A New Dawn Over Mulberry Lane by Rosie Clarke is a great historical fiction saga that is the eighth book in the excellent Mulberry Lane series.

I have now read all eight books and it is great to be to able to find out what is happening next with the friends, family, and small sub-community centering around Mulberry Lane in London. This book takes us to 1958 and the gang is still recovering from the War.

We get to visit Peggy and Able along with their kids and grandkids. We also get to catch up with Maureen, Gordon, Ruby, and their lives. Of course there are friends Tom and Rose, and I could go on. As always, there are ups and downs, obstacles and triumphs. But as we have also seen in the past, this group sticks together and is there for one another through the good times and bad, and come out in the end optimistic and better for it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, and look forward to the next book to see what happens next.

A New Dawn Over Mulberry Lane by Rosie Clarke is another in saga that Clarke is so well-known for. This one started with WWII and the people that depended on one another to survive, but survive they did, mostly and now they are living in a better world with their children grown or almost grown. Peggy and Able are still working themselves to death between Able and Tom's construction business and Peggy's pub, cake shop, and the boarding house. Maureen and Gordon are still at it, although Gordon's heart is failing and everyone is worried. Their (Gordon's) daughter, Shirley is all set to complete her medical training and come back to the neighborhood to be a doctor, just as she'd planned. Peggy's granddaughter, Maggie, and her daughter, Fay, have decided that running (and upgrading) the pub is for them so they've arrived to help with the cooking and baking, and take some cooking classes to prepare for the future. Life is looking good.

It is like going home, rejoining these people with who we readers have weathered so much. It is heart warming to see the children, grow, fall in love, and get married. Or, if they're not ready for that just to grow and learn. Freddie is having trouble making up his mind if it's university for him and life as a physical education teacher or should he try to become a professional footballer. He has been invited to try out, but what should he do? Of course, there are still some younger children, too. Clarke has a way of writing characters that makes the reader feel as if she knows them, and is really part of their lives. This is just a terrific series. I can wait for the next one to see where everyone's lives take them.

This is the 8th book in this series, however a first for me. I didn't feel that I couldn't follow who everyone was in relation to each other. The characters are so well written that you soon get to know who everyone is and the story is full of a great sense of community. Its set in 1958, so things are slowly returning to some level of normality post WW2. The main stage for A new dawn over Mulberry Lane is the pub run by Peggy. Her family are know growing up and showing interest in working in the pub. The whole community pulls together through good and bad.
It is a very engaging story with great interactions that deal with loss, love, grieving, and the hopes and dreams of the whole lane. I will definitely be looking out for the previous books in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found the writing great and very appealing. Highly recommended.

This is the eighth book in this wonderful series, and I just adore these books! It can be read as a standalone, but it’s much better enjoyed along with the others, and following the journeys of the characters is just pure reading pleasure.

We are now in 1958, and war is over, along with rationing, and life is moving on for the characters. I really loved catching up with everyone and seeing the younger characters growing up and making their life choices.

Central to the book is the pub, the Pig and Whistle, and Peggy is very busy with her family and her businesses. As she enters a new phase in her life, the younger generation are becoming more involved and the new era is a time of great change.

I found it so easy to slot back into the lives of the characters and just soaked up every page of this gorgeous book. Although the characters have to deal with the trials and tribulations of everyday life, there’s still a strong feel-good factor running throughout.

This life affirming and authentic series just keeps getting better and better, and I can’t wait for the next instalment.

