definitely read another by this author

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
The description of this book indicates that there are sections from the past, describing how the relationship between the women is built as well as what is happening currently. The ARC I received clearly needed editing with many grammatical errors, and I accept that this may have been corrected before final publication but I found there were no distinctions between the past and present so it felt as though the narrative jumped about and was difficult to follow. By the time I had read 15% I realised that the characters were completely unrealistic in my experience (extreme drunkenness and strong language) and I did not want to read any more, so it has joined my 'did not finish' pile.

A story about toxic friendships and bitterness with the backdrop of Corfu and a family holiday. Intriguing book

Little Nothings by Julie Mayhew
What a page turner. From the outset I was gripped. This is the story of four families who head off for an idyllic holiday on the island of Corfu…The narrator of the story is Liv, who is on the periphery of this group, although she really only realises how much as the days of the holiday go by. This is the story of how competitive some friendships can be, especially amongst women. From having the newest kitchen to how much their spouses are earning this story is all about peer pressure, manipulation, dominance, call it what you will but, this tale has it in spades. It builds nicely to a perfect peak with quite a satisfying ending. Many thanks to #NetGalley for my copy of this book. I would give this story 4⭐️

This was a twisty book, it started off a little slow and then picked up the pace further on. I liked most of this book. I wasn’t that keen on the characters were seemed to be very self obsessed with themselves. On the whole this was a good read. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I was not taken with this book it was well written and certainly a bit dark.

Liv is friends with Beth & Binnie she has never had proper friends until then. Along comes Ange who seems to take over things and seems not to be nice to Liv. They end up in Greece on holiday for 3 weeks with all the husbands and children.

It was interesting how they all interacted with each other. It kept you guessing what was going to happen.

I have to be honest and own up that I skimmed this book rather than really read it. That was because the synopsis made it sound quite promising but the execution just a repeat of quite a few other books I’ve read along the same lines.
I gave it my full attention for the first quarter but no characters engaged in fact the6 more enraged.

A story set in the backdrop of Corfu, what’s not to like about that. A perfect summer to read to whisk you away.

Some people find it hard to make friends, this is the case with Liv Travers it’s something she has struggled with all her life, she was never popular at school being left out, and nothing changed once she was an adult. That is until she met two ladies at baby group Beth and Binnie. Finally she met two ladies who became her friends the three together were thick as thieves. Then along comes another lady Ange who is confident, she is good at everything, she becomes the focal point of the group. Up something for Liv changed, but what?

When Ange suggests the four families go on holiday together to Corfu, in an exclusive resort for three weeks, how can any of them say no? But for Liv this trip couldn’t be any further from paradise, and the cost of being a friend to Ange soon becomes very clear.

The characters in this are all well drawn and believable, Liv is a little bit needy at times. It’s the way Ange manages to go to great lengths to put Live in her place. This is a story how friendships can soon turn sour, with an ending you just won’t see coming. The reader learns more about Liv and Pete’s history and the things they have had to face in the months leading up to the holiday to Corfu, it makes you really understand why it was something they both needed, but what they were expecting was nothing like what they were promised everything was a very large lie.

This is a fast paced read, with some great characterisation, but ones that will stay with you. I highly recommend this book.

So much to unpack in this book, neurotic women, over thinkers, lies, exaggeration... a real page turner. I enjoyed this a lot and read it much faster than some other books recently, pacey.

I was intrigued by the premise of Little Nothings. Liv meets two other mums - Beth and Bennie - at a local playgroup and then Ange joins their friendship circle. The mums, their husbands and children go to Greece at Ange's suggestion. But how important are Liv's new friendships to her?

I loved the character-driven plot and the intricacies of the relationships explored. A devious tale with mountains of suspense, the dual time periods work well for the overall tone. A very worthwhile, highly toxic read.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bloomsbury Publishing Plc (UK & ANZ), Raven Books via NetGalley and this review is my unbiased opinion.

A story on the toxic friendship of 4 friends, a very slow going book with not one likeable character and Liv was so irritating with the ways she try's to keep up with her rich friends you wanted to smack her.
The timeline goes from past to present regular without warning and confuses you with also very long chapters.
And why does ange never have a capital letter.
Just not for me.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Too much of a slow burner. Not the book I was expecting to read. The synopsis made it sound better than I thought it was.
