A perfectly good book, but unfortunately this one was not for me. I loved, LOVED the first Part of this book. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and back stories. I loved the writing style abs the description used throughout. I was so intrigued to see where the plot was going. And then Part 2 happened and I just couldn’t get on board with the Plot choices. Redeemed during the third Part but I just…. No. That’s not what I wanted for these characters. This is totally personal opinion, and the book was written beautifully; it just wasn’t for me.

This book is a slow-moving romance with low stakes. It had some humor, but not enough (at least not for me). It wasn’t a bad story, and the writing was good, but for some reason it was hard for me to read this book and love it and want to read more. I guess it is different from what I usually read.

I think anyone who enjoyed and loved “One Day in December” by Josie Silver might enjoy this book too.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster as much as fun. One moment I was crying and then again I was smiling and being silly.
I haven't read any book of this author but definitely willing to try her other works as I love how much effort she put into the characters , their development .

One Night With You was so much more than a romance novel (though this is definitely more women's fiction). If you are looking for beautifully written, heartfelt, and incredibly charming and romantic; then this is the book for you.

My pet peeve with most books like this is lack of character development/interesting character growth; I didn't have this problem with One Night With You. Laura Jane Williams does this PERFECTLY. I loved the plot, I loved the characters, and the description of the book translated perfectly onto the page; as a reader, what more could you ask for?

I really enjoyed this book. It was a light, happy read. Ruby and Nic meet one night right before she’s leaving for London. They spend one night together, and are left with many what-if scenarios after they part ways. The characters were very likable and enjoyable. I found myself laughing and smiling a lot through this story. Some very heavy plot twists as well which always keeps my interest. A solid book overall, I would definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed this book. It was beautifully written, and had a very unique and interesting storyline. I loved learning about everyone's story: Ruby, Nic, and JP.

The plot was very interesting. Nic meets Ruby the day before she is going to move. They have one night together. Essentially, every time Nic and Ruby's paths crossed, they really only have one night together (except for once, but that's a different story that I'm not going to reveal). Along the way, there are so many different things that prevent them from being together; however, this story is more about how someone can change your life. How you can wake up happy, even though you aren't with the person who you love because you are choosing to do what's best for you. It's about standing up for what you believe in and believing in yourself to make the right decision for you.

I loved all the characters! It was so much fun to see how they grew and developed as the story progressed; how one person can affect the lives other people. I loved JP! He was funny and charming. I loved how he just called it like it was. Saying he was old (he was like 97) and that he wasn't getting any younger and probably going to die soon. He was always happy, even when he was sad, and making the most out of his situation.

One of the most refreshing things about reading this book was that there were so many unpredictable things that happened. I felt like I knew where the book was going, but then something would happen that I wasn't expecting at all. And this happened multiple times throughout the story. It was just so nice to be able to get to a part and be completely shocked about what happened.

The only thing I really didn't like, but it wasn't that big of a deal, was the text messages between Ruby and Nic. They always wrote in poem form, which I found kind of odd to do in a text. I mean it would seem like it would take some serious time to make a poem every time they texted each other. I also thought that after Ruby and Nic's first night together, Ruby didn't seem to think of Nic that much. Maybe it was just my point of view, but it seemed like Nic was more interested and Ruby didn't give Nic a second thought (at least at first).

You know how in certain books, the author goes into detail about every little thing and describes every detail of a conversation and how things look around the characters? Yeah, I don't usually like reading that. I was so glad that this book was not like that AT ALL. I mean The author would skim over certain aspects to get to the point of the story, which I really enjoyed and appreciated. Even if sometimes you felt like something the character thought about or said wasn't really important, it actually became more important later on in the story. It was just nice that every word seemed to have a purpose and didn't just describe in detail how something looked that wasn't even important.

The main and only reason why I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 is because I just kept finding excuses on why I wasn't going to read it. I would go on social media, or look through pictures, or something else. I just felt like I was actively seeking something else to do rather than reading this book. That's not to say that I didn't love the story, because I did. I think it had more to do with the fact that the last book I read wasn't good, so I wasn't really in the mood to move on to another book quite yet. However, I also feel like if I truly 100% loved this book, I would have been so immersed in the story that I would have been solely focusing on reading it.

