Page turner with plenty of twists and turns. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I just start with that this was the first book I have read by this author and my review would not put my off reading any more of her novels.
Grace Is a mother who loves her husband and her daughter so who does she believe when Kaia starts to say her dad is hurting her??
I enjoyed the story but felt there was a lot missing from Marcus’ story and an opportunity to see how his side of things happened.
I was concerned that the hospital, school did nothing sooner about Kaias revelations.
However I did not predict the ending and the last 20% I couldn’t put down as I was intrigued with how the story was evolving.
Enjoyable read with good length of chapters and excellent writing.

This fast-paced, twisty and completely blindsiding thriller is an absolute must-read if you like your books with a lot of drama. It had me on the edge of my seat, and the surprises jumped out at me right the way through. The ending was one I didn't see coming, and I appreicated how well written the characters were in this novel. Would highly recommend!

I throughly enjoyed Every Little Secret. This is a gripping psychological thriller, which includes a difficult moral dilemma.
The four main characters, all with faults, were well developed and interesting.
The twists and turns were great and, in the main, not predictable.
This is my first Sarah Clarke book and I look forward to reading more from her.
Thank you to Netgalley, Sarah Clarke and HQ Digital for this advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

My thanks to NetGalley and publisher HQ for the electronic copy.

I rather enjoyed this suspense thriller. It's well-written with some good characters and believable dialogue which moves the story along from a benign start into depths of mistrust; there's way more than one little secret at play here!

Grace and her brother Josh come from a monied family and were sent away to separate boarding schools, so were never really close. Josh is now a Professor of psychology in America. Marcus was a scholarship boy, whose talent on the Rugby field gets him to the same "posh" school as Josh and, although he and Josh become friends, Marcus gradually comes to hate him. In the Summer of 2005 Marcus spends a lot of time with Josh at his home, together with Grace and her best friend, Coco; she goes on to become a globe-trotting party girl living off her rich parents' money and she and Grace lose touch.

Now, Grace and Marcus have been married for 14 years and have a 7yr-old daughter Kaia. Seven years previously Marcus's career with the New Zealand All Blacks ended in injury; they moved back to near London and he's struggling to get his sports marketing agency off the ground. Grace illustrates children's books.

Told from the main characters' points of view the narrative brings the past into the present. Because the past is full of secrets, and Grace and Marcus, along with Grace's parents, share the biggest one of all.

Following an accident where Kaia falls out of a tree, Kaia starts to make accusations against Marcus, her behaviour at school deteriorates, and Grace is forced to consider getting Kaia a therapist, BUT............... that could lead to their secret no longer being safe.................... she has to protect Kaia. Marcus is in despair trying to defend himself and their marriage is splintering. In the absence of Coco, Grace turns to her brother for help - surely he'd be able to offer some insight into Kaia's behaviour?

There is only one unconditional love - that of a mother for her child; but it doesn't mean the child will love you in return - does it?

There are red-herrings and twists along the way, and a sprinkling of shocks - didn't see some of them coming!

First off, I went to thank NetGalley for sending me this ARC! I love thrillers and this was a good one!

I did not see the twists coming at first, I was about 80% done before I realized what was happening! It had me feeling a little like I did when I read Gone Girl, completely and utterly unsure of what the hell was going on, conflicted on who to believe, and determined to keep reading to find out!

I thought the multiple POVs were a little confusing at first but it all made sense once I kept going!

I hope to read more by Sarah, and I hope she writes another novel that stems from this one! I must know what happens after that last sentence!

When I was maybe 70-80% done with the book, before I even finished it, I went and bought it for my kindle. I will definitely be recommending this book to my fellow psychological thriller besties!

Also the Harry Potter references won me over immediately

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚
Every Little Secret By Sarah Clarke
📢Publication Date: 25th February 2022

Grace seems like she has the perfect happy life. She has her husband Marcus, her daughter Kaia, hiuse and a good job. Marcus and Grace have been together since they were 16.. at that time they hung out with Josh (Grace brother) and Coco (Grace best friend).
There is a secret though, that is going to absolutely change things forever if it gets out. Then Grace daughter starts to accuse her dad of hurting her ....... and that, is when things start to unravel!!

