The Drake House by Kelly Moran.
In her dreams, a ghost demands to be heard...Trisha Eaton has been plagued by mysterious nightmares ever since her parents adopted her as a young girl. She chalked them up to childish nuisances until they return-- with a vengeance. Something about the Drake house next door to her family’s apple orchard haunts her. Now, her night terrors and sleepwalking seem to be luring her to something dark. When a series of strange events crops up, Trisha turns to Nick Mackey. As the new deputy in town, Nick just wants to put his traumatic past behind him. An undeniable attraction for Trisha has piqued interest and has him wondering if a shot at a normal life was possible. But Trisha has somehow struck a nerve, and a long-buried secret. A secret that someone they know will kill to keep veiled. Uncovered answers only seem to lead to more questions in a case where nothing makes sense. One chilling fact remains... some nightmares are all too real.
Brilliant read. Read in one sitting. 5*.

This book will give you chills. I can't recommend this book enough, and I swear I heard voices throughout it. The author created a frightening and unsettling story that kept the readers on their toes until the end. The characters' interactions were strong, and the tension between the main characters, Nick and his girlfriend, Trish, was strange, but I liked it. The Nick character is a man of few words, which made me believe that he was crazy.

Nick is a new deputy in a small town, he came there to escape the big city. However, he can't taste or see color until he meets his girlfriend, Trish. Together, they will uncover some of the secrets of the town. The residents of the small town have secrets as well. One of them is the mysterious woman who has been walking in her sleep, and she has been experiencing nightmares.

Since her parents adopted her when she was young, Trisha has been experiencing strange and unsettling nightmares. These have left her and her family scared, and they return with a vengeance. Throughout the book, readers will learn more about what these nightmares are. However, Ms. Moran's writing will keep them on their toes until the end.

The author keeps the readers guessing throughout the book, and when they discovered that the woman's secret is a shock. Nick is a brooding alpha male, and throughout the story, we learn more about his story. He is dealing with a heavy tragedy, and he made me want to throttle him or hug him at times. The book is about a ghost, a young woman, and a man who loves her. As the characters' interactions were strong, the suspense kept the readers on their toes until the end.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this ghostly book and just in time for halloween

its a slow burner of a book with strange goings on....

trisha is the owner of the apple orchard and employs several men around the place but its her nightly terrors that has everyone worried for her, and her sleep walking where she is found walking outside in the woods and nobody can explain why at certain times of the year they are worse

nick is a cop with a past, one he just cant forget or forgive himself for but the day he met trisha he started to live again...

but this trishas nightmares and deadly wanderings its not long before threatening phone calls and dead bodies start piling up....

this one is a bit darker than some of the other books i have read from this author, and i was interested to find out who the perp was... a slow build up to a frightening climax

Thanks to NetGalley and Kelly Moran for a copy of The Drake House in exchange for an honest review.

What I loved most about The Drake House is how reminiscent it felt of the Dark Secrets series by Elizabeth Chandler, books I devoured as a teenager. A mix of mystery, romance, and the supernatural, The Drake House follows Trisha, owner of a local apple orchard, and Nick, the town's new deputy, as they get drawn into the secrets of the Drake House, the neighboring house to Trisha's property.

Similar to the Dark Secrets series, what I enjoyed most was that although was primarily a romance, the mystery/supernatural elements were strong enough that it kept me completely hooked.

When I first started reading this book I was getting the vibe of "cozy thriller" which I honestly didn't think I would enjoy. After I got 30% in. I saw that it was not that at all. The main character was likeable but I feel like the author put a lot of effort into making it known that she was a strong independent woman. After the umpteenth time reading that I thought "enough already, we get it, she's a badass". I did enjoy the book. Once the events started rolling it was a really quick read. I did kind of see the final twist at the end coming as to who the killer was but the other part about Drake I did not. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys quick paranormal thrillers and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This story is about Nick a policeman who moves to the sleepy town of Small Rapids after he shoots someone in the line of duty and Trish who owns an apple orchard with serious nightmares and sleepwalking to the nearby Drake House. Both have personal demons and live gets more complicated when one of Trish’s employees gets found murdered.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it was a fast pace, well written and fun to read with possibly a ghost thrown in. I did not have an inkling who the culprit was. A fun holiday read for me.

Small Town Ghost Story!!

It kind of reads like a gothic tale but it’s a murder mystery with ghosts.

Trish has bouts of sleepwalking and dreams of The Drake House.

Nick left the big city after a tragedy. He thought a small town would be better. Now he’s the new deputy. He and Trish clash from the get go.

So many secrets in this small town. A little bit of romance and murder everywhere.

This is one creepy tale. This author sure knows how to grab your attention.
