A brilliant psychological thriller. Gripping and intense. Love the cover and would read more by the author

*Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.*

Not bad, per se, just too many coincidences and some loose ends left. It was fairly likeable even if most of the characters weren't. You couldn't root for anyone, even the ones who got their well deserved revenge in the end.

It just lacked something, and I don't know what it was!

I was a huge fan of Ellery Llyold's first book and the take on influencers, so was really happy to recieve a copy of The Club. It didn't disappoint at all, and was just as gripping and intense as People Like Her!

When an elite club for the rich and famous is the scene of something horrible happening is being rich and famous all it’s cracked up to be?

This multi narrated story was very good and really made me question how the other half live. Would I want to be rich and famous if I turned into some of these characters in this book. They were very unlikable and I thought the author had perfected them brilliantly. This had all the markings of a decent thriller, twisty, death, blackmail and more. A good read.

Brilliant storytelling. Addictive and fast paced.

Really enjoyed this book and all its twist and turns. The setting was wonderfully portrayed and the characters interesting and engaging.

I absolutely loved the debut novel People Like Her from Ellery Lloyd (pseudonym for a husband and wide writing duo), it was a fantastic and clever thriller based around the darker side of Instagram celebrity. This time they tackle the full on celebrity world of movie, music and global glitterati and the darker side of exclusive money buys everything clubs. This is a perfect summer read. Yes, there are lots of characters to get your head around, but it’s a perfectly paced whodunit thriller full of characters you will love to hate.

A twisty, modern whodunit thriller cementing the Ellery Lloyd team as a name to look out for four out of five.

The Club by Ellory Lloyd is the story of what it is like to be famous. The good part - parties, celebrity friends, exclusive freebies and also the seedy underbelly where every move you make is watched, scrutinised and used to bring you down.

It is a fast paced thriller with mulitiple threads to the story which is both the story's credit and detriment. The detriment because at times I fiound myself a bit lost with the characters and didn't feel that they were fully fleshed out enough for me to discern who was who but to its credit I did struggle to guess who had caused the crimes.

For me, The Club by Ellory Lloyd is a story of two halves - there are great aspects to it but it needed more in the character development - because I couldn't always fully create a character in my mind I failed to care enough about them. It is, however, a great beach read. Perfect for the summer holidays,

The Club by Ellory Lloyd is available now.

My first novel by this author and definitely not my last. Whilst I wasn’t keen on most of the characters, I did enjoy how all of their stories all interlinked and how the drama all unfolded throughout the book. One I just kept reading and reading because I had to know what happened. Enticing and thrilling, one to recommend.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a perfect blend of a sensational story and a whodunnit, with a cast of not so likeable characters, and a murder in a remote luxurious hotel. As we follow multpile narrators who each present the own side of the story, we learn more about the story of the fatal weekend. There are cracks under the glittering facade, old grudges and secrets that keep readers guessing until the end. A perfect holiday read, as long as you do not spend it on a remote island!

I read debut novel 'People Like Her' by the husband and wife authors behind Ellery Lloyd last year and really enjoyed it, so jumped at the chance to read this via @netgalley.
.
Home is am exclusive member's club with locations all over the world, run by brothers Ned and Adam. The launch weekend of their most ambitious project 'Island Home' set just off the South East coast sees celebrities and the super rich descend for the party to end all parties, but not all of the guests or staff will leave the island alive.
.
This gripped me from the first paragraphs, panic from unknown passengers in a car heading straight into certain death. This mystery formed one of many arising from the launch party. As with their debut novel, most of the characters are very unlikeable and you feel like they get their just desserts. I enjoyed this one but it got a little far fetched as things progressed, but still a pacy and engaging read.

I loved Ellery Lloyd’s debut, which was absolutely chilling, and hugely enjoyed this one as well! I’m a sucker for rich people problems and the premise sounded amazing… I expected something even darker, but I was satisfied with how things went down nonetheless. Once I got started, I quickly became invested in the characters and their secrets and had to know what happened and was about to happen. Highly recommended! Thank you to Pan Macmillan and the authors for providing me with an advanced reader copy to read and review! 4.5 stars.

This is a classic Agatha Christie type of mystery with a collection of not particularly likeable but well drawn characters, all with their own agendas, stuck on an island cut off from the mainland. I really liked the way we don’t actually know who has died in an attempt to get off the island which is described in the prologue which adds to the drama. We get back stories which gives motive and we learn about the various relationships. It’s a melting pot which has been skilfully drawn and I defy anyone not to enjoy this book.