When you think ...., “oh I will just read one more chapter!” Then you know it’s a good un!!
Gripping and definitely keeps you guessing. I really like Sarah’s style of writing. Just when you think that it has a great twist .........but that ending ....: no!! Don’t end there!!!! 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

Every little secret was a book about keeping secrets to protect the people who you love and the consequences of keeping those secrets. I thought it was a pretty average thriller. I did like the character development but the twists were pretty predictable.

This was a fast unexpected ride. Lots of twists and turns and full of suspense. I was engaged right from the very start and the ending has me hoping for a sequel. Read this at lightning speak because it was that good.

Thank you Netgalley for this arc

Every little secret by Sarah Clarke is a thrilling domestic drama.
Grace has it all, a great job, a handsome husband Marcus, and a daughter, Kaia, she thought she may never have but her secrets are about to come out as her perfect life starts to fall apart.
Her 7 year old daughter accuses her father Marcus of injuring her on purpose, Grace dismisses this at first then Marcus starts behaving odd, who should she trust? Could she believe her husband would hurt Kaia on purpose? Why would Kaia lie?
A great dilemma Grace is in, a believable situation which any mother could find themselves in but what’s the right thing to do?
The plot thickens as Grace and Marcus’s past is unravelled, they met as teenagers when Marcus was friends with Grace’s brother Josh and as a foursome with Grace’s friend Coco spent a summer together. There are secrets hidden during this summer which we get little by little but does it change our opinion of the characters?
The plot moves quite slowly to start with and Grace leads the point of view with a lot of domestic storyline. But when she starts to look for Coco her friend to help her with the dilemma, the plot ramps up, we travel in multiple directions and the secrets begin to be told.
The characters are well described with the development of the teenage friends, to adults and how those aspects of their personalities enhance the plot.
Overall, I enjoyed this story, a little slow to start with but definitely worth it for the thrilling plot. A solid 4*.
Thanks to Netgalley and HQ DIGITAL for the ARC.

What an emotional roller coaster I've just been on. I've been angry, sad, happy and worried all at the same time.

Every Little Secret is a real slow burner and for me personally didn't really pick up speed until about 65%.

I personally preferred the second half of the book to the first half but I thought the book was really cleverly written.

Despite it being a bit a slow in the outset I was desperate to know more. I really admired Grace's character and her determination to help her daughter. That twist at the end was so clever and really was the perfect ending.

Wow, wow and WOW!!

Grace seems to have it all, a great career as a writer, a handsome husband, Marcus, who is an ex professional rugby player and a beautiful 7-year-old daughter, Kaia. However, when Kaia starts acting strangely and then makes a disturbing revelation Grace’s seemingly perfect life starts to crumble and she is faced with a big decision, does she believe and protect her daughter despite the risk of her biggest secret coming out? Or should she trust her husband of 14 years? You’ll have to read the book to find out!

Again WOW! I honestly can’t believe this is only the authors second book! After really enjoying her debut novel I was very keen to read her second and it did not disappoint at all. The story got going really quickly and that fast pace continued throughout the book. I have seen some reviews mention the story dragging but I didn’t feel this at all and thought the pace was just perfect. I also really liked the unreliable narrator as it really kept me guessing. I did figure out the twist before it happened but this, by no means, ruined the book for me. This is the first book in a long time that I was reading in tv show advert breaks because I just had to know what was happening and so therefore, I had no choice but to award it 5 stars!

Another stunner from Sarah Clarke and I wholeheartedly recommend it for any fans who love psychological thrillers, you won’t be disappointed!

Thank you to Netgalley, Sarah Clarke and HQ publishing for my advanced reading copy. Due out 25th February 2022.

Meet Grace, Marcus and their daughter, Kaia, aged seven. They are a tight, happy little unit until the day that Kaia falls from a tree then claims she was pushed... by Marcus. Will Grace believe her daughter or her husband?

Following A Mother Never Lies was going to be a tall order for Sarah Clarke as I adored that book! However, the author managed it admirably. Set in Earlsfield, London the storyline moves between 2019 and flashes back fourteen years to 2005, told mainly from Grace's viewpoint but intermingled are some sections from Marcus. Sarah Clarke portrays her characters and their inner turmoil masterfully. The timeline switches were seamless and I really wanted to keep turning the pages. The reveal was a surprise and overall I was extremely impressed with this stunning family-based thriller. I truly did not know what to think throughout due to the terrific ambiguity and thus, did not anticipate the grand finale.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from HQ Digital via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Fabulous fast paced novel, Grace’s young daughter is making accusations against her father. Who does she believe? What did go on all those years ago when they were teenagers with her brother and her best friend Coco?