A New Dawn Over Mulberry Lane by Rosie Clarke is the eighth novel in The Mulberry Lane series. I recommend reading this delightful series in order. It will allow you to get to know the characters and the storylines. Eight years has passed since Stormy Days on Mulberry Lane ended. It is now 1958 and the food rationing has finally ended. We return to Mulberry Lane where the younger generation is now making plans for their futures. Peggy and Maureen are busy with their businesses and families. The Pig and Whistle does a bustling business each day as does Maureen’s store which her husband, Gordon runs. Peggy and Maureen also have their cake shop. Shirley, Gordon’s daughter, is graduating from medical school and she will be returning home to practice locally. An illness has Fay rethinking her future. Freddie, Fay’s twin, needs to decide what he wants to do after school. Peggy is surprised when Maggie, her granddaughter, expresses interest in working at the pub. Maggie proves quite adept at cooking and has ideas to improve the pub. The new generation is growing up quickly and has plenty of ideas but are Peggy and Maureen ready to let go of the reins. I enjoyed reading A New Dawn Over Mulberry Lane. I have read every book in the series and each one if better than the last. Peggy and Maureen have dealt with so much over the years. The trials are not over yet. I like how everyone pulls together to help each other out on Mulberry Lane. This is a well-written series with developed, friendly characters. Peggy is a woman with great fortitude. She is the lynch pin for the lane along with her husband, Able. There is plenty going on in this saga. I am glad that this story focused on Peggy and Able plus Maureen and Gordon plus their children. We do get to catch up with the others, but they are not the focus this time around. A New Dawn Over Mulberry Lane is one of those books that you do not want to end. I enjoy catching up with the characters from this engaging series. We get to follow the various characters as they go about their daily lives. A New Dawn Over Mulberry Lane is a charming tale with struggle, loss, love, friendships, grief, health issues, change, perseverance, hope, dreams, and endurance. A New Dawn Over Mulberry Lane is a story that will leave you smiling and eager for the next installment.

I’ve loved every book in the Mulberry Lane series it’s been like catching up with old friends as I’ve read them. All the usual characters are in this book, but they concentrate on what’s going on in the lives of the characters children and grandchildren this time. It’s lovely to see the community start to prosper after all the struggles of the war years. I highly recommend this whole series a fabulous read. Well done Rosie they’re all such great characters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's 1958 and A NEW DAWN OVER MULBERRY LANE takes place eight years after the previous book in which the women and their families had overcome many obstacles...such as a devastating car accident leaving one of them in a critical condition, the death of a much-loved resident, attacks in the dead of night as well as the long-awaited pregnancy for one of them ten years after her first child...all while still dealing with the rationing of food that was still in short supply fives years after the war had ended. Now at the height of a decade nearing its end sees a new generation stepping up and out to embarks on their own lives.

The author takes us on a new journey of this new generation as we revisit some old favourites. Whilst the focus was on Peggy, Maureen and Pearl in the previous book, it's their children - Maggie, Fay, Shirley and even Freddie - that shine in this installment alongside Peggy and Maureen. Even Peggy's elder daughter Janet features a lot more as does husband Ryan when the child they had so longed for eight years ago is set to being them heartache once again. As always, there is a lot going on in and around Mulberry Lane and with it are plenty of challenges that each of the families face respectively.

One of the first hurdles is Maureen's husband Gordon struck down with serious health issues whilst their daughter Shirley has completed her training as a doctor in Durham, returning to take up a position she has always intended and trained to do - work with the poor who would never visit a doctor otherwise - and she gains the respect of those vagrants as well as her peers along the way. But what is even more surprising in the budding romance that comes her way when she least expected it. We also see a dawn of a new era in medical advancement with new promises coming their way.

Previously, Peggy's daughter Fay had worked hard to train as a figure skater but after a a health scare that would set her training back months, she decides what she really wants to do is bake. And not just the simple kind. Fay has always dreamed big - first with her skating and now with this new venture. Then when Peggy's granddaughter (and Janet's daughter) Maggie moves to London, she surprises everyone with her big plans to change the Pig & Whistle as they all know it. Together she and Fay devise a plan they both intend to pursue with grandeur and the promise of welcoming results.

Meanwhile, Janet is caught between a rock and a hard place. She loves Ryan but she's far from happy. She is discontent and is beginning to look elsewhere for something that will make her happy. Their young son Jon, whom they had longed for so long, has struggles of his own but tackles them in his own way in silence.