This is my first Laura book and definitely not my last! This is a story about life, fate, chances and love! Right person wrong time vibes! I loved it a lot and highly recommend.

Ruby and Nic have a chance encounter just as he is arriving in London and she is leaving. The result is lots of angst and what-ifs.

This book had a lot going on, with several dramatic subplots and big events. It was a little busy for me, but I really liked both Ruby and Nic, and loved seeing their relationship develop. In true 2020's fashion, much of their interaction was via text, which they inexplicably shared in rhyming verse. A little sweet, a little steamy, a little sad, and several twists. Solid book overall.

I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book and I enjoyed it but didn't love it as much as I thought I would. It took me a little bit to get into the story but I loved all the characters! They are definitely a memorable bunch.

When reading the synopsis for this book, captivated me.
Two strangers, meeting on their last and first night in London? Have a connection so strong?
The romantic in me was intrigued and I couldn't wait to read it.
Sadly the story failed to capture me further.
I found Ruby and Nic's relationship was very flat, and that everything they experienced was talked about more than it was actually shown.
Both were pining and unsure of their feelings because of the distance between them and it didn't really keep their relationship at the forefront of the story.
I'm all for Ruby doing her own growth and self-care, but I felt her be selfish. She was more worried about herself through all of the situations she and her group of friends went through instead of being concerned with her friends.
I had hoped the story would pick up and get me interested, but it sadly didn't, especially with the 4 years later for the ending.
It felt like no one got any closure and the ending was rushed. After not seeing someone for 4 years, how do you simply admit you love each other and that be okay? How does one forget the obstacles that kept you apart?
I felt that it wasn't relatable or that it would happen like this in real life. It made me sad because I wanted to enjoy this book more than i did.

One Night With You is a cute read in the beginning and throughout but it winds up having “deeper” side stories all throughout. This book shares mixed POV’s that alternate every chapter. The main characters, Nic and Ruby, meet in the beginning of the book but go their separate ways and come back together multiple times. The book does a good job of sharing details about each characters life as they live it.

It was a little slow in the beginning and somewhat predictable, with the exception of a couple slight plot twists, but I don’t regret reading it! I enjoyed the story as a whole, although I felt that it was lacking depth. There were so many things going on that it wasn’t able to really hone in on one particular “deep” subject although there were many scattered throughout the book.

This book is great for you if you enjoy right person, wrong time tropes; mixed POV’s; UK novels; and romances that are a bit different from the norm.

This book was sent to me for review by Netgalley. It is a light romance...curl up under a warm blanket, have a favorite tea, and enjoy an afternoon reading this book. The author has woven a story of romance and warmth. A quick fun read. Enjoy.

Whilst the synopsis wasn't exactly misleading, I do feel that this was a book that was much more than just the one-night stand that brought Nic and Ruby together. But that doesn't mean this book was all that enjoyable for me. I felt a lot of this novel was wildly over-dialogued and unnecessary. It was also all over the place and hard to follow at times and I struggled to hold an interest in what was going on.

I would definitely class this more as a women's lit read than a romance. Whilst Nic and Ruby's feelings are approached back and forth throughout this novel, I found it was more about them as people becoming who they wanted and needed to be and a lot of ill-timed happenstances that seemed to get more dramatic as time went on. I didn't find either main character relatable or interesting enough to root for them to get together, and a lot of their relationship felt unconvincing to me. Frankly, neither felt realistic to me, and I especially found Ruby rather selfish and indecisive.

I did like the friendships they made along the way, and my favourite part about this book was the side storyline about JP searching for his lost love. JP was a wonderful character, and I enjoyed his moments a fair deal.

Sadly, given this book was meant to be about two people connecting one fateful evening and seeing whether they would become something more than that, it felt like quite the let down given most of the book wasn't completely focused on that. The ending was also very sudden with the 4 year time jump that cheapened the conclusion for me with a whole lot of telling rather than showing.

Since I tend to read more romance than women's lit, this just didn't hit the mark for me at all.

