"You just forgot my name, didn't you?"
The first thing Bexley said to Greyson. The story follows Bexley as she goes through a season of The Suitor - a show similar to the Bachelor. The Suitor this season just so happens to be Greyson, a former pro baseball player. Bexley is unremarkably herself and doesn't pretend to be anything she's not, which most of the other contestants tend to be - fake.

Each chapter changes POV between Bexley and Greyson, so you get both of their perspectives. You get to see their thoughts and how they start to fall in love. You see both aspects of the dates, from Bexley's point of view and Greyson's. I thought it was great that you got to see that Bexley was jealous of the other contestants, but did her best not to show it. Where you'd see Greyson attempting to get to know these numerous women who will do anything for love and 5 minutes of fame.

Bexley was a well rounded character. She wasn't your typical damsel in distress. She was an independent woman who was intelligent, going to grad school, working as a mechanic, and was hopelessly awkward when it comes to love.

I didn't like how the ending came so fast and was so short. The build up of their relationship only to have the end lacking. It is a HEA, but it was too short for my liking. Otherwise, I completely recommend this book!

I’m conflicted about this one. I knew going in that my standards were going to be high, given that the last The Bachelor inspired book I read (The Charm Offensive) completely knocked it out of the park. Unfortunately, this didn't come close to that level.

The characters had some personality but still felt underdeveloped, and a lot of important story tidbits that should’ve been fleshed out more were brushed over really quickly. The two major conflicts between the main characters were painfully contrived and unconvincing, and their happily ever after was super rushed.

(Slight spoilers in next paragraph, so skip if you want to avoid!)

I really appreciated the author including a lesbian (I’m pretty sure), Indigenous character who comes back onto the show to try to find her missing sister, and highlight how Indigenous women go missing so often. That was something you don’t see brought up a lot, and I’m glad the author wanted to bring awareness to this important issue, but it was yet another plot point that got a page’s worth of attention and no real resolution.

The overall plot was wrapped up too quickly, and it’s a problem when even the two main characters don’t really have a properly resolved ending besides two sentences about a filmed proposal, let alone the side characters.

Overall I enjoyed the read, but I definitely think there were some issues big and small that puts it on the weaker end of the romance books I’ve read recently

Thank you Netgalley for the arc!

Thank you to @netgalley for this eARC in exchange of my honest review.

This is a story based loosely on the bachelor. Bexley is dared by her best friend to apply to a dating show in which 25 contestants compete to win The Suitor, Grayson Grant.

I thought I would enjoy this book a lot more than I did. It was definitely a cute read, but moved too slowly for me to really get into. I also felt the ending seemed incredibly rushed. There’s even a last, and forgotten, piece of potential conflict tossed in and resolved in a rush.

Overall, this one gets 2.5 (rounded to 3) ⭐️‘s from me.

If you are a fan of watching The Bachelor, then you will love this book. It seems to be loosely based on that show. I really enjoyed this book. There were several fun twists that kept me guessing. This was such a light, fun, entertaining book!

This book was okay. It was pretty cute, and it was an interesting concept, seeing the ins and outs of a The Bachelor type reality show. I just didn't find the writing very strong. I liked the story, and I finished the book quickly, but it wasn't 'amazing'. Do I still want to read the next one? Absolutely. Will I recommend this to my friends who love a good fluffy romance? Heck yeah.

Thanks very much to NetGalley and the publishers for a free ARC in exchange for a review!

My guilty pleasure is hate-watching the Bachelor so I knew this would be a fun ride for me.

And I was right, it is pretty cute and fluffy, but it also has a couple of things that really annoyed me.

The book has this habit of dropping random insane minor plotlines like a missing sister or an accident leading to memory issues. They're super insane occurances that are randomly dropped in the same way "I have a dog" would be in normal books. I realise this is a reality show based story but it felt really jarring and strange like the author was trying to set up a thousand and one sequels all at once.

Which is another thing, with the amount of info-dumping, I almost felt like I had been dropped into the middle of a series. Like the random explanation that someone met their significant other while blowing up a lab? What.

This is a fun book, but it has tons of annoying "pick me", "not like other girls" bits and pieces that are thrown in that almost ruin it for me. Grayson is pretty much the bare minimum of "yeah sure women should have rights" while also appreciating "taut tummies", talking about how "the flawless look isn't natural", and picturing threesomes with women who aren't the main love interest. It made me not really like him. Also he's described as wearing "cargo shorts and [a] Quints fishing shirt" so I was immediately turned off.

Bexley is also fun and interesting, but then she goes off about other women and how she doesn't join in on their "spa nights and day drinking" which I guess makes her cool and better? Sounds boring, Bex, you should have some fun.

Also the ending is incredibly abrupt. Literally it's action action action, boom end of the book. It's so quick you almost don't realise the book is over.

