This is an adorable second chance romance , with some of the nicest characters ever. This setting reminded me of my own summer holidays spent in sleepy little cornish villages, so friendly and community focused.
Cressy and Ross make a lovely couple, pair that with the yummy baking, and recipes in the back and you get a wonderful light hearted , amusing romance that will make you want to eat cake!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

It's a delight to be back in St Aidan and to meet up again with so many of the characters who were part of The Little Cornish Kitchen. Cressy, who is at the centre of the story, is a refreshing character who always tries to be positive but who protects her feelings by staying away from contact with people if she can help it. In many ways she is hiding away at the beginning of the story. Of course, there are plenty of people in St Aidan's who want to bring her out of her shell. As you find out why she feels like this, you like her more and more. Having created a 'perfect' image for herself on social media, she has to learn to give up some of that control.

Ross is quite difficult to understand at first but as he slowly tells Cressy his story, he becomes much more sympathetic. and you see why the village loves him so. With a gorgeous setting, vivid characters and a few of life's lessons to be learnt, this is a great read. There is also a huge dollop of humour through the pets and some of the inhabitants of the village. The sense of community and respect across the generations is palpable.

In short: Loved it!

I adore unique fiction, and this is such an interesting premise. I recommend because of the story itself, writing style, and its ability to transport you into a different world.

A funny and charming romantic story. I hadn't read the first book in the series and it wasn't a problem jumping into Cressy and Ross's story. Their history is sad but they are older now and are ready for a second chance. Both are reeling from calamities in their careers and are licking their wounds, so to speak, in St. Aidan's where the locals rally around to help and encourage each other.
I loved the baking nights Cressy organised and the antics she and Ross got up to in order to entertain the audience. They were really funny and cute. I was laughing out loud at a lot of their interactions. The side characters were just the right mix of friends you'd want in real life too.
This was a lovely read and one I totally recommend. The book comes with some delicious sounding recipes at the end and if I owned a microwave I'd definitely be making Cressy's Chocolate Mug Cake.

SYNOPSIS/BOOK BLURB

Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen

St Aidan: a cosy Cornish village where friendships are made for life and it’s always cocktail hour somewhere…

The Little Cornish Kitchen is going on tour!
When internet sensation ‘Cressida Cupcake’ has a soggy bottomed TV fiasco and faces bake-off backlash she jumps at the chance to spend some time hiding out in St Aidan, dog sitting for her brother.

Picturesque Seaspray Cottage is meant to be Cressy Hobson’s port in the storm but with her blog sponsors having fled and her book deal gone sideways her funds are running low and she’s forced to turn to the locals for help. Soon her quiet weeks in Cornwall are filled with chasing sheep, saving the local retirement village, taking The Little Cornish Kitchen into people’s homes for baking nights…and keeping vigilant guard against romance.

The one and only time Cressy lost her head to love was over a decade ago while in St Aidan, and she won’t be making the same mistake again – a feat easier said than done when Ross Bradbury looks even better a decade on…and every step she takes seems to put him in her path!

REVIEW ~ NIKIPRESTON ~ 4 STARS

Tea for Two at the little Cornish Kitchen is a wonderfully gentle tale of cake, seaside and escapism. The series has several previous books yet this, for me, worked well as a stand alone as well. I got to know the fabulous characters quickly. Cressy is a go getter and doesn’t allow her impending loss of a book contract and her blog failing rapidly. She quickly throws herself into life in St.Aidan.

This a definite feel good book with laughter and drama along the way. A great book to shut yourself away with, immerse yourself into the perfect St,Aidan and probably dream about living there. Of course you get the gorgeous pup, Diesel. How could you not fall in love with this feel good Romance with a whole bunch of scrumptious recipes at the end of the book.

I love a bit of escapism in a book and this one delivered on all fronts.

Despite the writer’s reassurances that this book can easily be read as a stand-alone, I strongly disagree. True, central characters change over the novels, but you really do miss out on their history and connections with one another. I felt like I was walking into the middle of a series that I had little clue of the background, leaving me struggling to get to grips with the supporting characters and frustrated that I did not know enough about them.

I don’t think it helps that this is not the most original of stories. Cressy flees London after an abysmal appearance on a baking competition where, despite being famous for her internet videos, fails to create a perfect bake on television. Slaughtered online, she comes to St Aidan’s in order to lie low, re-group and work on her recipe book. But, in the aftermath of such bad publicity, her ideas are rejected by the publisher and Cressy needs to come up with some quick-buck ideas before becoming completely bankrupt. And this is where her baking tours originate.

