Classic Katie Fforde, you really can’t go wrong with her books when you want something light to distract from the world around you. Whilst this is a follow up you can read it as a stand alone book

Loved this book from start to finish. Read it in 48 hours. I’ve read all her novels and this one didn’t disappoint. Would highly recommend.

I love Katie Fforde's style of writing. I have enjoyed all of her books so far. However, this one did not feel like one of her stories until much further into it. I can't quite put my finger on why that is and I still very much enjoyed it but I didn't get that same humour and warmth that I usually feel all the way through until around the last 30%. I loved the children, especially little Stephie, who stole the show. Milou, the dog, was another star and key to getting the story back onto the proven formula that makes these books so successful.

It was wonderful to spend a rainy day in January in 60s Provence and Katie Fforde provided the perfect getaway while actually self-isolating at home!  I discovered Fforde’s novels over 15 years ago and every time I pick one up it feels like I’ve slipped on my cosiest clothes and all my troubles suddenly transport away.  Antoine is the perfect Comte and the slow burn romance between him and Alexandra was perfectly timed and brilliantly written.  Clearly in love but choosing not to act on it due to the age gap and their positions in society meant that I felt my heart growing bigger with each page I read.  The supporting cast of Antione’s three children, friends David and Jack and the scary ex-wife and mother in law are wonderful additions and sub plots weaving through the main narrative.
 
All in all, another wonderful read from Ms Fforde and I look forward to my next comfort session!

Alexandra is reluctantly on her way to finishing school in Switzerland, when a chance meeting in Paris leads her to a temporary nanny job in a chateau in Provence.
There follows all the beautiful locations and fun characters expected in a Fforde book. Romance, friendship, laughs.
The storyline is good and you know what you're getting with Katie Fforde's books, although on this occasion I don't feel the early 1960's setting worked. I'm a fan of Katie Fforde's books, but this was not one of my favourites.

I’ve read many Katie Fforde novels and enjoyed them all. This was no exception. Although I’ve not read the previous book it reads well as a stand alone novel. The characters are generally likeable but I found the 1960s references strangely lacking. A pleasant read.

A thoroughly enjoyable story of a girl called Alexandra who finds herself becoming a nanny to 3 children in Provence who are hostile at first but she soon wins them around. The most challenging part of her job is dealing with their father Antoine who is has to keep going away so leaving his to Alexandra. The children soon learn to trust Alexandra especially when their mother turns up and tries to interfere but Alexandra puts the children first.
A perfect way to relax in the evening with a feel good book, Katie Fforde is queen of a warm uplifting book.
Would highly recommend, cannot wait for the next book.

'A Wedding in Provence' is a lovely light-hearted read. It follows one of the characters from Katie Fforde's previous novel. This is also set in the 1960's, this time in Provence. Although it contained details of both the setting and the time, I would have liked more. That said, it was an enjoyable read. The main character is on her way to finishing school in Switzerland when she is unexpectedly offered a short-term job as a nanny. Embracing the chance to put off going to her relations, she throws herself into her new life, taming children, learning new skills and falling in love at the same time.

I have read Katie Fford books before so I pretty much knew what to expect. This was a little bit 'twee' for me, reminding me of The Sound of Music story in some ways, in a slightly more modern era. I had to keep reminding myself this was set in the early 1960' s as otherwise I would have found myself thinking that some of the behaviour and customs were silly- how far we have come in the years since then!. Fairly predictable, I still found it easy to read without having to think too deeply, and as always, Katie's books are quite uplifting; if only life were that simple now.

I came for the setting, Provence, and stayed for the characters and the quality of the writing. I’m not a great fan of romantic novels, but this was on a much higher level than others I’ve read. The themes of family; the roles taken on by others when there has been a loss; and the time setting made it interesting and absorbing. I enjoyed the descriptions of fashion and manners, and the depiction of Paris and Provence in a simpler time.

A Wedding in Provence is perfect, delicious escapism. I raced through this easy-to-read, fairly predictable but nonetheless hugely enjoyable book. Alexandra stumbles into a job as a nanny in a castle in Provence, and falls in love with the handsome Count who owns it. Katie Fforde really knows how to draw her readers in by pulling on their heartstrings. She introduces loads of wonderful characters we grow to love, as well as just enough difficult characters for balance. She throws in everything she knows her readers love – surprises, twists, difficulties, secret romances and long-lost relationships. She writes with such exuberance. This story bubbles over, full as it is with love and joy.

This book nicely follows on from A Wedding in the Country, where we first meet Alexandra & later some previous characters. This book can be read as a stand alone, but i would recommend reading the earlier book too. Alexandra(Lexi) hasn't had a conventional upbringing being raised by assorted nannies in place of her parents that sadly passed away. Lexi is set to inherit a substantial amount of money in the future, her relations that still have guardianship, insist on her going to Switzerland to finishing school. On her way, she stops at Paris & this is where she meets Donna & her circumstances are set to change her life forever.

Thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this story, it brought all the characters to life and was full of emotion, romance, sadness and happiness.

I have been a fan of Katie Fforde from the beginning so was very excited to get this to read. This book is set in 1950,s France, where even the basic amenities of the time seem charming. The array of characters and the sub plots within really grab your attention, and the lovely ending left me sad to leave the book behind. Thoroughly recommend this for a really enjoyable escapist read.

Another really delightful novel from Katie Fforde. This one did not disappoint. Loved the all the characters and the settings..both Paris and the chateau. Not an easy option for Lexi, but an engaging journey of her time with her charges and the Count.
I was tempted to read in one hit..but wanted to savour..so rationed myself!! Already looking forward to Katie Fforde's next offering.

This is another of Katie Fforde's novels set in the early 60's, following on from A Wedding in the Country. It even features cross overs with some of the characters in that book, although this one is sent in France. The main character is Lexi who finds herself working as a nanny to a family in Provence as an alternative to being sent to finishing school in Switzerland. As you can imagine, family life does not always run smoothly, especially when you add in a bitter ex-wife and over-sized dog into the mix.

A Wedding in Provence is a great 'beach read', it's light hearted and frothy and perfect for a bit of escapism.

I love Katie Fforde and this book did not disappoint. A feel good escapist book that is a perfect holiday read.

A feel good, easy romantic read!

I read this book in a weekend. It’s the first Katie Fforde book I’ve read and I found it easy to get into and enjoyable to read. The descriptions of Paris and Provence painted a great background and I enjoyed the development of the characters and the story. At times it felt a bit drawn out, but at others, like one or two of the relationships between characters could have been more developed. But overall a great read and an author I’d happily check out in the future.