Saying all this, the book was fun, and Bexley and Grayson were cute. I don't think this is one getting a prize spot on my shelf, but I'm not mad that I read it.

Three and a half stars, rounded up to four for Goodreads.

4/5 Stars

I’ll say I’m not a fan of The Bachelor but that didn’t stop me from enjoying this book. It was cute and the prefect read to binge on a weekend.
I really enjoyed the writing style here and having a duel POV really helped sell the story for me.

Bexley and Grayson were really cute but I do wish there had been more interaction.

Overall this was a fun book, and a nice introduction to Holly Karr’s writing!

I really enjoyed this book. There are 2 POV’s which is always a positive in my book. The book was fast paced. There were parts that I was laughing at and other parts that I was angry with.

I honestly could have used a little more drama than this book gave. And the ending was VERY rushed.

Overall it was a fun read and I look forward to reading her other books in the series!

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book. If you are a romance fan and enjoy shows like the Bachelor and Bachelorette this is a book for you.

Bexley is dared by her friend to go on The Suitor, Canadas version of The Bachelor. There she meets and falls in love instantly with The Suitor, Grayson. The feeling is mutual but they must navigate through their feelings with other woman contestants involved. Will they power through?!

Overall I did like this book. There were some laugh out loud moments and a few twists and turns!

BOOK REVIEW | Falling For the Suitor by Holly Kerr

SYNOPSIS | Finding love on a reality show isn’t possible. It can’t be real. Or can it?

MY THOUGHTS | Muskoka setting and Star Wars date? Yes please! Falling For the Suitor is a cute romcom based on The Bachelor. A bit of a slow read (until the ending), but it has a good selection of characters for reality television, with a well written POV. Thank you to

Thank you to NetGalley and Three Birds Press for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

This was a cute book and one of the best things about it is that what you see is what you will get. There is something so comforting about reading a new book and knowing what beats are going to happen - even if you don't know how they are going to happen - so that it is a comfort read from the start. I enjoyed that it switched perspectives between the two leads, and it really showed character growth, even though it isn't an extremely deep/in-depth book. This is a really great book if you like all of the reality dating shows and want just a sweet, clean, romance book. 3.5/5

Falling for The Suitor is the first book in the Suitor Science Saga. If you are looking for a fresh, easy-readying, similar to The Bachelor show, this is your book.

Grayson Grant, former baseball player is the new Suitor. He is going to The Suitor show to find love between 25 amazing women. Bexley went to The Suitor to meet and win Grayson's heart because her friend dared her to and she has never rejected or missed a challenge. But what starts out as a game will end up turning into love.

Warning: SPOILERS below

I have given 4 stars to this book for various reasons, even though the ending has left a bittersweet taste in my mouth.

The connection that Bexley and especially Grayson feel with each other is palpable and can be seen from minute 1. I really liked her interactions, the scene in the forest (she faints), that each girl was different, that there was a former antagonist who will end up joining the protagonist... This book has kept me hooked on the ebook all day, really.

The only thing that hasn't convinced me is how quickly the ending unfolds; I think there should be a few more chapters.

I would also have appreciated more description in the sex scene because I don't hide I'm a big fan of smut in the books, but I know that depends on the style of the writer and there is no problem with it.

Warning: SPOILER about next book

And I have 1000% desire to read the next book about Rachel and Boen, an enemies to lovers and chemistry teacher? Please... I'm totally in.

This was a cute instalove story for fans of reality dating shows ala The Bachelor. The drama between the contestants and the heroine/hero’s back stories were the highlights of this story.

I would’ve liked to see more of what made our core couple fall for each other. Beyond their initial sparks upon meeting, and a couple of basic conversations, I wanted to see more blossom between the couple emotionally. With a story having this premise, it would’ve been nice to see them having to really learn to trust each other and build a connection with the backdrop of such a fantasy experience. By the end, Baxley and Grayson’s relationship came together in a cute way, leaning into that reality TV/fantasy element.

“Finally, I’m standing before The Suitor, as nervous as Cinderella at the ball. “Hi.” I take a deep breath and my smile widens. “Hi.” I completely blank on his name.”

Falling For The Suitor follows Bexley and Grayson on their journey to find true love on the hit Canadian reality show The Suitor. Grayson, an ex-baseball player is hoping his second go round in the reality franchise will lead to his forever love. Last time he left blind sighted and broken right before the proposal, this time he is putting in the work to find someone he tiredly connects with. Could that person be Bexley?

Bexley is anything but the perfect candidate for a reality dating show but since she never backs down from a date (something her best friend Fiona uses to her advantage) she finds herself smack bad in Ontario’s Muskoka cottage country stuck in a hotel with twenty-something other contestants vying for Grayson attention. I’d love what she really wants? Or is she looking to find herself too?

Who doesn’t love “The Bachelor” and it’s many franchises? It has been a while since a Canadian version has graced the screen. This book felt like watching the behind the scenes of the series and it was wonderful. From the downtime between dates to sneaking behind the producers back, and finding unlikely friendships along the way. On the screen it may look one way but getting to know all the drama is so much better.

