This is the third book in the Silver Harbor series but my first and also my first book by Melissa Foster ( I know what you’re thinking - what rock have I been living under!).

The series follows three sisters, Abby, Cait and Deidre and this is Deidre and Jagger’s story.

Deidre is a career driven lawyer who has neglected her family and her own happiness for the career. Circumstances at work find her back in her hometown, where she meets Jagger who is handsome younger and a completely carefree spirit….in other words the complete opposite of Deidre……and as they say opposites attract - which they certainly do here!

I really enjoyed seeing how in a very small space of time Jagger changed Deidre’s outlook on life and brought out a side in her many ( include Deidre herself) have not seen.

This was a really sweet and easy to read small town romance that made me smile.

The books are interconnected stand-alones, but I found that there were far too many support characters and I couldn’t keep a track of them all, so perhaps if I had read the previous 2 books in the series I would have been able to follow who they were.

Ms Forster has a huge backlist, that I now look forward to reading starting with the first two books in this series.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, the publisher Montlake and author Ms Foster for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I was already keeping an eye out for the last sister’s story in the Silver Harbor series.

In Maybe We Will, Deirdra’s younger sister Abby found her happily ever after in Silver Harbor. But for Deirdra, Silver Harbor is a reminder of all the sad moments in her life. Ever since their father died, their mother lost herself in the bottle. And Deirdra, as the eldest, felt responsible to keep the restaurant, her mother and her little sister afloat. The moment her sister was old enough, to take care of herself, she took off to Boston. To study and later on, to work there.

But, as we read in maybe we should, Deirdra was bypassed for a promotion at work. And so she decided to take a two month hiatus from her job. That should teach her boss for not giving her the deserved promotion Planning to go on a long holiday, Deirdra stops at silver Harbor first. Because her eldest sister, Cait, is getting married.

Torn between wanting to spend time with her family and escaping the memories from the past, she ends up with the one guy she can’t stand: Jagger. This laid back musician, who works as a chef at her sister’s restaurant, and who doesn’t seem to have any plan in life.

Deirdra hates people, who don’t have a plan in life. But somehow, Jagger gets under her skin and she opens up to him. And when she learns more about Jagger, she realizes there is more than meets the eye with this guy. (Although: he is definitely eye candy, if you know what I mean). Can Jagger help her move past her hurtful memories of the past? Or will she forever hate the island and never set foot on it again? A slow burn, cute romance. And of course, we also see more from Deirdra’s sisters, Cait and Abby. A wonderful ending to this series. But I do believe that Melissa will create more stories on some other islanders. There are plenty more, who would make an interesting story, I bet!

Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I knew Deirdra would be a hard nut to crack and this story got me all in the feels. I don’t think anyone knew all the intricate pieces of Jagger let alone Didi. He brought out the sunshine and free girl that once was. He brought Didi to the surface and Deirdra back to life.

I loved each and every page of this story. Like I said all the feels and then some. One minute I was on this beautiful journey and the next I was teary eyed and hoping for that HEA. There was lots of steamy romance mixed with loads of fun and family. There was a little angst mixed in with the laughs. This story was not only about letting go of the bad but letting in the good. It was about family and love and so much more.

Ms. Foster left the best for last with these strong, brave and resilient sisters. Each sister had a different challenge and love story and each one was amazing but I think Didi will always be my favorite.

Maybe we won't will take you back to silver island and the sisters planning a shower for Cait. Love seems to find all three girls. The characters are enduring and you'll find you're love for them

Boy adults really don't realize how much they can mess up their kids when they can't get their lives together, do they!?!?! Deidra isn't even the same person that she used to be. She doesn't even want to go back to her hometown because of her childhood. It takes a very special person with a lot of love and patience to bring her out of that. What a great book!

Maybe We Won’t was so full of raw emotions. I feel as though Deirdra and I share a similar story which made this story so much more raw for me. It felt personal and really drew on my emotions.

I understand growing up and having to be an adult at a young age to care for younger siblings. I also understand the rigidness and the inability to be laid back and “go with the wind”.

Josiah, aka Jagger, was something surreal. Laid back, go with the flow, loving, caring, thoughtful, musical, sexy, can cook – a dream come true. I loved Jagger’s bond with his family, especially his brother; as well as his connection to the community – not just on the island, but everywhere he went. Jagger and Deidra’s coming together was definitely bumpy and difficult; steamy and torturous.

I love the trope of “woman who’s always working gets shown to relax”. I think the challenge I had with this one was Deirdra’s character wasn’t so likable in the beginning. She just kind of was stuffy about everything, and presented with a bad attitude. It forced me to skim a bit. I guess it just felt like Deirdra kept calling Jagger a “hippy” at the start in a somewhat rude way; she was judgmental. I know that’s part of her character growth though, so I can’t be too critical.