Throughout the story, Peggy and Able Ronoscki are one of the central couples alongside Maureen and Gordon. Now it's their children's time to shine as a new generation brings fresh ideas to Mulberry Lane. We see a little less of Rose and Tom Barton in this book but they are still there on the periphery and will more than likely pop up again in future tales. But the stories that surround the primary characters of this book have enough on their hands to deal with - struggles, loss, grief, health issues as well as hope and new beginnings as change is on the horizon for them all.

I have not been with the series from the beginning so therefore there may have been some key experiences I have missed but each book is written in such a way that you don't miss out, bringing the past back through a little backstory while telling the story of the present. I did find the beginning of this book a little slow to get going but once it did I enjoyed it immensely and find myself looking forward to the next installment.

Already I enjoy some of Rosie Clarke's other series - Harpers Emporium and the new Blackberry Farm - as well as some of her standalones. She has the ability to bring a sense of comfort to her stories that you can just see yourself settling into a comfy seat at Peggy's table to enjoy her delicious shepherd's pie with a helping of apple pie and cream for afters.

As always, Rosie Clarke's sagas are a pleasure to revisit even after some time with her warm sense of family and friendship. If you haven't already had the pleasure of the Mulberry Lane series, I definitely recommend it. Even if you start midway, the author brings enough backstory into the present to bring you to speed that you don't miss out. But of course, starting at the beginning is always the best option, if possible.

I enjoyed my trip to Mulberry Lane once again and I'm glad I made the journey. I look forward to future visits.

I would like to thank #RosieClarke, #Netgalley, #BoldwoodBooks and #RachelsRandomResources for an ARC of #ANewDawnOverMulberryLane in exchange for an honest review.

Another great book in the series about Mulberry Lane. I hope there will be plenty more to come as these are lovely books to read and very well written. This one starts after the war up to the end of the 1950's. This is full of emotion and life as it was lived then. London's East End, that is all you need to know as there's so much that happened there throughout the years. 5 stars

Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this e ARC

Having previously read all the Mulberry Lane novels as well as many others by Rosie Clarke, I was excited to see this one come up on Goodreads.
It did not disappoint and was a great addition to the Mulberry Lane saga. Having read the previous novels it was lovely to pick up with the characters where they left off, however i think it would be just as enjoyable if you'd not read the previous books.

This is the latest book in the Mulberry Lane series and I have really enjoyed reading the books. The author has gradually woven the stories of the family and friends in this series through the years. The author enters another decade, London 1958 sees another generation stepping up and stepping out to embark on their own lives and careers.

The community of Mulberry Lane have been through a lot over the years, they have endured wars, loss, and have seen hardships. Throughout this, though they have stood together and alongside each other. As families grow up so do their children, and the title of this latest book is perfect for the new beginnings of some of the younger members.

Peggy and Able are one of the central couples of this series along with her good friend Maureen. Their children have grown up together and while some have fled the nest and have children of their own, there are also some that are just embarking on their own careers.

In life, nothing is simple and while it would be nice for things to run smoothly, we know it doesn't happen that way. The author brings trouble, strife, grief, loss, hope and new beginnings to her characters as they continue their lives. As some of the residents get older, they are aware that things are harder than they used to be. Moving over slightly to allow the next generation to try new ideas, ways of thinking but still having the same outlook and work ethic is something the author really does work well into her stories. This one is no exception.

The author has such a wonderful way of drawing the reader into the homes and community of Mulberry Lane, at the same time she keeps us up to date with family members that live away. This for me is great as not everyone lives close by and it would be easy for them to become "out of sight, out of mind". That would go against the warmth, caring and closeness of the families in this series.

This is a fabulous series and it brings together so many elements and changes over the years. I do think this is a series that should be read in order, but with each book, the author does a good recap for the characters.

This is one for those that really enjoy historical fiction and romance, of community, family and friendships. A wonderful series and a fabulous read. It is one I would definitely recommend.