Following along with the split perspectives was a great way to show how both Bexley and Grayson were experiencing the same thing but in their own ways. Bexley was undoubtedly my favourite character in the whole book. I loved how authentic she was. From her job as an electrician, to being in school getting her master, and it helps that she was there for the right reasons (which is not to self promote a budding influencer career). She was fully herself and it was refreshing to read. Even the points where she was in a compromising position the reader was never left with secondhand embarrassment or too much guilt. She handled her problems in an adult way.

Grayson was a little bit of a show off. Since “The Bachelor” is obviously the main inspiration for this book, to me he felt like a mix between Ben Higgins and Colton Underwood. Ben was my favourite bachelor. I really hoped his relationship would have lasted. He seems to have the right intentions much like Grayson. As for Colton, he knew what he wanted pretty much right from the start, again not unlike Grayson. Both the real life inspirations and the character made the whole book feel authentic as if the The Suitor were a real show and this was the unauthorized biography.

The coloured roses were my favourite unexpected surprise. I did not know how the book was going to handle sending the contestants home but the colouring system was genius. Especially when you know that a yellow rose means friendship and that no romance was felt for that person.

The dialogue moved effortlessly even with all the time jumps added to the story. When Bexley and Grayson were together it was easy to forget that those conversations were being filmed. Good thing Holly Kerr gently reminds the reader every now and then without it being too forced.

The narrative was something I was not expecting. This is a cup of coffee, rainy afternoon, one sitting type of book. It keeps you entertained the entire time and you dread the moment your eyes leave the page.

The two things I wished were included in the book that were only lightly touched on are the proposal and their future together. We get to see Grayson get down on one knee but the hopeless romantic in me wanted the final rose moment. To read what their epic proposal for the cameras would have been. I wanted to know what they were wearing, if their families were there, if their friends were there. And the other is what comes next for them? Bexley has a moment of questioning if she would move in with him or if he would relocate to her. It would have been great to see them have an intimate moment alone after the prodigal or the promised prodigal at the side of the highway where they talk about it.

Spice: it was definitely mentioned but not shown. Not that the kissing wasn’t enough, but in that sort of genre (reality dating show) more is left to the imagination or designed to appear as that by way of the production team.

Tropes: dating show, reality television, celebrity love interest, cat fights

Falling for the suitor is a cute, romantic story which is somewhat bases on "The Bachelor". Now this book was good but I have read so many books like thess that I've simply lost interest. But if you are a big fan of this "trope" then you might like this book.

This book is about a woman who don't think that she's been the type of person who competes in a reality dating show but then she meets our male lead Grayson who's (obviously) "The Suitor", the one who's going to date 25 women for the show, and well you know what's going to happen. It's told from a Dual POV which I liked since I find dual pov books to be more easy to read (most of the time). But beware- this book is slowly paced. I'm not a big fan of slow paced books. The ending was rushed too. It could have been a great book but since I'm not really interested in the specific trope this belongs into I would rate it 2.5 stars.

Thanks a lot to Netgalley for providing me with an e-arc of this book.

Requested this book because I got The Bachelore vibes and was so happy to know I was gifted with an early copy! I loved this book so much. The characters. The setting. One of my favorite reads this year so far!

Book about a show that's basically The Bachelor? Sign me up. Told in alternating POVs from the Suitor and one of the girls competing for his affection, we go through the full process from day one to ending of a season of the show. The thing is... it's just fine. I think SO MUCH MORE could've been done with the characters, the setup was there, but it just wasn't expanded upon. And the ending is just flat. Like it just happens and then the book ends, no epilogue, just over and goodbye.

The title does say Suitor Science #1, so maybe we'll get more of the story? Further story could rectify a lot of what I'm bummed about. Overall, cute, but probably a library checkout rather than a buy.

More comments behind a spoiler tag: Where is the rest of Chrissa's story? We hear she's (presumably) gay, and then nothing? I felt like she was made into a pretty big piece of the story to just get nothing further from her. And then that ending? I was so annoyed! I feel like IRL it's a pretty known piece of the story that couples from these shows experience a LOT when they leave the show. Trying to get through the airing of the show and meshing their real lives is a big piece of the story, and the setup was there with both of their siblings already being featured. It just seemed like it would've been easy to give more story there.

3/5 for Falling for the Suitor

This book was genuinely so CUTE. Not too much drama, but enough to spice things up was one of the main reasons I really liked this. Bex is smart, strong and just awkward enough to make me laugh. Greyson was honestly way more respectful than any real-life man on a reality dating show. Don't get me started on those men!

The only thing that I didn't particularly enjoy was the writing. If felt a little drab, with no variation in vocabulary/language. This is being nit-picky of course, but that's just my own personal opinions.