Maybe We Won’t is a classic opposite attract romance. This makes for a funny and quirky story.
Main characters are Deirdra and Jagger. Deirdra is a overachiever and Jagger is what she considers a “hippie.” How can they even think about getting together? They both have a lot to let go of and find what really matters. Fun times for sure!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I knew going in that I would love this book and that it would also tug at the heart strings. I just didn't know how much.

There was just something about it that grabbed and held on. Dierdra and Jagger are so wonderful together. The way they "get" each other and their relationship just seems to flow is such a beautiful thing.

Maybe We Won’t by Melissa Foster
Silver Harbor #3

Lovely small-town romance ~ opposites attract, sparks fly, love develops, and family issues are resolved as Deirdra “Didi” de Messsieres and Josiah “Jagger” Jones find their way to a splendid happily ever after.

What I liked:
* Jagger: chef, musician, environmentalist, wanderer, outgoing, friend to all, wise, loving brother, puts family first, falls hard for Didi
* Didi: workaholic, lawyer, needs a plan, fears not having “enough”, loves her sisters, priorities skewed, falls hard for Jagger
* The romantic things Jagger does – those dates were splendid!
* Gabe: Jagger’s brother, tomato lover, gardener, autistic, loves listening to Jagger play music, involved in business of his own
* Dolly: Dalmatian, Josh’s friend and companion, big-hearted, fun, nice addition to story
* Abby and Cait: sisters of Didi who have already found their HEA with Aiden and Brant
* The first meet-up of Jagger and Didi in the garage apartment ;)
* The way Jagger’s relaxed life outlook helped Didi see things differently
* The small-town vibes
* Learning about library vacations to places people might want to visit
* The food and fun
* The importance of family in this series
* That Didi and Jagger brought out the best in one another
* All of it really…except…

What I didn’t like:
* Knowing how difficult it must have been for Didi and Abby when they lost their father and then lost the mother they knew to the alcoholic lonely one she became

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Deirdra has spent most of her adult life focused on her career as a successful attorney in Boston. But a visit home to Silver Island forces her to reconcile events from her past and mend relationships with her sisters. In the process, she meets Jagger Jones, a free-spirited, guitar-playing man who does everything in his power to encourage Deirdra to get in touch with her light-hearted roots.

Is Jagger's coaxing enough to get Deirdra to take off of her business suit and put her toes in the sand?

A lighthearted summer romance with complex characters and a happily-ever-after that readers will enjoy rooting for.

**I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher, through Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Maybe We Won’t by Melissa Foster, the third book in the Silver Harbor series. Attorney at law and Deidra Messieres, after giving so much of herself to her job while woefully neglecting her family and missing out on social life, was overlooked for a promotion. Silver Harbor is the last place she wants to be, as it holds many painful memories. Memories she wishes would stay buried. Jagger is living his life the way he wants to and he is more than he seems. Deirdra is a workaholic who misses out on life in many ways. She is running from her past and determined not to be like her mother. Deirdra is on a break and doesn't realize all the changes she needed to make. There is something so special and wonderful when it comes to the way Jagger gets Deirdra to drop her walls and live a freer life. I loved watching all the changes in Deirdra as she gives in and enjoys life more fully and repairs her relationships with her sisters. Deirdra and Jagger are hot together and make so much sense once they just give in. Slowly Deirdra starts to lower her walls and let Jagger in, and in turn her sisters.

Another amazing book from Melissa. I laugh, cried and felt things while reading this book. I always find with every book by Melissa I can relate to the characters in some way and this book is no different. That is way I love reading this books because I fall in love with the people and at the same time see a little of myself in each one of them. You can always read Melissa's books as a stand alone or as part of the series and never feel lost. This book is feel good, romance with family and friends thrown in. You will devour this book.

Maybe We Won't is the third book in the Silver Harbor series. This one involves the third and final de Messieres sister, Deidra. It's a really touching opposites attract romance. It was also the perfect way to wrap up this trio. Deirdra is on a work hiatus and trying to figure out what to do with her life. Jagger is enamored with her and is determined to figure out what makes her tick.

I loved Jagger and his spirit. He was the perfect match for Deirdra, even though she fought it. I adored how he showed her how to let go and live a little. She really needed someone like him in her life. Her story, of course, is heartbreaking and has caused her a lot of baggage. The drive to always be perfect and not belike here mother looked exhausting. I was rooting for her to finally deal with it all and move on with the happiness she was really craving. I loved the compromise in the end. It was perfect for both of them. As always, I highly recommend this one as well as the series. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Deirdra and Jagger's story is all about opposite attract. Deidra is a workaholic who plans out her life, to make sure she never becomes like her mother. Her mother who was an alcoholic. And was unable to care for her and the girls after their father died. Jagger is all about living life to its fullest, making no plans. I was really happy to finally get Deirdra's story. I worried about her and how she would finally come to terms with her past with your mom. Jagger was perfect for her. He was able to bring out this softer side and I loved how he swept her off her feet. I wasn't sure if Jagger would be able to get the HEA because Deirdra was in so much pain deep down and fought to keep it buried. Great story.

