So I usually don’t go for a manga with a fantasy creature in the human world, but this one is actually intriguing! I really like the concept of the “fated partner” and how the male love interest doesn’t like women. I also love the gender bender aspect to this! I was SO excited at the end of chapter one when it was revealed!

As always, Toyama has stunning artwork. I seriously can never get over how beautiful it is. And the translation for this manga was very well done too!

I think I’ll be picking up more of this series!

This was fun and the ending left off with me wanting more. If I come across this series in my local library I think I'll continue reading it!

I enjoyed this manga story with all the characters within. The main characters were Mito and Ruka.

Mito  was sleeping and eating at her work place and the owner find out and fired her now she back on the streets. She doesn't have any were to go because no one in her family will let her live with them. While look for a place to work at she meets a guy. He different than most guys because he a vampire. He decides to help her.  He thinks she is a boy and can live with him.

This was a fun stories to read. It had action, adventure and drama throughout. It had a few giggles within.

I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.

"Ouran High School Host Club" meets "Vampire Knight" in this manga that recalls me of the 2010s ones.
The first volume is fast and with zero substance but it was fun and okay. The art is splendid and I love a good vampire story.

So I'm a little bit late to this one. Vampire Dormitory Vol. 1 first dropped in 2019, and I only recently found it. On the bright side, there are plenty more books in the series for me to dive into! (I hope my library has them!).

Mito has had a tough life. She lives on the streets, having been cast out by her family. She has nobody to love or cherish and nobody to care for her. To help make her life a little bit safer, Mito masquerades as a young boy. Yes, she still looks like an exceptionally attractive boy, but this is still safer than the alternative.

Enter Ruka. After rescuing Mito, he takes her into his life, though perhaps not for the reasons you might expect. Ruka is a vampire, and Mito's blood is the first human blood he's tasted in ages. It tastes bitter and sad – the effects of living so long without love. With any luck, Ruka will be able to change that.

Vampire Dormitory Vol. 1 is a solid start to the series. We're quickly introduced to the leading characters, plus a few relevant secondary characters. Likewise, it doesn't take long to understand the gravity of Mito's situation.

Naturally, when Ruka steps in to save the day, I found myself rooting for all this to work out. Even if it does mean that Mito will have to continue hiding who she is (read: a woman). I kind of like this added complication to the story. Even though I can predict how it may end, it'll still be highly entertaining to see it all unfold.

Entertaining. I always love new looks into vampire mythology and this didn't disappoint.

For Libraries: Nothing too extreme to prohibit this from a YA collection.

Vampire Dormitory wasn't what I expected it to be. I did not enjoy the story. It does have some redeeming qualities in the art work.

Mito is alone with no one to care for her and a homeless person she disguises herself as a boy. Ruka is a vampire not really interested in any girl who isn't 2d. When Ruka runs into his place of work he ends up striking up a deal of letting Mito be his blood meal and Mito gets a place to stay safe. He only struck up this deal because he cant talk to girls so not Mito must keep her secrets hidden or who knows what would happen?

This was such an interesting manga. Never read one quiet like it. The whole idea of if someone is in love their blood gets sweeter like strawberry juice kinda threw me. I just found it fascinating. So if Ruka wants Mito to have sweet blood he gotta get Mito to fall in love and as I watched the few moments of him trying to get closer whew! I can't wait to see more plus theres Ren in the picture who you'll find a bit more about I can't wait to see more about him and what's his deal. Just such an interesting manga. Now excuse me while I get ahold of the next volume I'm impatient to see what happens next especially with how this book ended.

I absolutely flew through this adorable start to what I hope will be a fun series! In a world where the more you're loved, the sweeter you taste, an unloved girl who dresses as a boy to avoid catching attention on the streets ends up becoming the thrall of a nerdy vampire who doesn't drink from women.

This went by so fast and I immediately wanted more! The art style was cute, it was funny, and I loved the bond growing between Mito and Ruka. A small touch that I really enjoyed was that Ruka never had any thoughts about being grossed out for reacting to someone he thinks is a guy-- I feel like it's common inside the trope, so I enjoyed him not acting disgusted. I'm really looking forward to reading more!

I'm such a sucker for Vampire manga series. Ever since I first read Vampire Knight in high school, I've been obsessed, so when I saw another series that has vampires + boarding schools, I was so excited!

This story follows Mito, who was orphaned at birth, then passed between extended family members until they were old enough to fend for themselves. After struggling to live and work, they meet Ruka, a vampire, who asks if Mito will become his thrall in exchange for being taken care of.

