Warning: Spoilers below

Ellie Ichimura writes in her secret twitter account her love fantasies about the most popular guy in her school (Ohmi) because she has no love story in her real life. She is in love (a bit obsessed in my opinion) with Ohmi and when she gets to know the guy she discovered he has two personalities: the prince he shows to everybody in the school that had every girl sighting and, in the other hand, she discovered that he is arrogant and don't care about the other girls. Ellie wants to know the real Ohmi in spite he is acting like a jerk.

I haven't felt empathy for the characters. I think the idea of the secret twitter account is good and could work but it was hidden behind the attitudes and red flags of the protagonists. I felt that I can¡t understand them well, like everything is unrealistic.

Lovesick Ellie is one of my most anticipated new print releases. This series makes me smile and laugh. It's a high school rom-com about Ellie who is equal parts awkward, adorable, romance obsessed, and corny. She likes to write tweets fantasizing about being in a relationship with the boy she likes, Ohmi-kun.

After witnessing Ohmi's "true self" mouthing off to her homeroom teacher, Ohmi-kun finds out Ellie's own secret when she deserts her phone in a teacher's office. He recognizes himself in her tweets, but offers to keep her secret if she won't mention he's not the white knight everyone thinks he is.

And from there Ellie and Ohmi begin to get to know each other over a series of encounters that lead them to grow closer!

It's easy for me to love all the main characters, flaws and all. Though I don't know if I have the kind of tough hide required to deal with an angsty boy like Ohmi watching Ellie do so is a treat. Ellie's friend Sara-chan is a hoot and I cannot wait for more of her.

I've been hoping for physical prints of this series for several years, and I'm very excited to collect and read my own copies.

If you like a good romantic comedy with a clumsy, dorky character and a character with a tough-outer-shell-and-soft-center you'll probably enjoy this!

Much thanks to Kodansha and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of Lovesick Ellie, Vol 1 for my honest opinion.

This manga was a fresh take on a typical high school shojo story. Ichimura is a plain girl who is overlooked by pretty much everyone in school. She has a crush the school's most popular boy Ohmi and secretly fantasizes about him on Twitter. She randomly finds out that his princely charm is fake and that he actually has a bad attitude. The rest of the novel is about their budding romance and character growth. I very much enjoyed the story and I'm looking forward to reading the next one.

This is a very interesting story and it definitely surprised me with the dirty jokes and some of the things Ellie did. Her Twitter is so entertaining and I loved reading those bits. I think her relationship with Omi-kun is very random thought. He definitely has a lot of problems expressing his true feelings and the way he acts towards Ellie is very mean at times. However, he kind of reminded me of my bf who enjoys messing with me endlessly 😅 I found Omi-kun’s behaviour a bit problematic at times because of how he acts when he doesn’t tell his true feelings, but overall you still kind of root for him to break down his walls. The plot of this story is also very random and feels like it’s all over the place although it does follow a timeline. I guess it just feels very chaotic when you read it. Either way, I want to keep reading future volumes because it is a very entertaining manga.

3.5/5

Lovesick Ellie 1 by Fujimomo is a charming and silly shoujo manga about a high school girl who has wild romantic fantasies and the cantankerous boy that she falls for. The art was great, the story went down smoothly and easily. I was a little hesitant about the content, but so far it's pretty clean. Will have to see what volume two holds!

Eriko tweets about her fantasy relationship with a popular boy in her school (Akira). However, after ease dropping on him and a teacher she discovers his personality is not exactly what she expected. Even after finding out his personality, she continues her pervy tweets.

There are a lot of funny moments especially with Eriko's tweets. They both have a hard time getting across how they feel/what they really want to say but it eventually works out somehow.I'm sure we will find out why Akira has a "sparkle mode" further in the series and see more of their awkwardness. Eriko also makes a friend (Sara) which is a fun friendship to see start especially how Sara decided she wanted to be friends.
I really enjoyed reading this one and will continue reading this series.

I will agree as it says in the description if you're a fan of Horimiya, kiss him not me, and wotakoi you'll probably enjoy this one too (at least from volume 1 so far).

Lovesick Ellie is a joy to read.

Eriko Ichimura is a teenage girl who writes heavily fantasized tweets on twitter about her anonymous crush. Her crush, Ohmi, is the golden boy at school. However, he turns out to be a little different from what he appears.

These two contrasting personalities are a delight. It contains a lot of classic shoujo tropes - the new friend, the festival, the mysterious JHS past - but the characterization of both Eriko and Ohmi brings a fresh feel to them.

As for the artwork? It's nicely drawn. Easy to read. No hiccups at all.

I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys shoujo or slice of life. This is a fun manga! I couldn't stop smiling.

I loved this manga and am looking into volume 2 now. It’s so sweet and incredibly awkward. I smiled throughout the entire read. Highly recommended!

So cute and fun. It was exactly the kind of manga I was in the mood for! I’m somewhat new to reading manga but I’ve slowly become addicted. This was such a fun read. I laughed. I loved the romance. It was just overall very enjoyable.

