I received a complimentary copy of Sheer Luck in exchange for an honest review. This was a quick read that really captures the reader's attention from the beginning. The storyline was a little far fetched, but the writing style and content were well done. There was also a bonis involving a second romance with Declan's brother.

1.5/5 stars

I was really hoping this novella duology would be a fun and sexy story about two brothers finding love and breaking their family curse (a silly but potentially entertaining plot), but unfortunately this one didn’t end up working for me.

The first novella I really didn’t like at all. The instalove was off-the-charts and Declan was arrogant, pushy, and just generally a douche during his first real interaction with Lily. Still don’t understand why she went home with him. We’re also only inside his head and so are unfortunately treated to his inexplicably besotted thoughts about how amazing she is. (She’s not “an enigma” dude, you met like five seconds ago, you just don’t know her.) His reasons for being so interested in her include the following infuriating “she’s not like other girls” checklist: she eats “real” food, she recognizes a Casablanca quote, she speaks French, she’s curvy, she’s read both Fifty Shades AND Wuthering Heights, she’s intelligent and witty (absolutely no sign of it on the page though), I could go on and on. And the kicker, of course, is that she’s never had a satisfying sexual experience with a guy until our hero Declan comes along. Honestly, please never let me read about any of these tired tropes about women again. It’s exhausting.

I almost didn’t continue after the first novella, but the second was at least marginally better, mainly because the characters already knew each other so there was less development needed for their relationship to be believable. However, Aiden was completely over dramatic and the plot was basically exactly the same as the first one, silly resolution and all, so ultimately I was left feeling meh about the whole O’Leary family.

Thank you to Kelly Moran and NetGalley for providing me with a review copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Sheer Luck tells two stories. The first of Declan and Lily and the second of his brother Aiden and Aiden's nanny Lily. Both boys thought they were doomed in love with the O'Leary curse - something would happen to those that they loved. After two missed encounters, Declan finally gets Lily's telephone number and they start sleeping together. Declan is afraid to love because of the curse but he does end up falling in love with Lily. Once she presents him with the key to getting rid of the curse, Declan feels that he can freely love her. Sierra is Aiden's son's nanny and one of his best friends. He falls in love with her.

Thank you netgalley and publisher! I am a sucker for Irish anything but this wasn’t for me unfortunately so I had to dnf. However based on other reviews this author has a plethora of other books that might be for me so I will have to check them out asap!

This book involves two novellas: Lucky Me and Blind Luck.

In Lucky Me, Declan O’Leary claims that his family is cursed. For the past one-hundred years, bad things happen if they fall in love. So he lives his life one woman at a time. Until he meets Lily Durand and finds himself wishing for a forever that can never be. A fate encounter and one week of bliss just might be enough to turn his luck around.

In Blind Luck, Aiden O'Leary has lost his wife to the dreaded family curse he's sworn off love. But after his brother has claimed to turn the family luck around, he's starting to wonder if he might not be able to try again. Sierra Reif is his best friend and son’s nanny. And he wants her. But just when it seems he might get a shot at normal, something happens to prove not everyone is destined for an ever-after.

These stories were both written very well and the stories flow easily. This was a quick set of books to read and I really enjoyed them both!

Thanks to NetGalley and the author, Kelly Moran, in exchange for an honest review.

This book contains two novellas about two sexy Irish brothers. The brothers believe that they have a family curse which causes bad things to happen if they fall in love. Declan lives his life with one woman at a time but does not get serious with anyone. Things change when he meets Lily. Aiden's wife died and he feels that the loss of her is due to his family curse. He starts to wonder if he can try to have a relationship again when he starts to have feelings for his best friend and son's nanny. These are fun stories. I recommend this book.

Such a great read! This is the first time I’ve read anything by Kelly Moran, but it definitely will not be the last. The book was beyond sexy and I loved the characters so much. I absolutely devoured it and can’t wait to read more from her. Declan and Aiden were both such great book boyfriends and I loved the world that the author created for them. I highly recommend this one.

Kelly Moran has written some very heartwarming, extremely compelling books. Unfortunately, the novellas in Sheer Luck neither warmed my heart or compelled me to get lost in the stories.

