I’m going to struggle to say much without giving away any spoilers but… Wow. DCI Sheens and my favourite team are back with a bang! The case that they’re working on is SO different and original, I have never read anything like it before. I feel like I’ve finally crashed back down to Earth after a few days devouring this book. #LittleSister has a huge twist that you do not see coming at all, I felt like I was kept on the edge of my seat whilst reading.

Although I haven’t been waiting too long for this next instalment, it’s felt like a lifetime because the characters really get under your skin and you miss them once you put the books down. #LittleSister is so intricately plotted that it’s such a joy to sit back and enjoy where it takes you. Making sense of clues and experiencing that “lightbulb moment” along with the detectives is one of my favourite things and Gytha gets it spot on every time.

@gythalodge please take a bow, #LittleSister is incredible. 👏

I've enjoyed all of the books so far in Lodge's Detective Jonah Sheens series but sadly I found Little Sister to be a disappointing read and the weakest of the novels so far. Two sisters- Kelly and Nina - disappear and when Keely reappears covered in blood it's up to Sheens and his team to discover the truth behind what Keely tells them in their bid to find Nina. Lodge writes well but for me this was a rather slow read and I found it hard to absorb myself in Keely's story. I would have liked more of the police procedural aspect and further insight into the lives of Sheens and his team.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

I've found recently that whilst I always consider myself a fan of thrillers, I've really struggled to get into any of the more psychological thrillers that over read recently, always finding them so drawn out and long winder with very little action actually happening. This book changed everything!!!!! I only received an advanced copy yesterday and even 2 days before Xmas, whilst working full time, I just couldn't stop reading it. Hey, Christmas wrapping can wait! It's not a gore fest or full of murder, it's so much cleverer than that. It has the pace of an action packed rollercoaster ride and is so cleverly written that you are literally constantly trying to figure out where it's all going. Which you won't. Not until the very end. It keeps you guessing and just when you think you've got a handle on one aspect, something else just spins that theory on its head. It's easily one of the best books I've read this year. The characters are all so layered and so just perfectly written. They're human, they make human mistakes and human decisions and it makes it all the more easier to really care about where the story is going. The actual plot...... its genius! Absolute genius. There's no shock value, there's no predictive story lines, it's so unlike any other book you'll have read and you will just devour it, any chance you get. Even the writing style just makes it such a joy to read and carried the narrates beautifully. There's no paragraphs just to up the word count, ever single line of the story is relevant and you need to pay attention to. Its just...... honestly, whatever plans you thought you had. .... cancel them, and spend the night getting lost in this amazing story. I just can't speak highly enough of it. I'll be off downloading all other books by this amazing author

Excellent and Intelligent.
Imagine you've two children and both go missing and only one is found. How'd you feel? This awesome novel tells this story.
Detective Jonah Sheens is enjoying a moment of peace and quiet, when a teenage girl wanders out of the wood.
She's striking, with flame-red hair and a pale complexion.She's also covered in blood. She insists she's fine. It's her sister he needs to worry about. Jonah quickly discovers that Keely and her sister, Nina, disappeared from a children's home a week ago. Now, Keely is here - but Nina's still missing. Keely likes to play games. She knows where her sister is - but before she tells, she wants Jonah's full attention. Is she killer, witness, or victim? And will Jonah find out what Keely's hiding, in time to save Nina?
I loved it. Wow. What a brilliant twist at the end.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Michael Joseph UK for giving me an advance copy.
