Another great book from Sarah which involves the ex-wife of a famous chef Joanna Whitmore and how her life has been ruined by her domineering ex, and realising the damage that the media created for her , she shows great compassion when she finds there was a pregnant girl in the crashed car when her husband was killed. How Ashley Blake ends up living with Joanna and meeting the cast of great characters who live in the town that Joanna left many years before is beautifully crafted. The Beach House of the title is situated at Silver Point and is an architectiral dream created by Joanna after she inherited her grandfather's ruined house from her father. The house becomes the refuge for both women and then they are able to strip away their barriers and become best friends - all beautifully described. Joanna has been carrying a series of hurtful memories from her past and how by reconnecting with her friends Nate,Mel and Greg, she is able to resolve the hurt and have a future. Likewise Ashley gains confidence to plan her future with her baby. With all the twists and turns of the story the reader is carried on to the conclusion with a large dose of romance included. A great novel!

This was such a sweet read, I love Sarah’s books so it wasn’t hard to enjoy this one. Set in California present day it deals with marriage, pregnancy and heartache. A pleasure to read. What a perfect read, especially after the heatwave when the weather had cooled a touch in the UK and I felt like reading again. This was a delightful novel with a stunning California location, interesting characters and a plot I got happily lost in. This book held my attention from the first page until the last one and I didn’t want to put it down.
I was actually a little sad that this book ended and this is very rare. It deserves all of its 5 stars and more for being so delightful, heartwarming and sunny. I liked the character development, the strength of the leading lady character and the second chance romance aspect. I definitely recommend this novel as a great holiday read!

Beach House Summer by Sarah Morgan

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and HQ and I am leaving this review voluntarily

When Joanna Whitman's famous ex-husband dies in a car accident, she doesn't know what to feel. Their dysfunctional marriage held more painful secrets than she cares to remember. But when she discovers that the young woman with him in the crash is pregnant, Joanna feels compelled to act, knowing exactly how brutal the media spotlight will be on celebrity chef Cliff Whitman's ex-wife and his mysterious female friend.

Ashley Blake can't believe it when Joanna shows up in her hospital room and suggests they hide away at her beach house on a sleepy stretch of California coast. Joanna should be hating her, not helping her. But alone and pregnant, Ashley can't turn down Joanna's offer. Yet she knows that if Joanna ever found out the real reason Ashley was in that car, their tentative bond would shatter instantly.

I started reading this book and at first I thought that this was going to be a book I would struggle with - thankfully this wasn't the case. When I reached the end of this book I was sad to leave Joanna and Ashley and I would really enjoy a sequel about the pair. A crazy rollercoaster ride that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Rating 4/5

I love Sarah Morgan and The Beach House Summer is another firm favourite and the perfect summer read.

Joanna's ex husband celebrity chef, Cliff, has just been killed in a car accident. After years of affairs and being taken for granted, she doesn't feel much emotion about his death. But the girl who was in the car is something that concerns her.

Fleeing the paparazzi, Joanne takes Ashley to her remote beach side home in Silver Point, the place she grew up. Here she plans to hide from the world, but Ashley helps her see it's time to stop hiding and start living. Reconnecting with the friends from her past makes her feel loved and protected, and she even finds herself wanting to open her heart again.

I loved everything about this story, the characters were wonderful, the story was charming and I definitely want to read more about Joanna and Ashley, so I hope their story continues.

A really wonderful read (as if I expected anything less from Sarah Morgan) about family and friends and having a place to call home. I loved the characters and interactions between them.

Firstly, I must praise the cover designer of this book, it is beautifully vibrant and caught my eye immediately. The beach and coastal scenery are vividly described by this author, offering the reader a massive heap of escapism, and the visionary writing sold this location to me like a travel brochure.

The plot is full of twists and turns, making this an entertaining and enjoyable read, drawing me in from the very beginning. This is a romantic read, but rather than focusing on lovers, this is based on the power of friendships and loyalty. There are various stories entwined into one, as each character’s old and new friendships are explored, along with forgiveness, second chances and redemption. This makes an emotional journey for these leading ladies and the reader alike, without being heavy or draining.

The storyline flows well and is easy to follow, resulting in a heart-warming and uplifting summer read. A highly recommended read for fans of this genre and author.