Supported by her sister-in-law’s group of friends, Cressy takes her baking to the houses of St Aidan’s. They are a bit like beauty evenings, just involving cake, flour and plenty of mess! With such a supportive team behind her, Cressy soon realises she quite enjoys interacting with the public and demonstrating baking techniques. However, she is rather distracted by her old flame, Ross, who seems to pop up wherever she goes.

There is history between Cressy and Ross that is explained in the story. Yet, I still felt I was missing something between them and initially found both characters to be self-centred and arrogant. I could not warm to either until much later in the story; this definitely lessened my overall enjoyment of such a sunny, seaside novel. Furthermore, I grew frustrated by the delays in their obvious romance and just wanted the writer to hurry this along a bit more, rather than having to wait until the final few chapters for the predictable resolution.

Cressy’s friends are her sister-in-law’s friends, who is absent for most of the story. However, Cressy quickly slots in to the group, who seem to have an affinity with mermaids and nicknames, and takes them along with her baking journey. It does not seem as if they have anything else to do, and pop up in the story frequently. It felt as if Cressy was living with them. I did not understand this characterisation and did not feel it very realistic. In fact, rather than being shown as supportive, I thought the friends were more meddling and pushy.

Although I have my doubts about the narrative, I really enjoyed watching Cressy’s baking adventures. So much so, I felt inspired to reach for my apron and mixer. A lot of cake is consumed in this book (and I mean, a lot) and to be fair, the characters should be the size of houses! However, it added to the fun element of the story and I can’t wait to try some of Cressy’s recipes, particularly the cake in the mug bake.

Whilst the story is not the most original, I always have a weakness for baking and seaside escapes. This definitely did deliver but I do wish I had been able to visit St Aidan’s from the beginning of Linfoot’s writing, rather than coming aboard so far through the series. Many readers may not find this off-putting, but I found it unnerving that all these apparently familiar faces were appearing, all of whom I knew nothing about.

With thanks to One More Chapter, Harper Collins and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4☆ A Scrumptious Uplifting Romance

Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen Is the second book in this charming series. Although it can be read as a standalone and I have read the first book it was quiet a while a go and I struggled at first to get into the book.
But once I settled in again there was plenty of laughs to be had and tummy rumbling.

This time we have Cressida with her Cupcake fame she's an Internet sensation, but she has taken a bit of a knocking.
So she's come to Cornwall to house and dog sitting for her brother, to take time out to re-evaluate things and create a new Cookbook comeback!

But things are not easy for Cressida and all she wants to do is hideaway.
However the Mermaids have other ideas. When her sister-in-law has asked them to take Cressida under their wing as an honorary Mermaid.

Can Cressida Cupcake turn her life back round, find love and not get herself into too much trouble along the way especially with the loveable pupster Diesel who is one cheeky Fur Baby lol

So if you are looking for a Feel-good, Uplifting Romance that will have your tummy rumbling with all the Scrumptious goodies, a gorgeous setting and plenty of laughs and smiles along the way, then your in for a real treat with Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen

As an avid reader whose other great passion is baking this book was off to a good start. Then, as always, Jane adds a cast of supporting actors whose antics almost overshadow the main players. So if you want unruly dogs, incorrigible senior citizens and one social media savvy almost teenager along with a side order of romance then this is the book for you. And to make it even more tantalising some of Cressy's favourite recipes are added at the end

'Tea for Two' is a lovely light-hearted read. Cressy's story ties in with several other previous stories by Jane Linfoot. Cressy is flat-sitting for her brother and his partner whilst taking stock of her own life. An online chef, Cressy has learned the hard way that social media can be fickle and she is taking time away from the spotlight to re-assess her life. Her career has fallen apart after a disastrous appearance on an TV baking show and her love-life is non-existent. Her sponsors fade away and the final straw is when her publisher requests the return of an advance. Cressy realises she has to make money, and fast, so she starts baking... little by little, supported by friends, she begins to rebuild her life.

This is the perfect uplifting book for a cold and cloudy February day. I love how this author creates believable characters, dreamy romance and plenty of humorous moments in an idyllic Cornish setting.
Cressy is a successful internet baker, but a baking disaster threatens to destroy her fledgling career when social media turns against her.

