I love this series of books. Each book gets better following the police as a story in itself through each book but having a separate story as well. Totally recommend as well as the 3 previous books.

Little Sister by Gytha Lodge is a thrilling and intense novel that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page. The story follows two sisters, Keely and Nina, who disappear without a trace. When Keely returns, covered in blood, Detective Jonah Sheens is determined to uncover the truth about what happened to Nina.

The novel is told through Keely's perspective as she recounts her story from the beginning to Detective Jonah Sheens. As she shares her memories, it becomes clear that Keely is a complicated character with many layers. She is traumatized by what she experienced but at the same time, she is also hiding something. As readers follow Keely's story, they will be kept guessing about what really happened to Nina and what Keely is hiding.

The pacing of the novel is excellent. Gytha Lodge does an excellent job of building suspense throughout the novel. The story is well-paced, with each chapter adding to the tension. Readers will be kept guessing about what happened to Nina until the very end.

One of the things I loved about Little Sister is the characterization. Each character is complex and well-rounded, with their own unique motivations and backstories. Keely is an excellent protagonist who readers will sympathize with. Detective Jonah Sheens is also an intriguing character, with his own issues and demons. The other characters in the novel are equally well-drawn and help to add depth to the story.

The novel also explores important themes such as family, trauma, and mental illness. It highlights the complex relationship between sisters and the effects of trauma on a person's mental health. These themes add depth and complexity to the novel and make it more than just a simple mystery.

Overall, Little Sister is a fantastic novel that I highly recommend. It is well-written, with complex characters and an intriguing plot that will keep readers hooked. Gytha Lodge has done an excellent job of building suspense and keeping readers guessing until the very end. This is a must-read for fans of mystery and suspense novels.

Little Sister by Gytha Lodge is an outstanding story with a riveting storyline. It tells the story of three young people brought up in the care system and how they were repeatedly let down and not believed. The book is a masterclass in storytelling and is one of the best tales of a broken care system that I have read recently.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, as I have enjoyed all other books by Gytha Lodge.
Highly recommended.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest, independent review.

A teenage girl wanders out of the woods, covered in blood, directly into the path of Detective Jonah Sheens. He quickly discovers Keely disappeared with her sister Nina from a children's home a week ago... but Nina's still missing.

Keely knows exactly where her sister is, but will not reveal if she is the killer, witness or victim. First, Jonah and his team must give her their full attention as she leads them on a cat-and-mouse game full of clues.

I found Little Sister a little slow-paced for a thriller. I sometimes felt confused and drifted away, which led to me being confused when the big twist happened, plus the twist is a little confusing in itself.

I enjoyed the multiple POVs and varying timeframes, helping me get to know each character. This also helped the story develop and the reader understand what had happened in the past.

The book covers many sensitive topics, which doesn't make it an easy read at times, but it shines an important light on issues within the care system.

This is the fourth book in the DCI Jonah Sheens series, but can easily be read as a standalone as there is enough background information about each character.

This was gripping, twisty and kept me engaged the whole way through. I have loved the previous books I have read by this author and this one did not disappoint at all

Shamefully I had had Gytha's first book, She Lies in Wait sitting on my Kindle since July 2019 and so, whilst I was off work ill I decided to finally read it, and I SO glad that I did! I absolutely loved it and devoured Lie Beside Me and Watching From the Dark immediately after. And so, to Little Sister, which is just as brilliant as the previous three books.

Gytha has created a wonderful cast of characters who I connected with and who I really cared about. Jonah and his team are brilliantly portrayed, with their own stories adding to the plot rather than distracting from it. Then there is the mystery, which is inventive, intriguing and devastating. I didn't see any of it coming at all, and was engrossed in the twists and turns.

This series reminds me of Tana French's Dublin Murder Squad books and were just what I needed. The only problem is, I have to wait to read the next one. Highly recommended.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc of this book by Gytha Lodge

5 star read- such a immense, gripping, page turner I read this fast within 24 hours and I do recommend who are wanting to pick this up!

Little Sister is an excellent thriller incorporating many twists and turns and with so much police procedural details, I almost felt that I was taking part in the investigation. The storyline is complex, leaving the reader and indeed the detectives doubting the veracity of the main witness. There’s just the right amount of personal details disclosed about the detective team and it’s easy to relate to them and be drawn into their lives.

I wholeheartedly recommend this one to anyone who enjoys a detective thriller. My thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.

This book was slow going for me. There are trivial things described that I do not need to know about. All in all it was an OK read.

Another instalment featuring DCI Jonah Sheens and his team. This time a young girl covered in blood approaches Jonah while off duty, it is down to Jonah and team to find out where her sister is before it is too late.
Another great read from Gytha Lodge, I am really enjoying reading each novel featuring Jonah and team.

Gytha Lodge has really upped her game with this brilliant thriller.

The character of Keeley was intriguing and I could feel Jonah's frustration as he failed to get a handle on this complex case. I loved that there were clues scattered throughout Keeley's interviews that you had to be concentrating in order to notice.

This is a brilliant study in abuses of power, revenge and the inequity in society.

Another exciting instalment in the DCI Sheens series. Lots of clever twists and turns in a storyline slightly different from the usual police procedural type of book.
Lots of suspense and drama. A lesson for us all not to take everything at face value and to keep an open mind. First impressions can be deceiving.