I saw Horimiya and kiss him, not me! In summary, I knew I had to read this. It started off confusing but as you read it gets better. Eriko, our MC, has a Twitter account where she posts tweets fantasizing about her life with the school’s popular guy. Ohmi Kun is a social butterfly who is kind and gentle with everyone but one person and that would be Eriko. With her, he is absolutely a different person- a true version of him and this only makes her fall for him even more. The story follows these two adorable characters as they grow into the best version of themselves as they step into adulthood.

Reading this made me miss my high school life. It’s been a while since I read manga and this gem made me want to start reading them again. This was an endearing, cute and humorous read. It’s surprising how I didn’t find this manga soon considering I spent half of my time on shoujo content. I can’t wait to read volume 2. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is reading this reminded me of any other shoujo manga.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

This is one of my favorite new shoujo series! It follows high school student Ellie who has a Twitter account dedicated to her own fantasies based on the most popular boy in school - who ends up discovering her Twitter. What I love best about this series is how modern it is and Ellie is one of the most relatable main characters I've ever read in a shoujo. I recommend this to everyone and definitely purchased a copy for my library and my own personal copy!

This book is about Eriko a high schooler who spends most of her time tweeting about her fantasy relationship with the handsome boy at her school. But when she finally gets to know him, he is nothing like her fantasy, what's worse is that he finds out all about her perverted tweets.

I thought this was a very funny and cute read with really enjoyable characters. I enjoyed Akira he was charming but also hilariously two-faced. Eriko was so funny, her tweets cracked me up. But the friendship between Eriko and Sara, was my fave, such weirdos.

This was an average rom-com high school story but with a more modern take. I enjoy reading mangas where the girls aren't uwu innocent. I think I would have enjoyed this more when I was younger, but totally recommend this to those who love the grumpy guy x sunshine girl trope.

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for an e-copy of Lovesick Ellie in exchange for an honest review.

LoveSick Ellie follows high school student Eriko Ichimura, known on twitter as Ellie, as she balances her real life as an outsider at school and her online persona that’s sought after and dating the most popular guy in school.

On twitter Ellie spins lustful fantasies including herself and her fellow classmate Ohmi while watching from the sidelines in real life, too timid and awkward to approach him. But one day Ellie sees Ohmi’s true colours; the sweet and popular boy she thought he was is actually a huge jerk! Through an awkward encounter and a lost phone Ohmi finds out Ellie’s secret and he’s hell bent on holding it over her head.

Lovesick Ellie is a unique, hilarious and relatable story of realizing that you don’t know everyone like you thought you did and how maybe that’s for the better.

Follow along as Ellie grows and learns just what it means to live outside of her fantasy world and in turn opens a chapter in her life not even she could’ve written.

4/5 stars

This manga follows two students, one who has a twitter where she writes mini romance fanfics between her and the popular boy in her school, and the boy himself.

I really liked how these two are multidimensional and they have cute moments where their romance still feels young and pure. The art style of this one was so soft and delicate. It's a cute and fun story to read!

I honestly don’t know if I liked it or not, it’s definitely not a normal romance manga. We have a perverted protagonist who is obsessed with the male lead who is really two faced.
Apparently there are 12 volumes? I will continue reading for sure but I don’t know how much will it take for the couple…

*Received an arc for a fair and honest review*, To be honest, I haven't read a manga in such a long time. I really had forgotten how they typically flow and how to even read them when I first started reading this manga. However, it felt just like riding a bike :) Once I was able to get into the flow of things, the story really took off for me! I thought this was such a cute little graphic novel mainly focused probably more towards a middle-grade audience rather than a young adult audience, in my opinion. It was a super cute, fun read that flew by in no time! It's only 180 pages and it felt like it went by so quickly. I will say that even though it was only 180 pages and it was such a quick light read, the backstory for this series was really set up and you really got an in-depth background and story of what's to come in the future. I can't wait to read the next one :)

Oh my gosh, this was STUPID cute. This is definitely a new must-read shojo manga series for me. This story follows Eriko, a high school nobody who spends her time posting fantasy thirst tweets about her crush popular boy Omi-kun. One day after the two run into each other, Eriko gets a glimpse at the darker side to perfect Omi-kun that he doesn’t show the public. At the same time, Omi-kun finds out about Eriko’s “Lovesick Ellie” Twitter person. Honestly, this tagline is really what sold me on this series: “Follow a perverted girl, a two-faced boy, and their curious romance!”.

This was SUCH a breath of fresh air, I haven’t read a shojo series like this in quite some time. It was hilarious, sweet, awkward, aggravating, and just so darn CUTE. Eriko is probably one of the most relatable shojo characters I’ve read. I laughed (and cringed) so hard at the awkward situations Eriko would get herself into. Omi-kun is such a grump and I loved the way he slowly started opening up to and falling for Eriko. It was hard to see Eriko questioning how or why someone like Omi-kun could be interested in someone like her. Overall, I thought this was a super fun first volume and I can’t wait to continue on with the series!

Lovesick Ellie is a funny manga with romance mentioned as much as you will be laughing at the main character’s antics. The characters that star as the main cast, I found to be likable, and have there own traits that make them fun to read about what’s currently happening in the manga. Overall I found this manga a great start to a humorous series, that I’m excited to see what happens next. ( Thank you to NetGalley, and the Publisher)