This was a really great and interesting book with some amazing ideas. I got a little lost at times with the POVs, but ultimately it was a good and fun ride, worth the read and I'll keep picking up from this author in the future.

The Club is a fast-paced thriller with plenty of twists set in a glamorous world. The opening of Island Home is the celebrity event that everyone will be at. It's an uber exclusive club set on a remote island. Filled with tons of scandal, drama, glitz and glam, The Club is sure to make readers swoon. There's a shocking locked-room murder mystery at the center of the plot. Highly recommended to readers who enjoy murder mysteries set in glamorous settings. Be sure to check out The Club today!

I really loved the premise of this and found it really easy to get into! The whole idea of the club/island scenario was brilliant and the author did a great job of painting the setting well.

For me, I love books with different POV but found it hard to pick up and put down as so many different POV and I couldn’t remember who was who! If I could have read this in one sitting, I would have as think this would have made it flow better.

Overall this could have been a great book but I just felt it was lacking in something. Yes there were twists and yes there was suspense, but it just felt a bit flat overall.

I absolutely loved People Like Her, it was a 5 star read for me so I was very keen to read this next book after thinking the synopsis sounded cool and gripping but unfortunately it wasn't for me at all. So many characters to keep track of that I often forgot who was who and the worst thing was I ended up not caring.
I will definitely keep an eye on their future work though and just chalk this down as not being for me.

This book fell very flat for me. There were far too many POV characters and it felt very clumsy trying to keep up with it all. There were also too many characters in general to attempt to keep up with. I liked the idea of the book but not the execution

The Club is a brilliant book that had my hooked from the first page. It is a masterclass in writing. Loved it.

This was my first book by this author, and had heard wonderful reviews on the previous novel, People Like Her, so jumped at the chance to read this. I also found out that it is written by a husband a wife team, which made me want to pick it up even more.

Unfortunately this one fell a little flat for me. There are quite a few POV’s, and while not hard to keep up with, the story is more of a family drama mixed with mystery rather than a thriller, that dragged on a little, especially at the halfway mark. It was entertaining and the twists at the end were pretty good. While I didn’t love this one, I did enjoy it and look forward to reading more from this duo in the future.

Many thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the authors for my eArc.

Clever and insightful , this book takes you beyond the rope, and into the VIP area of a place so exclusive, so niche you cannot even imagine it.

So special and elite that they need an island to party on,should it really come as a surprise that the only thing to upstage the opening was a death?

Taking in multiple viewpoints, from the outraged villagers whose once quiet life is full of gawkers, to the police having to quickly continue continue murder scene, the character driven plot creates an illusory sense of belonging, even as it shuffles your hopeful , needful personage towards the security team waiting to launch you out the tradesman's entrance.

The tale of brothers Ned and Adam, who began the venture which evolved into world wide clubs under the Home brand, is an exercise in elitism and ambition.

But after many years of socially acceptable properties which offer an experience like no other, a whole island Home just blows all the others out of the water.

For the Club is a place and a way of life. There is a cuckoo in the nest, a waiting world desperate to see how the mighty have fallen, and a submerged vehicle containing an unidentified body.

As the suspense builds towards a crescendo, it is all to easy to become immersed, swallowed whole,by the history of the rich, the famous, who are so recognisable, so privileged, that they end up seeking the very anonymity they sold everything to gain. Even their conscience.

I loved the tension, the barbed exchanges between owners and staff that created such an atmosphere from the very first page.

The reader gains such a rounded perspective from the owners who really are tired with being the top of the pile-how do you begin to match the standards which you set yourselves over and over again without ennui setting in?- Annie, who has been involved in the Home Group since the beginning, the cuckoo in the nest, Nikki, who has bagged an incredible role which she seems to have been planning for years.

Interspersed with their stories is the public side of things, the newspaper articles , interviews and exposes which make you think, who really created this monster, and how much do we, as mere plebs, enjoy seeing a well known society figure being brought to their knees?

I was honestly riveted to every plot twist, it was a breathless deep dive into a world so removed from my own that I couldn't envisage it. It made a voyeur of me to a devastating series of events which made me think that perhaps they brought it on themselves. And sometimes, the Club membership price might just cost you your soul. Or your life.
