I found this graphic memoir wholly captivating. The art style was unlike any I've ever seen in a published book and the images had me flipping through these pages so quickly and then returning to focus in on the words and the story. This book is another testament to the power of the graphic medium and the validity of graphics and comics as forms of reading.

This was a really interesting premise. It's nice to see romances between 'older' folks. I appreciated that the people involved were very imperfect, making understandable and forgivable mistakes.

This book was so sad….the drawings were expressive and beautifully conveyed the emotions of falling in love and the subsequent breakup. It was not a happy read…..but it was certainly heartfelt and well done. This is the first ‘adult’ graphic novel I have ever read but it won’t be the last..

Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC.

Elise is in her mid fifties and is happily married to her husband. Then one night she meets Dagmar at a party and things escalate quickly. What starts as texting turns into something more and pretty soon Dagmar and Elise are in a complicated relationship. Dagmar is unwilling to leave her husband and thus, Elise is left unmoored and alone.

This graphic novel was very, very good. The artwork and color palette were fantastic and the color work really helped with the atmosphere of the book. I really enjoyed this and I hope to read more of the author's works.

This quiet and introspective story delves deep into the heart of an older woman who falls in love with another woman, and how love and loss can still hurt even when you thought your story was over. Beautiful, heartfelt, and unafraid.

This book is a good representation for the story of two women falling in love at an inconvenient time. Love is rarely convenient. When it happens, there's an opportunity to be open and accept it, or to remain closed and deny what is actually happening. Relationships can be complicated and when one lies to themselves about what they are feeling, it serves only to exacerbate the complications. Dagmar and Elise are married, to other people, when they meet. They both feel an immediate something. As the story unfolds and entwines, they both experience moments of sadness and frustration and fear and joy and happiness. Life is all of those feelings and more, this book needed to be written, needs to reach those who live a life similar.

So how many times have you read a graphic novel about two women in their fifties, having a passionate affair? Like me, probably zero times. That alone is worth the read.
I liked how the creator refused to shy away from the strong feelings that the women had for one another; especially lust (but it is not a "graphic" graphic novel). It seems that even the main character's friends found it difficult to believe she was experiencing such an affair.
This doesn't have a tidy wrap up and you may find yourself frustrated by the main character's disbelief that her actions had consequences, but it's an honest and true portrayal.
I liked the artwork as well, but I read it on my phone so I can't say too much about it.

I'm not gonna lie I wasn't the biggest fan of this one. Mainly with the main character being upset when her husband cheats on her even though that's what shes doing to him. While the feelings were realistic, it was frustrating to just go back and forth with the will they wont they.
