Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
The first 15% of this book sets the scene as Milly remembers moments from the past when she and her husband, Adam, started their relationship as she goes through a workday. Her character is a realistic millennial with carefree drunken student behaviour in her past and a complete reliance on social media now. An early scene in the book describes an appointment for hair removal by laser but the area is called by an incorrect term. The language used is common among young people today but as an older reader this is not to my taste, and I was not interested in the social media focus or abbreviations.
I'm sure this book will be enjoyed by many younger readers, it just wasn't for me so I have given it 3 stars despite not reading beyond 15%.

This deals with losing your soulmate and how to deal with trying to get on with your life but you have a facade of being alright.

Milly has been a widow for 2 years she lost the love of her life Adam , she has a few close friends but the other friends have lost touch. She finds it hard to talk to people about being a widow but she decides to create an instagram page where no one knows who she is, she helps other people with their problems. Milly seeks help with a social media therapist who is there to listen to her.

I found the book heartbreaking as Milly goes back to when she was with Adam and reliving moments I needed the tissues as it was sad. Will she find love.

I enjoyed the book.

Ahhhh this was the breath of fresh air I didn’t know I needed. I used to LOVE British contemporary novels & I definitely need to get back to reading more of them. There’s just something about the dry humour & comic self deprecation that appeals to my soul on a deeper level & this book made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion.

If I had to describe this story in three words, they would be fun, funny & thoughtful. Some of the conversations & “life lessons” were a little heavy handed but it managed to hold its charm throughout & didn’t veer into cheesy. I loved all of the social media commentary & there were so many moments during the book where I thought “YES!” in relation to our protagonists thoughts & experiences. I also really liked the flashbacks to the pre-marriage love story as it helped build up a more tangible picture of the grief and loss, as well as showing “pre-widow” Milly in all her glory.

I also just hugely appreciate it when authors have the bravery to go outside the box with tropes. I’ve never read from the protagonist of a young widow & I think if I was in that situation, I would feel less alone having characters to relate to. I’m all for contemporaries that don’t focus on “finding love” as the overarching plot point. Self love FTW!

Lovely modern story of a woman called Milly who is a widow at the age of 26 and what follows is a funny and sad in parts. Milly is obsessed with social media and this shows the downside and damage it can do.
It also deals with the emotions of becoming a widow and how Milly deals with it.
Thanks to NetGalley & Hodder & Stoughton, for a advanced copy.

This book was great. Despite the main character losing her husband at the young age of 28, it tells the story with ease and some humour. Great work from this author

Milly thought she'd be a master of many things at 28, but being a widow wasn't one of them. But after two years of practice, she's got really good at pretending she's okay with it.

She's gotten good at avoiding dates, dodging those awkward questions people still ask her, and even pretending on the internet she has some type of social life. But behind the screens, when the doors are closed, her life is empty and the only person she talks to is her late husband who can't even reply to her messages.

Then, she does something that changes everything again and Mizzenial is born - a platform made for authenticity, honesty and openness. Like the magazines she read as a girl, she encourages everyone to live their truth, speak straight from the heart and share their own thoughts about life. But even if this safe space she's created, she's struggling to open up and stop the little white lies that are keeping her alone.

Love, Loss and Little White Lies is a tender and authentic story about life after love - and the strange but inescapable parts of being human that break our hearts in unexplainable ways.

Milly was painfully relatable - she was just your average twenty-something woman who grew up reading Mizz for their life advice and carefully planned her Instagram posts, until one day her life didn't make sense anymore. She was like many of us when we lose someone - confused, angry, upset - and reached into that part of all us that really have no idea what we're doing.

Absorbing and endearing, this will make you laugh through tears at it's wickedly sharp observations, witty humour and genuine reflections.

This is a story for everyone who looks out into the world and wonders how everyone looks so together, how they're still going and you just … can't.

THE FUNNIEST NOVEL YOU'LL EVER READ ABOUT GRIEF - well that's actually true.
Milly Dayton became a widow at 26. That's not funny. That's a terrible event & challenge for anyone but at 26 - such a shock.
It's 2 years on & she has a system perfect to make it seem everything is fine & she's handling life.

Does everyone lie on Instagram? Is that really what they do?

Some people have a whole different persona online & others might buy into it... BUT there's only so long you can keep up alternative impressions. Sick of all the pretence, Milly creates Mizzennial. But will she be able to actually admit how lonely she is & move into a new phase of life? Real life?

This could break your heart & warm it at the same time. It might make you shed a tear but it will also make you laugh, maybe out loud!

Empathetic…
Milly creates a facade. On the surface her life is just fine. Underneath, that couldn’t be further from the truth. A widow at twenty six, she is struggling and lonely. What happens when she decides to ditch the whole facade she’s created? Can she take the advice she herself dishes out? Empathetic tale of love, loss and life which is both heartwarming and heartbreaking in equal measure and laced with a gentle humour.

I really enjoyed this book, I found it quite sweet and easy to read. It was very real and dealt with such a a unusual (and hopefully something which isn't comment) loss of her partner at such a young age but It was such a beautiful real and even though it was filled with sadness the funny moments really did make you laugh out loud. As a character I love Milly!

Wow, I thought itcwas going to be a lighthearted one and it was an emotional roller-coaster! I really enjoyed this book and the evolution of Milly dealing with grief and how she turned her life around. Lots of sadness but also loads of laughs! The way is toñd makes you empathise with her so easily. Social media can be really bad for us if misused but also can bring in great things.

In many ways, Milly Dayton is your average millennial. She moved to London after uni, spends too much on brunch and is obsessed with Instagram. However, Milly Dayton is also a widow. At 26. And that's very different to a lot of people her age indeed.

I thought this story was very sweet, funny and real. I would recommend to anybody who is dealing with the loss of a partner, at whatever age, as I'm sure you'll see a lot of your own feelings and experiences reflected in this story

I blitzed through this book over the weekend as I just could not get enough. Light and witty but also oddly poignant I enjoyed every second. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Milly is such a great leading character, and this book is oh so good. It is filled with sadness but also funny moments too. It is uplifting as well as eye opening and really well written

Milly’s story of coming to terms with being a 26 year old widow is heart-breaking and poignant, but also fresh and funny and just all kinds of wonderful. I absolutely adored this book!

A good read but very sad in parts. It does show how people lie about how they feel on social media. Well written and would like to read more by this author.

Sadly this was a DNF for me. I read about 1/4 of the book and it felt like it still hadn’t gotten going, and I found the constant flashbacks distracting, and seemingly pointless as I didn’t get their relevance to the present day