A New Dawn Over Mulberry Lane by Rosie Clarke is a marvellous historical novel set in 1958. It is the eighth book in the Mulberry Lane series but can be read as a stand-alone. This was my first trip to Mulberry Lane and I loved it. The background to all the characters was given.
There are two main families, and as with all families at that time, they had both been touched by losses in World War II.
The off-spring are beginning to find their feet as we witness the hopes and dreams of the young adults.
There are hearts that are philanthropic as they want to make a difference. Position and wealth are not their motivating factors, the need that they identify is. Kind hearts see the poor and the marginalised, treating them with kindness and compassion, without thought of personal safety.
Family businesses are being passed down to the next generation who have plans to modernise.
We witness medical professionals who are on the dawn of a new era of medical advances.
There is the sense of community which characters have developed over the years as people look out for each other.
I very much enjoyed my trip to Mulberry Lane and am looking forward to subsequent visits.
I received a free copy from Rachel’s Random Resources via Net Galley. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

Set in London in 1958, A New Dawn Over Mulberry Lane is as beautiful as the previous seven books in the series. Several years have passed but old familiar characters are back as well as new ones, blending comfort with energy and spunk. Young people are now mature adults with children of their own. Historical details harkening to real events are interesting additions to the 1950s feel and descriptions. Rosie Clarke writes about great sorrow, young and older love, perseverance, dreams and hope. She includes unexpected twists and turns, too.

At this stage, Maureen and Peggy have endured great trials and joys. Maureen's family experiences matters of the heart. Her stepdaughter Shirley is passionate about helping disadvantaged people, finds trouble but also courage. Peggy's granddaughter Maggie and friend Fay have a plan...and they pursue it with fabulous results. Marriages are imperfect. But tragedy has an interesting way of changing people. All characters must trust and rely on each other.

Though it sounds trite, this is a very comfy and homey book with oodles of charm. The reader follows the ordinary (and extraordinary) days of several characters over the span of several months. I like that the story is not all roses but also the thorns, just as in real life.

If you haven't had the pleasure of reading the refreshing Mulberry series, you are missing out!

My sincere thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the privilege of reading this lovely book.

Another great instalment of the mulberry lane crowd.
Great to catch up with the ladies old and new. Loving this series and as usual Rosie Clarke has captured the true essence of the community minded people of mulberry lane.
Can’t wait for another visit to the community of mulberry lane.
Highly recommended read and saga .

I absolutely love this series. We have been with Peggy since her oldest children were young and now they have children of their own. Of course life stands still for no one and Peggy and Able 's family has to go through more trials and tribulations in this book. Peggy's friend Maureen receives bad news too and is so happy that Peggy is there to help her through it.
A really great series that I hope will never end. I love Rosies Clarke's books.

I am massive fan of Rosie Clarke's books and was thrilled when I was given the chance to review A New Dawn over Mulberry Lane. I am pleased to say that this book was as good as all of the other Mulberry Lane books. It follows on from the first generation of women in Mulberry Lane and gives us the 'what happened next' that I often find I crave after a series of books ends. I really, really hope this isn't the last we'll hear of Mulberry Lane. I loved this book!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

This is the eighth book in the Mulberry Lane series and I’ve now read all books.

It was good to catch up with the going’s on with the residents on Mulberry Lane in 1958 whilst they are getting over the happenings from the War.

Peggy and Able are continuing to look after their family and grandchildren, and it seems things are changing for them and there’s bad news coming their way. Maureen is also facing a difficult time, (this storyline was a bit close to home for me) as well as some good news too. Then there’s Tom and Rose and the others, so much happening in this book.

Each character is there for others as they face ups and downs, good times and bad.

I’ve enjoyed this series, and hope there is another book to follow as I’d like to see what happens next.

Highly Recommend This Series.

Well Rosie Clarke, you have done it again! Given us a first class read. The thing I love most about Rosie’s books is, it’s like visiting family and friends. All characters instantly recognisable, most of them you like, some more than others. The only drawback is, having to wait until next year for the next in this series. Selfish of me I know.
Loved the reference to the Harpers store.