Two polar opposites end up falling madly in love with one another in Melissa Foster’s irresistible new novel, Maybe We Won’t.

Deirdra’s life revolves around her job as an attorney. Having put her personal life on hold and worked tirelessly to secure a promotion, Deirdra is crushed when she’s passed over for the position she’s slogged her guts out for. Determined to prove to her boss that she’s indispensable, Deirdra heads over to Silver Island for a two-month hiatus which she plans to spend catching up with her sisters. Although Deirdra’s delighted to be back home, she has absolutely no interest in the family-run restaurant – or in the sexy laidback chef who is making her feel things she has no business feeling!

Josiah ‘Jagger’ Jones couldn’t be more different from uptight lawyer Deirdra. The free-spirited chef and musician lives in his van with his dog and seems allergic to schedules and commitment. He hates begin tied down and is frequently overcome by wanderlust and by a desperate need to broaden his horizons – unlike Deirdra who is counting down the hours until she gets back to Boston. With the two of them being like chalk and cheese, Jagger and Deirdra have nothing in common, but they are united by a red-hot attraction towards one another that is making quick work of all of their defenses and inhibitions. The more time they spend in each other’s company, the more their feelings for one another intensify, but with the two of them wanting different things out of life, should they just call it quits? Or will admitting how they really feel about one another lead them to the future and happiness they both deserve?

Melissa Foster hits a home run yet again with her latest Silver Harbor novel, Maybe We Won’t. A witty, emotional and heartwarming contemporary romance about facing your fears, finding somewhere to belong and falling in love, Maybe We Won’t will have readers laughing out loud and reaching for the tissues in equal measure.

Fun, poignant and feel-good, it’s always a pleasure to return back to Silver Harbor with one of Melissa Foster’s books and her latest novel, Maybe We Won’t, will tick all the right boxes for small-town contemporary romance fans.

Maybe We Won’t by Melissa Foster, the third book in the Silver Harbor series, gave me all the feels. The series follows three sisters. Having read and enjoyed the books 1 and 2, I eagerly awaited the release of Deirdra’s story. I knew her story would be special, and Foster delivered as expected.

Summary

Attorney at law and Deidra Messieres, after giving so much of herself to her job while woefully neglecting her family and missing out on a social life, was overlooked for a promotion. Silver Harbor is the last place she wants to be, as it holds many painful memories. Memories she wishes would stay buried. But she came anyway as she wanted to prove to her boss, he couldn’t function without her.

She has no interest in getting involved in the family business. Neither is she interested in getting to know the drifter/ hippie who claimed to know her mother. After all, they have nothing in common. She’s a planner and workaholic, while he moves to the beat of his own drum. Fate, as always, had other plans, and soon Deirdra and Jagger would find themselves on a journey of friendship, romance, healing, forgiveness, and new beginnings.

My Views

Deirdra may be a confident Attorney, but when it came her personal life, she was the Queen of insecurities. She grew with the progression of the story. I secretly cheered for her with each page turn. It warmed my heart when she loosened the chains of unforgiveness and embraced all life offered.

Jagger piqued my interest after meeting him in the previous books. Well, Foster satisfied my curiosity in Maybe We Won’t. Learning about his past, his family and the events which shaped his personality and his life choices was intriguing and enlightening. One can see why Deirdra found it hard to resist his charms.

I loved their romance, which was passionate, warm, sweet, authentic, and brimming with emotions. There was no faking the sizzling chemistry between them. I have to say they are my favourite couple from this series.

The camaraderie between friends and family added depth to the story. I loved how the author emphasized autism and the challenges faced by parents and siblings of the child diagnosed as being on the spectrum.

Maybe We Won’t delivered a romance to warm your heart, fill you with hope and leave you with a smile at the end. If you love the opposites attract trope, then this book will feed your desires.

Narration

I enjoyed listening to both narrators. Virgina Rose is new to me. I have listened to Aaron Shedlock before. Virginia did a wonderful job bringing Deirdra to life. Aaron was definitely the voice of Jagger. Their voices were distinct and done well.

Absolutely love this series and especially this story about Dee and Jagger. Dee was forced to grow up too quickly after her father died, taking care of her mom and sister. Now years later following the passing of her mom, she has to face her past in order to find her future. Jagger is a hippie wanderer who catches her eye and things start to change.
This is about healing from your past and seeing your future there the eyes of your younger self. Thank you to netgalley for complementary copy. Highly recommend the series.

This was a sweet story. Deirdre is a tight-laced attorney and Jagger is a fly-by-the-seat-of-his-pants hippie. But, when you get to know them (and they get to know each other), you find out that Deirdre just needs to let loose and Jagger just needs someone to share his carefree life with. It maybe took a little too long for Dee to loosen up and accept her fate but I liked how it all came together. It was excellent writing! 5 stars!!