However, once they start sharing a room and spending time together at boarding school ~feelings~ start to emerge from both of them. This is only complicated by new characters being introduced, and the fact that Mito is hiding a pretty big secret.

This first volume was very slice of life with hints of romance. It was pure fluff, required no serious thinking, and was super entertaining. As soon as I was done the first volume I borrowed the second one from my library online, and am excited to keep reading it as more volumes are issued.

Highly recommend if you're looking for something a little cheesy to read!

Mito doesn't have a family. Ruka is a nerdy vampire. They make an unlikely duo, but when Ruka saves Mito they form an unlikely bond. Mito can live with Ruka in the dorms, but she must remain hidden among their classmates as a boy...and also let Ruka drink from her whenever he wants.

So of course they fall in love. This has all of my favorite manga tropes rolled into one story and I think if you like shojo manga and vampires then you will like this story too. I enjoyed the story and loved the artwork. There is danger but there is also a comical aspect to the two secretly hiding Mito's true identity. I can't wait for the next volume. Even if my library doesn't purchase this title, I sure will.

I've liked the author's other series so I came in with a high level of expectation. There are some emotional taking-advantage of, but the premise is cute.

When I first saw the cover of this manga, I never would have thought this vampire story would look like in this way. It was unique and unexpected. The art work of this manga was really pretty, but the plot and storyline itself felt a bit rushed. Well I know that in first volume you have to make reader intrigued to read others volumes as well. No matter this fat it still was too fast for me.

When I just started it, from first pages you could tell that something is wrong and character has a lot of women features. Later through the story my first thought was confirmed. This shoujo romance part felt a bit weird, you couldn't really name what kind of relationship was that. It wasn't really for me, but if you're a fan of vampires you should enjoy it.

I don't have anything against vampires and surely lot of time went past since I read any book or manga with these creatures. This theme was more last decade, but I still were really happy to see a new vampire story, especially romance.

Thanks to Kodansha and Net Galley as always for providing us an online copy of this manga in exchange for an honest review.

We begin the story with Mito, who seems to be a handsome boy full of problems and misunderstandings. Everywhere he goes girls are falling for him and that makes for a lot of trouble. He encounters Ruka, a vampire. At the taste of Miko's blood, Ruka realizes that he has never been loved and is convinced to give him a loved life so his blood will taste better. Turns out Ruka only wants to feed from boys which will them become a bigger problem since Mito is not a boy but a girl who has lived her life in disguise.

I have to stay the story is quite simple and does not contain a big plot or problem. It makes the story very easy to read but it does lack a bit of entertainment. It is also very short and it think it was a very simple way of introducing characters and has the potential if getting better.

(Thank you Netgalley for an eARC in exchange for a review)

5/5 ⭐️
Okay so I’m definitely going to read the rest of the series! It was really good! Funny with likeable characters, and of course paranormal creatures. Who doesn’t love vampires?

Vampire Dormitory is about Mito who was kicked out of her home and now crossdresses as a guy to stay safe. Due to certain circumstances she meets Ruka and he begins to use her for blood under the assumption she's a male.
Overall this was okay. I like the artstyle but I'm not really a fan of crossdressing aspect of the story. Having the "romantic" moments between Mito and Ruka were off for me because of how Mito was hiding and Ruka specfically not wanting to feed off a girl. I don't think the series is bad but it's not for me

This first volume of Vampire Dormitory is fast-paced, almost too much in my opinion. Mito is a teenage girl with nowhere to live that is until she meets Ruka, a vampire who happens to love manga. This simple but fun premise was enough to get me interested. I was hoping to find my new favorite manga but after this first volume my impression is that the story kinda felt dry. Yes, even with all of those classic tropes that shoujo mangas are well known for (for example the first encounter between Mito and Ruka, the following rejection, etc.)

The main characters, Mito and Ruka, do have some fun qualities that makes them interesting. Their dynamic as a pair/couple is... complicated, so i''m kinda on the fence about that element of the story. As for the drawing style; I found it cute and the scenes with depiction of movement are well done. The manga does have some really fun moments but at the end I just hoped the story managed to get more consistent.

Overall Vampire Dormitory has a kinda of OHSHC vibes, that's the main reason I read this to be honest. So if you like Ouran and are interested in a vampire story within the comedy-romance realm, this is a nice reading with lovely artwork. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me an ARC.