Independent, she initially resists the community support and friendship St Aidan offers but not for long. Ross, the local vet, has a brief but traumatic history with Cressy, and his presence in the village is hard to ignore. The chemistry is undeniable, but both have internal conflicts to overcome to try again.

This is a lovely multi-generational story with relatable vibrant characters, humour, poignancy and romance.

I received a copy of this book from One More Chapter via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Escape to the beautiful Cornish seaside with a side of cake thrown in. Perfect mix of seaside, cakes and friendships.

Really liked how the chapters explained the date and where she was.

Cressida needs some time away and retreats to beautiful St Aidan. Whilst there plans to recharge and sit for her brother.

Cressida bumps into someone from her past who stole a piece of her heart. Will he steal her heart once more?

I must confess that I have read and enjoyed a large number of baking related books, this was no exception, and I could almost taste the delightful confections at each mention. In fact, I was thrilled to discover a lovely collection of recipes, at the back of the book.
It was easy to get a sense of Cressy’s despair as her career is in tatters and her internet following is as derailed as her own soggy bottomed TV fiasco. Escaping to St Aidan, the cosy Cornish Village where her brother and his wife live, Cressy is seriously unnerved to discover that her former lover, Ross Bradbury, is also in town.
This may seem like it will be a simple lovers reunited trope, but Jane Linfoot takes the reader on a fabulously heartwarming journey as Cressy soon becomes involved in village life. There’s plenty of baking en-route, and as ideas for Cressy to find an income to support her changed circumstances start to appear, she realises that she can also raise much needed funds to help save the local retirement village.
This lovely story has a host of gorgeous characters, including the Mermaid Ladies, you’ll have to read the book you want to know more, but I particularly enjoyed Walter. He stuck me as the grandfather that every girl wants to have in their life. Maybe a tad grumpy but filled with a huge heart and love for life.
I enjoyed escaping to Cornwall and imagining consuming all the wonderful cakes. I highly recommend this lovely story.

Hiding from a baking failure that has scuppered her celebrity status, Cressida is happy to look after her brother’s pets in Cornwall while she reconsiders herself. In a desperate bid to earn some money, Cressy agrees to start running cookery parties in people’s homes, and selling boxes of brownies to the locals. And with former love Ross back in her life, things start to look up again.

Tea for Two is a delightful romance, with a secondary story about the saving of the local nursing home and resident Walter to keep the action going. My favourite character of all, though, would have to be Diesel the dog. I’m not totally sure of his breed, although I’m guessing wolfhound or something similar. He’s great and livens up any scene, in much the way an actual dog does.

Great story, enjoyable read.

First and foremost my thanks to Rachel Gilbey for the opportunity to feature my review as part of the blog tour for this lovely book. (my slot 15th February)
This book has all the ingredients you need to settle yourself in for a nice easy read: a seaside setting, a boisterous dog, lots of mouth watering cake and a group of girls you can only wish were your own friendship group. Charlie's sister Cressida however is not finding the prospect quite so enticing; she's there purely to hide away from the wrong kind of social media attention following her disaster on a hugely popular TV baking show and to house/dog sit for her brother and his wife Clemmie who have gone away for a couple of months as they pursue their dreams of becoming parents for the first time. As a London girl, Cressy isn't keen on the small town, close knit community where everyone knows each others business and just wants to shut the door on the world in order concentrate on how to repair the damage to her career. Her furry friend Diesel has other ideas though making Cressy's worst nightmares come true as he takes an impromptu bound for freedom and hurtling straight into the one person who Cressy least wants to see on the entire planet: Ross Bradbury. Her ex boyfriend who caused her world to come crashing down once before and the one who made her so fiercely independent and determined to forge her own way in the world.
The book re-introduces us to Clemmie's group of close friends, known as The Mermaids, and follows their efforts to include Cressy into their world during her stay in St Aidan. Those of you who have read The Little Cornish Kitchen will be familiar with the group who are determined not to leave anyone feeling like an outsider in their community. Those who are joining for the first time soon realise, as does Cressy, that this is a community which pulls together for the good of the town. It's not long before Cressy is busier than ever she was in London, with the TV disaster soon becoming old news and her Twitter feed changing dramatically from snide comments regarding soggy bottoms to posts praising her new-found fame in St Aidan.
But what about Ross? He's always there, lurking in close proximity and with The Mermaids signing him up to help them out at every opportunity it's not long before the former couple find themselves being forced to re-visit old ground and trying to make sense of what happened over a decade ago in their personal lives.
I loved the journey Cressy took, how she was forced to re-evaluate her whole life and what she wanted from it - all because her brother needed a house and pet sitter. The author has brought a heart warming story so vividly to life; it's all very relateable and peppered with some hilarious escapades for many of the characters. Not to mention a fabulous selection of recipes that are featured throughout the story included at the end of the book too. What's not to like?
Please can I move to St Aidan and become one of The Mermaids, complete with my own tail and make-up?