It's true to say that I am a huge Sarah Morgan fan and so I jumped at the chance to read this years summer story and boy was I not disappointed in the slightest. Morgan has done it again! What a book.....what a story! It simply had it all, drama, intrigue, emotion, adventure, heartache, love, you name it, it was there.
I mean this plot pushed you in at the deep end from the opening chords and I didn't come up for air until the closing credits....not that I minded in the slightest as I was living for each and every moment.

Character creation is always a stand out victory in every story that Morgan composes and we can definitely include this new cast of characters into that category. They burst off the page with vivid clarity, making them feel real and relatable to me, as the reader, and I was honoured to share their powerful journey with them. Joanna was certainly someone you definitely won't forget in a hurry with a backstory worthy of any daytime soap opera, my heart went out to her many times and I admired her bravery and bold choices that she made in the face of adversity. She shared the spotlight with an incredible ensemble of people who weaved their emotive tales around her to perfection to create a stellar story that will stay with me for sure.

This book is so much more than you're everyday beach read.....beneath the sweet and unassuming cover lies a story steeped in emotion. So hold onto your hats and dive in, it's going to be a bumpy ride, but I can guarantee that you will not regret it. Sarah you still remain one of my favourite authors, so bring on the next book....I shall be sat here waiting patiently.

Beach House Summer by Sarah Morgan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When Joanna’s celebrity chef ex husband suddenly dies in a car crash all eyes turn to her and so she escapes to her idyllic hometown on the coast of California, taking with her the pregnant 18 year old girl who was also found in the crash.

I read this on holiday and you couldn’t find a better pool side book, just loved the characters in this brilliantly written romance and would very happily up sticks and move to the sleepy surf town of Silver Point (yes I did google it but unfortunately doesn’t actually exist!)

I was gripped from the first page!

I can sometimes get confused when reading a story with multiple points of view, but Ashley, Joanna and Melanie’s personalities are so distinct.

Joanna is old enough to be Ashley’s mother and the fact that they were both young when they lost their own mother’s, this is not what brings them together, an unlikely alliance that sends Joanne back to her childhood home.

I adored this year’s summer read from Sarah Morgan; an absolute must beach read for 2022

My thanks, as always, to the author, #Netgalley and @HQStories for allowing me to read and review #BeachHouseSummer, it’s 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from me.

Unfortunately as much as I love reading Sarah's books I just couldn't get into this book and sadly I couldn't finish it.

This book was not for me, unfortunately. I found it to be slow and predictable, with nothing much happening by the time I got to 23%- which is where I put it down.
Too much repetition, endless descriptions, and so much internal musing from all the characters slowed the narrative right down. I couldn’t warm to any of the characters, there was no depth to them. A DNF for me.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this book.

A lovely second chance romance with an element of found family.
A cosy easy reading book especially fitting for a holiday read.
Definitely one to pack for a getaway even if it’s only the garden.

I genuinely can’t think of a more heart-warming slice of escapism than this delightful book! Beach House Summer is just the perfect read for warm sunny days in the garden or on the beach. It is a story of friendship first and foremost and I adored the relationship between Joanna and Ashley - it will lift your heart. I loved the sound of Silver Point, the perfect small American beach town. All the cast of characters that live there were wonderful, particularly Nate, Mel and Greg. One of my favourite things was that Joanna adored books and there are lots of references to cosy reading corners and bookshops that will have book lovers smiling to themselves! This book is full of heart and I feel so contented having read it… definitely a warm glow kind of a book! I think it might be my first Sarah Morgan so I need to address that asap!

I normally enjoy Sarah Morgan’s books but I just couldn’t get into this, sorry.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me an arc of this book in exchange for my review.

Ashley is involved in an accident killing famous chef but what was she doing in his car. His ex wife soon finds herself caught up in the young girl's plight wanting to save her from the press intrusion. They end up back in her home town and maybe this move would be good for both of them. Can they each find their new path in life?

I do love a Sarah Morgan book having read her festive ones so was looking forward to this. It didn't disappoint either. The plot was sweet, touching and romantic. I loved the bond that builds between Ashley and Joanna. The ending was fairly expected and yet I loved how it came together. Although the romance is important in this. its Joanna's strength and growth that really shines. A fun, summer read. Perfect for the beach.

God I love Sarah Morgan. Her books are like a warm hug that you can’t put down. If butter was a book it would be this one. Lost love, lost friendships, new friendships and redemption are all beautifully woven into Joanna, Ashley and Mel’s storyline as they find a way to deal with the death of Cliff Whitman.

Thank you to HQ for the ARC.
