This was a great story but more of a romantic element than thriller, but still an entertaining read. Will read more in future.

I have loved Rhyannon Byrd's books for a long time and she is one of my go to authors on my read shelf. New York Scandal is a good example on why. This book is HOT. Oh boy, sexy doesn't begin to cover it. Love, love, loved it!

💭I have read none of the previous books in the series but I have them on my to be read shelf now because of this story. I’ve noticed that the author is new to me as well, so I was intrigued by this title even more.

Living her life on the run, Lottie didn't expect to be recognised and helped by a man that crossed her path years ago. From the met go, this story is full of suspenseful moments where she's trying to escape her past and someone who's set on making her disappear for good.

Callan is there with her at all times, and while they trust and know each other better, so their chemistry and relationship blooms.

A few hilarious moments and many twisted turns along the way, but an entertaining story overall.

I'm looking forward to read more by the author in the future.

Very grateful for my review copy

I DNF’d this book at around 15% and this saddens me more than I can say. I actually love this author and I LOVED one of her paranormal series and followed it for years. I was super excited to read something new of hers as it’s been a couple of years for me but the insta love was too dramatic and unbelievable so I just couldn’t buy into it.

Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read New York scandal by Rhyannon Byrd. Rhyannon was an author I read years ago, and I was looking forward to start reading again. Unfortunately, I really couldn't get into the characters, or the story, and kept putting it down. It was touted as a stand alone, but I felt like I had stepped into the middle of trilogy -- and so I finally picked it up and pushed through 21/2 stars rounded up to 3.

New York Scandal is a story of deceit, anguish, and murder. I enjoyed the concept of the story and found the characters likable and engaging. An overall well delivered romantic suspense, I will recommend this story and continue to read more by this author.

Tired, trite, formulaic - and that mother-sister interrupted sex scene? Cringeworthy

I used to read this author in her angsty Ellora's Cave days, when she was among the best of the crop, which showed in how she went mainstream with Harlequin. I've really enjoyed her PNR stuff but hadn't read any contemporary romances, so I was glad to see this come up for review.

Whilst there's enough hinted at and covered so that readers who're new to the series won't be lost, it sounds like it's lifted stuff from pretty much any number of NYT romances and pasted them and that made the tale rather mundane, despite the premise. But, there were hints of stuff that might make it worth reading. However, the sex talk was cringeworthy and felt planted, and the sex scene felt even more so, coming out of the blue as it did, as if the female lead's neck suddenly randomly spasmed and she ended up...putting her mouth to use. And do not get me started about the abortive sex scene that got interrupted by the male lead's mother and sister walking into his apartment unannounced, with only a piece of furniture protecting the leads' modesty. Add in a sibling spat that takes place during this aborted sex scene, that felt utterly planted and as if the author was desperate to move her tale out of mundanity, and I couldn't take any more.

I was given this book for an honest review! Great story with well written and likable characters! Definitely an entertaining romantic suspense! I hate reviews that have spoilers so I will only say this book is definitely worth the read. Since this is the 1st I have read from this author, I will be looking at her other books as well!

After witnessing the horrifying murder of her husband and then being framed, Lottie Beckett is on the run, hiding out in New York City for the past fourteen months. Even though she had been extra cautious and constantly looking over her shoulder, she didn’t think anyone should be able to recognize her. But she was not expecting Callan Hallaway. Her disguise was good, but he still knew her, she was the woman he has been thinking about ever since he first saw her marry another man. He never believed she had killed her husband and now that he has found her, he was determined to protect her and never let her go.

In Lottie and Callan’s story, we are all taken on a suspense-driven roller coaster ride with so many secrets and so many twists and turns. The evil that has been stalking Lottie was horrific but she was no longer alone. She had a slew of people wanting to help her. And she also had Callan, whom she felt that strong connection with all those months ago. Even with the danger looming, the chemistry was intense and they both did not want to deny it any longer. After so many nail-biting moments and so many close calls, my heart was so happy when the two of them were finally safe and able to be together.

Thank you Netgalley and Headline Eternal for the complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Although indicated as a standalone I was a little lost when I first started. I think maybe I should have read previous works. Lottie and Callan were interesting characters and the overall plot was intriguing, however, as the story progressed I found it to be so predictable and certain points ridiculous. How do security and protection experts always miss the mark?