This book was a delight! From start to finish, I was enthralled in the story of Cressida and Ross.

I'll admit, Cressida was a bit of a mess in the beginning. Taking care of her brother's and sister-in-law's pets, Cressida escapes to the beautiful village of St. Aidan in Cornwall. She instantly meets some wonderfully humorous ladies--who are referred to as the Mermaids--and also, her long-ago semi-ex, Ross.

From the first page, I absolutely adored Cressida and the ladies she would soon call friends. Cressida has a lot of soul-searching to go through to be comfortable with herself and not worry so much about what others think--including the handsome Ross.

This was such a lovely read full of laughs and sweet moments.

Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen by Jane Linfoot is a delightful comtemporary romance which will have you craving all of the delicious treats, or in my case wanting to get my food mixer dusted off! This was my first trip to St. Aidan, and I did not feel disadvantaged. It really works perfectly as a standalone. I will definitely be checking out the other stories because I had so much fun reading this one.

In the story we follow Cressida Cupcake, a YouTube star who moves into her brother and sister-in-law’s apartment to look after their pets while they are away for a few months.

On her arrival she bumps into an old flame, and her teenage crush, Ross, a hunky vet with whom she had a difficult past that she has struggled to move on from.

Within days Cressy is sucked into the most wonderful community and when circumstances lead to her to need to make some money, she turns to baking for solace, and to generate some funds. Before long, her sales and romance start to flourish!

I absolutely adored the community of St Aidan’s, and I fell for the wonderful characters at the local care home. The ready made friendship group were lovely and ready to rally around Cressy, and I really enjoyed the involvement of 11 year old Millie, a social media star of the future!

I must admit, even though I’m currently trying to eliminate sugar from my diet, the recipes at the back of the book are seriously tempting! Pets and cakes are pretty much my main interests apart from books, and a book that involves delicious cakes as well as a wonderful dog ticks all of my boxes. I can highly recommend this delicious romance.

A Jane Linfoot book is something to be cherished and savoured; it’s like familiar warm hug in book form. It’s great to be back in St Aiden, but the Cornish village is a wonderful location for Jane’s books. Don’t worry if you have never read anything by Jane before, this works as a standalone. I would highly recommend reading everything else by Jane Linfoot, you will adore them all.
Tea For Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen drew me in from page one and I didn’t want to put it down, well unless it was to grab something sweet and tasty! It is a fun, cosy, romance that is jam packed full of delicious, mouthwatering descriptions of treats, cakes and bakes.
As always, we have a wonderful array of characters, some that you will take to heart immediately, some you hope will change for the better in more ways than one and some that make you laugh. Here we have Cressida Cupcake, and she encompasses all those things.
Whilst pet sitting, Cressy has change to assess the damage from her recent ‘mistakes’ and find herself a way to rise again. She isn’t herself and she is desperate to get back to the Cressida Cupcake everyone knew.
Discovering an unexpected yet familiar face is around, and is going to be a lot closer than she would ever like them to be, stirs up memories she would rather keep hidden and reopens scars she tried to believe were healed. Can old loves get over years of pain and learn to get along? Can past sorrows ever be eased?
I loved the idea of The Little Cornish Kitchen on tour, and seeing how Cressida Cupcake would deal with various situations. I wish it was real, each event sounded like an absolute riot (even when it wasn’t meant too!) Such a great community feel in these books, Cressida really does get stuck in and she’s not shy about working hard.
I loved getting to know the characters, loved being back in a familiar setting and loved all the different elements to the story. It’s warm, full of heart and sentiment and Jane’s writing makes you feel like you are right there in the heart of the community she has created. They feel like friends and that’s why I always look forward to the next Jane Linfoot book, no matter how long that may be.
Thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley and for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