Grace and Josh are brother and sister, Marcus and Coco are their friends. When they are adults Grace and Marcus are married with a daughter, Coco has disappeared from their lives and Josh is a psychologist working in America.
Kaia,

Every little secret by Sarah Clarke.
From the outside, it seems Grace has it all. Only she knows about the cracks in her picture-perfect life… and the huge secret behind them. After all, who can she trust?
Her brother Josh is thousands of miles away, and he and Grace have never been close – he was always their parents’ favourite. Her best friend Coco walked away from her years ago, their friendship irreparably fractured by the choices they’ve made. And her husband Marcus seems like a different man lately. Grace can’t shake the feeling that he’s hiding something. But when her seven-year-old daughter makes a troubling accusation, Grace must choose between protecting her child and protecting her secret… before she loses everything.
A brilliant read. Twisty and tense I loved it. I wasn't sure about the characters though. 5*

Looking from the outside Grace, Marcus and Kaia look like a perfect family. A happy couple with a bright little seven-year-old. But things can change quickly when everyone is keeping their own little secrets.

Kaia has an unfortunate accident and Grace and Marcus’s lives are turned upside down. Who do you believe when your daughter suddenly accuses your husband of abuse, do you believe her even when there have been no signs of abuse before, do you question your husband even if he denies it all?

It seems like such a clear cut decision, why would a seven-year-old lie about that? But life isn’t so black and white is it?

“Unconditional love, Grace. That’s what a mother owes her child. Unconditional love” – Every little secret, Sarah Clarke

Clarke does a great job at making the reader feel utterly conflicted, torn between so many characters and so many secrets the story just keeps getting more and more complicated, unfolding in every direction. With the story playing off in duel timelines the characters are developed with intimate details of their conflicting emotions and stories making the reader all the more intrigued.

Some of the characters, unfortunately, felt superficial and lacked authenticity, leaving the reader wanting more information to get fully immersed in the story. Even though the story is gripping it felt drawn out and somewhat dark. Some of the events described are disturbing and not for the faint-hearted.

“For all Grace’s strengths, her stubborn refusal to give up on a goal or wallow in self-pity if things don’t go her way, she can never keep up that warrior demeanour in front of her mum.” – Every little secret, Sarah Clarke

The twist however felt completely unexpected and made me feel like kicking myself for not figuring it out sooner. Some of the aspects of the story, especially the relationship between Grace and her mother felt a bit unrealistic, especially seeing how the book ends, but every story needs a little room to wiggle.

Clarke does leave the reader with a bit of a cliff-hanger at the end possible leaving the door open to a second book or up to the reader's imagination.

“He’s still out there somewhere, and who knows when he might reappear?” – Every little secret, Sarah Clarke

Overall a great psychological thriller with a twist worth waiting for.

As soon as I started reading this book I knew it was going to be one that pulled me right in. I really love these domestic drama type books and this one was no exception. A story told in duel timeline that was easy to follow with a great storyline. Highly recommend.

On the surface, Grace appears to have a great life, but all is not as it seems. When her seven-year-old daughter, Kaia, makes a series of serious allegations and her behaviour in school starts to give cause for concern, Grace does not know who or what to believe. With events from her past threatening to tear her family apart, just how far will she go to protect the people she loves the most?

Well, this is a story that really messed with my head! I love a story with an unreliable narrator and Sarah Clarke has taken this a step further in Every Little Secret. This is very much a character driven novel and I felt as though I developed a good understanding of Grace and her husband, Marcus, only for the rug to be pulled away from under me several times! My opinions of several of the characters constantly changed, to the point where I did not know who to believe!

The story is told in two main time frames – the present and when our main characters wee much younger. We soon discover that something has happened in the past that could potentially cause huge problems in the present and this story is gradually revealed as the book progresses. I found myself shocked on more than one occasion as we begin to realise that we don’t always truly know everything about those we love the most.

Every Little Secret is a very apt title as there are numerous secrets that people have kept hidden for many years, each one now impacting on the present. This twisty tale had me gripped from the start and the ending took my breath away.
