A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

So, this book. Yes and no. Yes - it was light - hearted, not too demanding and engaging. The characters were sometimes frustrating, sometimes lovely, for a long time I wasn't sure who is who in the Farleigh Manor party to be honest, but it's not a thing that bothered me too much.

No - because, well, it was very simple. I mean, I didn't gues who did it. I was thinking hard together with Prudence and I think that actually I've accused every single character in this book, but in the end I didn't guess, as there was no right motivation to this whole murder thing. A lot of things were falling perfectly into places, people appearing at the right moments, great ideas coming out of the blue. The way it was written and explained, well, I wouldn't guess it in a million year. The other thing is, would I want to guess it? Every single characters has been taken to the table and thoroughly analyzed, only so that we would suspect all of them.

This is the first in the Prudence Bulstrode series and, all my issues aside, I am already looking forward to reading the next book in the series, because "The Last Supper" was an adorable, relaxing cosy - crime. I wouldn't call it irresistible, but there was something in this book, in the writing style, that made me go back to it to keep reading. It was easy, not too complicated, not too finessed, everything was too convenient, but altogether I enjoyed it, and what more do you want, right?

Prudence Bulstrode. You know her. Famous face. You've seen her on the telly. She's a cook. Not that one. Or that one....

Grandmother Prudence has spent her professional life in the shadow of rival Deirdre Shaw. And when Deirdre is found dead at a swish shooting weekend she was catering, predictably Prudence is asked to take over.

And finds, thanks in part to reluctant kitchen assistant granddaughter Suki, that all is not well. Farleigh Manor has a history...and its present doesn't turn out to be too pleasant either.

Prudence suspects Deirdre's death was not natural, and sets out to investigate.

Brilliantly funny - can't wait for the next adventure

This story is about an older female chef who used to be a frequent fixture on TV cookery programmes; one of our country’s best. It is written by Rosemary Shrager, an older female chef who used to be a frequent fixture on TV cookery programmes; one of our best. Well, write what you know I suppose. But, I mean, who doesn’t love Rosemary Shrager, she seems like such a lovely lady.

Maybe it was just me, but the way Rosemary described Prudence made me think very hard of our much-loved Prue Leith; the same with Deirdre, who strikes quite the resemblance to dear Dame Mary Berry. Maybe it’s just because I love cookery programmes, but I thought this was a nice touch (intentional or not). Oh how I’d love to see a cookery programme starring the three of them.

Throughout the entire book, in every word, you can hear Rosemary’s voice.

It starts off as a nice, twee little village fete, which lulls you into a false sense of security and suddenly there’s a death and it all becomes a bit Agatha Christie.

It’s not the most finessed murder mystery in my opinion, but there is a definite sense of Miss Marple about it. It is entertaining and funny, exciting but gentle. It’s easy to read (I read it in a day), but has enough for readers to get their teeth into, trying to solve the deaths. And like any good murder mystery, I wasn’t able to work out the identity of the true culprit at all.

Food And Fatalities…
When her old television rival Deirdre Shaw is found dead in a Cotswolds Manor House, whilst catering for a shooting weekend, Prudence is asked to step in. Prudence is not shy of coming forwards but soon begins to have her suspicions about the death of Deirdre and decides to turn amateur sleuth. This hugely anticipated cosy mystery certainly doesn’t disappoint, with an endearing and well crafted new sleuth in Prudence and an equally well crafted cast of supporting characters, a fun and frothy storyline and some surprises along the way. Get ready to welcome, with open arms, the new sleuth in the world of cosy mystery.

The last supper by Rosemary Shrager

‘Serve up supper’ said Prudence
‘Yes, Grandma. And serve up some justice as well’

Murder and food.. a classic cosy mystery combination..

I love a really good cosy murder mystery book and this is a really good one- it’s a little treat..

Prudence is the Prue Leith I suppose to Deirdre’s Mary Berry, Deirdre got the good telly shows and Prudence got the ones that she did not want but Prudence doesn’t seem to mind as she has made a good life for herself while Deirdre is not very well liked.
When word reaches Prudence that Deirdre has died in the middle of a private chef job and she is wanted to finish the job Prudence jumps at the chance as she smells something fishy in the manner of Deirdre death.. bringing her grand daughter Suki along for the ride to investigate..

This is the first in a new series of Prudence Bulstrode mysteries and I throughly enjoyed it and I cannot wait to read more adventures from this author.
It’s a really enjoyable book, simply written and the ending and unveiling were both a shock and confidently handled.. all ends wrapped up and now I need the next one.

I liked Prudence she is a no nonsense kind of older lady, who is recently widowed and at a lose end, she hates new technology but has a good heart and loves her granddaughter Suki and wants the best for her.. I loved Suki and Prudences relationship.. they are two totally opposite sides of the same coin.. love love love!!

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series which the author has given a small peak at in the end of the book.. I will be adding this author to my cosy mystery list to look out for..

I was so excited when I found out that Rosemary had written a book, I love her as a chef so was intrigued to see what her book was going to be like. I thoroughly enjoyed this read, and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next. It was such a great story with a fantastic selection of characters, when reading it, I felt as though I could hear Rosemary reading it to me. I found it a light hearted murder mystery that brings all the elements together in a huge cooking pot. I knew Rosemary was a brilliant chef but god she can brilliantly well too. This is going to be a huge hit when it comes out.

I enjoyed this book. I did get vibes of The Thursday Murder Club to start I must admit. I could almost at times hear the wonderful Rosemary Schrager’s voice reading the chapters! A fun read.