In fact, I was so excited to read Sheer Luck, only to go mark them as “Currently Reading” on Goodreads and discover I’ve previously read the first story, yet had no recollection of doing so. It was four years - and over 600 books - ago, so it’s understandable that I might not remember everything about the story. But usually rereading my review will help spark my memory.

It did not.

And neither did rereading the story.

Lucky Me had an arrogant hero I didn’t care for, and the whole “can’t be with her because of the curse” schtick didn’t work for me. I stand by my original rating of two stars for the first novella in the Sheer Luck duet.

Blind Luck was marginally better. We still have the silly curse as a major storyline, and it’s always frustrating when characters just won’t have an honest freaking conversation. But that still doesn’t leave me with much to recommend this book, especially since the couple had been pining for each other for so freaking long.

I really wanted to like these novellas. Sadly, I did not. I can’t think of any other author whose writing finds me with such polarized opinions. I really, really liked Ms. Moran’s Covington Cove series and Cattenach Ranch series, but her other books have left me feeling out of luck.

This is my first Netgalley review and I can definitely say I wasn't disappointed! I LOVED that it was two stories. I felt connected to both the MMC and was so excited to read more!

My only issue was that it wasn't longer!! I need some more Irish men! Lol

At first, the narrator was off-putting. But as I read further they became more relatable and less abrasive. The storyline was intruging and quickly caught my attention before I knew it. The story and characters were greatly developed and relatable.

Typically i like contemporary romance but decided to try something new. Had great intentions and started to read it. It definitely is not what i was expected. Did not finish.

I really enjoyed these two stories in one book! A tale of two brothers who's family is cursed at love. The characters were easy to invest in. Atmospheric, haunting and superbly plotted.

This was an interesting read with a half decent plot and fun saucy scenes.
It could have been better if it was a full length book, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I really enjoyed these two stories in one book! A tale of two brothers who's family is cursed at love. Both Declan and Aiden guard their hearts from love to keep themselves from enduring the hardships of the curse. But how can they ever truly be happy? These were two easy reads that resolve themselves. The spice level was on point for me, just enough but nothing too crazy. The only part I wasn't particularly fond of would be the terms of endearment used by the male characters for their lovers. They were slightly... cringey, but not enough to affect my overall enjoyment. I would definitely read another title by Kelly Moran!

Fun little read but ultimately a bit short. I felt like I couldn't get into the characters as much as I wanted. The writing was good and the steam was on point.

" To Luck, Love and getting the girl". 🥂

Lucky me (book1)
Declan O'Leary has been single for a long time and it's the Irish family curse that keeps him from ever committing to anyone. Over the past hundred years the curse has brought death and grief to the men of this family; Including his father and brother Aidan. Declan meets Lily Durand and makes a one-week arrangement that leaves him falling for her.

Blind Luck ( book 2)
The story of Aidan (Declans brother) who's been raising his son after the loss of his wife to the family curse. Aidan has been in love with Sierra Reif who's been helping Him out with raising his son while he runs his Irish pub.
Such a sweet story!

This was a light, entertaining and a beautiful story. The smut is hot, these povs have so much chemistry and their backstories simple but to the point. kept me engaged and interested till the very happily ever after ending. Perfect. 5⭐️🌶🌶🌶🌶, Smutt

Thank you to @netgalley for this opportunity to read and review such a great book.

I LOVED THIS! As someone who comes from a very Irish family I felt very connected to the characters, and the superstitious. I also absolutely love Lily and her cleverness. POVs from both brothers was perfect but I do wish I’d gotten duel POVS at the same timeline. It’s a very quick read so I understand why it’s not more detailed or drawn out. Overall 4/5⭐️ And definitely a great March read!

Lucky Me: I thought this was a nice story, but a bit steamier than I was anticipating. It was basically one week of them having sex haha But I liked how the author worked with the curse and the HEA. It also laid the groundwork for the second book. I would give this ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Blind Luck: I really enjoyed this story of Sierra and Aiden going from friends to a relationship. Had a better storyline than the first book and I gave this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
