I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Loved this book, was a lovely read set in 1963 in Provence following Alexandra who travels to Paris after finishing school in Switzerland and accepts a job as a nanny however doesn't really feel as though she fits in. Felt this had a really cute storyline and a nice clean romance. Perfect for a holiday read

Katie Fforde’s novel, “A Wedding in Provence,” whisks readers away to the picturesque landscapes of southern France, immersing them in a delightful and heartwarming tale. With her signature blend of romance, humor, and scenic descriptions, Fforde delivers a charming story that will leave you yearning for a French adventure of your own.

The book centers around Gina, a recent divorcee who decides to attend her ex-husband’s wedding in Provence, despite her reservations. As Gina arrives in the sun-soaked countryside, she finds herself drawn to the local charm, the fragrant lavender fields, and the possibility of new beginnings. Alongside her, Fforde introduces a cast of colorful characters, each with their own dreams, secrets, and desires.

Fforde’s writing effortlessly transports readers into the heart of Provence, painting vivid landscapes and capturing the region’s essence. From quaint villages to bustling markets, she expertly weaves these settings into the story, making them feel like additional characters. Through her evocative descriptions, readers can practically smell the lavender, taste the delectable French cuisine, and feel the warmth of the Mediterranean sun on their skin.

Beyond the idyllic backdrop, Fforde excels in creating relatable and endearing characters. Gina is a strong and resilient protagonist, navigating her way through unexpected encounters and personal growth. The supporting characters add depth and humor to the narrative, and their intertwining stories create an engaging web of relationships.

While “A Wedding in Provence” leans towards predictability in its romance plotlines, Fforde’s witty dialogue and genuine moments of vulnerability keep the story engaging. The exploration of themes like second chances, self-discovery, and the power of following one’s passion adds emotional depth to the narrative, making it more than just a simple love story.

At its core it is a delightful escape, whisking readers away to a captivating world of love, friendship, and the allure of the French countryside. Fforde’s writing style and her ability to create a vivid sense of place make this book a perfect choice for anyone seeking an enjoyable and heartwarming read. Whether you’re a fan of romance, travel, or simply in need of a literary getaway, this novel will transport you to the beauty of Provence and leave you longing for your own romantic adventure.

I’ve read a few of Fforde’s books now and will look out for more!

I really loved the book. The writing, the characters, the setting… we’re all perfect. I would have given it five stars if it weren’t for the ending… I wanted it to carry on or give a final chapter a couple of years later.

When you want a guaranteed good romantic feel good read pick Katie Ffjorde! It only took a couple of pages before the book has you encapsulated and this particular one finds us in France in 1963! It's a 2nd book apparantly but can be read as a stand alone. Lie back and enjoy!

The writing in this book is definitely unique and the coincidences where a bit unbelievable. But I don't know what it is but I just found it really boring like I am currently 5 chapters in and I'm just like this is kind of dull. So unfortunately I will be dnfing as I just don't think I care to continue which is disappointing as I heard great things about Katie Fforde's writing.

I've been a fan of Katie's for a while now. This story took a little while to get my attention, though when it did, I was able to settle back and enjoy the journey the author took me on. Unusually set in 60's France, this was my only issue, as I had a little trouble with the setting otherwise, pure Katie.

I had heard so much about the amazing Katie Fforde and was loathe to admit I'd actually never read any of her books! This book was a great introduction, however, and I will definitely be going back for more. It is set in the 1960's which I found intriguing, although at times I felt I needed to be reminded of the time. Set in France, where our lead has become nanny for three lovely children, I quickly fell into the loveliness of the settings-a wonderful chateau, and the lightness of the day to day tending to children on your own in a new country. It was a very light read, with more wistful romance than comedy, with some dramatic French characters peppered throughout, but I smiled a good few times and really enjoyed. Actually I jumped between the audiobook and kindle for this when I wasn't in the car so I definitely enjoyed enough to read on.Thanks so much to the publisher for the book in return for an honest review.

Enjoyable, set in Provence during the 1960s. A chateau, 3 children, one handsome Comte, one disapproving Grandmere, one estranged mother, one guy friend all make for a light, quick read, perfect holiday book.

Thanks to Netgalley for my copy in return for my unbiased review

Well this wasn't what I was expecting but did enjoy it once I got into it
Set in France in the 60's Alexandria is 20 and set to go to a finishing school in Switzerland but doesn't really want to go so manages to get a job as a temporary nanny to 3 children whose father is a count and works away a lot
Can she get along with the children or will she have to go to Switzerland?
