This book wasn't really for me and I speed read the last 30 percent or so of the book just to finish it. The front cover and premise of the book was promising but unfortunately it just didn't live up to my expectations. The main characters were self entitled and painful and i struggled getting into it.

THE CLUB takes place in a luxurious and secluded location, set around the launch party of Island Home which is the latest addition to the exclusive Home Group membership. It's the most sought-after invitation of the decade, and the guests are all celebrities and group members who are seeking privacy as they indulge in their vices. But the ambitious project has pushed the CEO and his team to their limits, causing tensions to rise - and later, unexpected deaths.

I like the captivating writing, and I thought the satirical take on the lifestyles of the rich and famous is entertaining. I thought the grey areas the characters lived in were juicy to read. But the story moves a little slow, and the numerous flashbacks are repetitive. While the different characters added to the complex mystery, at certain times it was detrimental to the suspense because the POV kept switching. I did find the ending satisfying as it ties up all loose ends. This is for readers who love slow-burn mystery with plenty of character studies and rich people drama.

This was a 3 star read for the first 80-85% but the twists at the end earned it the additional star! I think I need to skip the closed proximity trope for a bit, I'm not finding them exciting, if anything they are annoying me. I need more backstory, character building and plot. However, this was a good twisty mystery, full of big characters and excellent setting descriptions. I will read more from this author.

I struggled with this one and found it to be dragged out and a bit too slow paced for my liking. A good plot line and had potential.

I absolutely loved this! I was totally hooked on it, so much so that when I finished listening to the audiobook driving home from work, I switched over to kindle to keep reading there!

The story follows the opening of a new location of the exclusive Home Group - Island Home. A literal island all for the use of an exclusive celebrity guest list. So exclusive lower tier celebrities had no hope of being invited. It starts with an explosive prologue setting up part of the plot twist for later in the book.

One of the draws here for me was the celebrity aspect and the world which seems miles away from my own of getting up and going to work in a hospital every day! Like many other books by the likes of Victoria Fox or Tasmina Perry where celebrities involved often so is misbehaviour and lots of antics. The characters in this story are not short on either however there is a definite air of darkness throughout as you can’t really trust any of the characters with the prologue constantly in mind.

This is another one ticked off my list of outstanding book club picks from Reese’s book club! Up next I’m thinking The Jetsetters by Amanda Eyre Ward.

"This book by Ellery Lloyd is an enthralling and captivating thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The story is skillfully woven, combining elements of mystery, suspense, and psychological tension that had me hooked from the very first page. The authors' writing style is engaging and immersive, making it easy to get lost in the world created.

The pacing of the book is expertly executed. The plot unfolds at a steady pace, gradually revealing new layers of the mystery and keeping the reader guessing until the final reveal. Overall it was a satisfying reading experience.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A well written murder mystery but the timeline kept throwing me off and therefore made the read a little confusing. Love the cover!!

This book was one that I could not put down because it was so gripping. This is the first book I have read by Ellery Lloyd and I loved it. I enjoyed the twists that I did not see coming. Highly recommend this book,

I devoured this book. It was exactly what I needed this week; a fast paced suspense thriller with an ingenious plot. I previously inhaled People Like Her so I knew this would be just as brilliant.

The Club is a sought after membership for the rich and famous. Only the best get it, or not. But at the opening of their newest location, everything goes wrong.

What the husband and wife team Ellery Lloyd does of taking current situations and events, and spins them into dazzling storylines is something else. I thought People Like Her was a clever storyline, but this exceeds it. This whole book was full of characters that would make you think of certain celebs and a lot of selfish rotten conservative MPs at that.

A must read!

I thought I would absolutely love this from the blurb but it ended up falling a bit flat for me, it was nowhere near as intense or thrilling as I thought it would be unfortunately

I found this difficult to read. It felt crammed a little and I couldn’t remember whom was who so found myself getting confused.

I wanted to love this one because of the premise but I found myself struggling to get though it. The characters were all over the place, some were quite interesting but I found myself struggling to remember who was who at some points. I think I'd rather have focused on one or two people.

Mystery novel about the dark side of the celebrity world.
The opening of a new one in the chain of uber luxurious clubs is a busy affair - the famous ones wants to go, the employees are going crazy because of the stress. The amount of emotions is accumulated and it is not a positive batch - given that practically everyone on the island set of the new Home has reasons to hate and/or be afraid of somebody else. Then the body is found.

While I liked the set and the circumstances are definitely (and literally!) to die for, I also disliked every character, which does not work for my emotional attachment to the book. The amount of toxic masculinity is too high (not a fan of this very popular trope nowadays, even if I agree that the issue needs to be addressed strongly). The celebrity world is described well - if you believe that every celebrity is a bad, stupid or insecure person (even if they show just those who are interested in the popular membership, but still...). And the ending leaves some arcs open, too. So, in some aspects quite interesting novel, but could be better.

The Club is exclusive, only open to the super rich, and super influential… even if you can afford it, you might not get in. When a major incident happens on the club’s island, everyone is talking about it.

The Club was surprisingly exhilarating… the newspaper segments were a fab addition to the story, and I felt like I was watching a real-time newsreel. I enjoyed hearing from all the different characters, hearing about their dramas, and not knowing where the story was going to go. A fun, chaotic, guilt pleasure thriller.

A thriller about the dark side of celebrity. Despite some flaws and unlikable characters, it was an escapist read.

I was one of the readers who absolutely loved People Like Her, so I was really excited to read Ellery Lloyd's The Club.

There weren't really any likable characters in the book, although I did like Jess , I also really enjoyed the various viewpoints,

I think The Club really shines on the narrator Tamaryn Payne she did a fab job being the voice of so many characters. I particularly loved how she made the article seem like another narrator when she read those parts. It took me a minute to get all of the characters together, but once I did, I was really into this drama and was excited to see where the story would take us.
It was a slow burner even with the different viewpoints and the articles mixed in, but I was hanging onto every word and couldn't put it down.
I read it over a couple of days . I was also really satisfied with the end of the book and if you love drama with unlikeable characters this will be a great read for you.

Thank you for my advanced read of this book.
All opinions and thoughts are my own.

This was a really entertaining read that had me hooked.

Told from the POVs of 3 people in the third person narrative - Adam the CEOs (Neds) brother, Jess a member of the housekeeping staff and and Nikki the CEOs Personal Assistant. There are also plenty of other characters so its definitely a storyline you need to keep focused on.

The Club is a VIP club for the rich, the elite and A List celebrities who meet for parties and fun. Island Home is the latest club to open, set on a private island.

I found the pacing a bit of a problem to be honest, the first 50-60% were really slow but then the last part sped up dramatically.

The characters are really interesting, each in their own right and ach have their own motives.

An entertaining read that takes you away from everything into a world of pure escapism.

Thanks to netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the ARC.

The Club shows all sides of what it is to be famous, both good and bad.
Fast paced and with several storyline to follow it could be a bit confusing at times and the characters felt a little one dimensional..