We all have our own timeline and sometimes it doesn’t align with someone else’s.
But when you find the one … things get tricky. Especially when that one is coming in right when you’re getting out!!!
I really liked this story and I deeply appreciated how the author faced so many different themes about life, while also trying to design the love relationship between two great characters.
Fate and time can be a cruel thing when they’re messing up with our lives.
But sometimes the taking the chance is worth the risk !!!!
The writing style made the book easy to read and the attraction and the dialogues between Nic and Ruby were great !!!
I loved the fact that second chances were given when the time was right, and denied when it felt like it.
It was a fluffy romance. Not dark, not too spicy but definitely good, pictured in the beautiful background of English cities!
And the greatest thing of all was the amount of respect these two shared throughout all their journey !!!
Check this book out if you haven’t already!!!! And read this when it’ll be out !!!

One Night With You follows the journey of Ruby and Nic and what happens after they share a night together. I was really hoping for a light contemporary romance. But this book is not light and I wouldn’t really call it a romance either. This book focuses more on Ruby and Nic while they are apart, but very little romance actually occurs throughout the book. During the time that we focus on Ruby and Nic as individuals, there really isn’t any character growth either. No matter how much time has passed, I never connected with Ruby and honestly she comes across extremely selfish.

In my opinion, this book tried too hard to be too many different things and as a result, they weren’t able to really execute anything very well.

Let me start with the fact that someone had to die in this to make it interesting. The story was messy, as the book proceeds the story loses focus from the core plot. It gets mixed up with other storylines and tropes.

Ruby is self conceited character, which I could not relate to. Plus her gang constantly tries to scam people. Red flag!! Could not sympathize. I did not warm up to her throughout the book. Nic is a and good hearted fellow. His character had so much potential. I would have liked to see momentary flaws but he's too perfect. Plus that whole horny at first sight, didn't resonate with me. Although, the connection between the two is alright, but it comes off as superficial. The dialogue exchanges between them is gag-worthy; it's fake and completely unrealistic. I could not help but cringe.. Ever thought of eating a whole jar of honey in one bite? Yeah, it's like that.

The author tries to make the story emotional towards the second half of the book, which was a decent read compared to the first half. But I could not invest myself into it by then. The ending was alright but predictable. The writing holds a lot of potential, if the dialogues get better. There is some good humor in this at times, I won't deny that which does nothing for the book as a whole (for me). There are some genuine cute moments as well, when the characters actually talk realistically, which was very rare to see in this book.

Overall, it was a let down, and I did try hard to like this but it is what it is. If you want an overly sweet story with no thinking involved, this is for you.

This story was so hard to follow. It was extremely hard to decipher exactly WHAT was supposed to be the main focus as there were so many different storylines fighting for attention. There were several good things in the story, like the MCs relationship with one another, but they just didn’t make sense as a whole with the way the story is written.

A light, feel good romance all about timing and missed opportunities. It took me a while to warm to the characters but once I did, I found this quite charming. By the end I was really rooting for them, despite all of the messiness. Also a rare one where there's no big arguement or massive miscommunication, just two people trying to find their way to each other but life intervenes. Nothing unexpected here but very sweet.

One Night With You is a charming take on a second-chance romance. The book mainly centers around Ruby and Nic’s love story but there are several other relationships in the plot: romantic and friendships. The author throws in a few great twists too. She shows that love isn’t always sunshine and conflict isn’t always quickly resolved. I really enjoyed the maturity of this plot. The book is broken up into 3 parts and I do wish the 3rd part was a little longer.

This is the first book that I have read from Laura Jane Williams but I plan to add more of her novels to my TBR.

This book really had me feeling all the emotions - I cried, I laughed and I smiled throughout.

Laura Jane Williams writes vivid, interesting characters that jump of the page. Ruby and Nic's chemistry was off the charts (which was reflected in the steamy scenes - wow)! Their romance was intense and emotional and, as a reader, I truly believed in their connection. A brutally honest right place, wrong time love story. As individual characters, both Ruby and Nic were well developed outside of their romance. They felt like people I would like to know, and I actively was rooting for their success. The side characters were also absolutely brilliant! JP and William were a delight, Harry was the best friend we all want, Ruby's found family of friends were delightful.

Plot wise, this book was fast paced (a contrast that worked well with the slow moving romance). As the two main characters were going through a year of saying yes to new experiences, stuff kept happening to them!! This did keep me on my toes, but towards the end it felt like sometimes the author was cramming in events just to have them in there. Because of this, some of the events lost a bit of their impact.

I do feel the need to mention the one thing I really hated. Throughout, there are mentions of the fact Ruby and her friends were scamming 'foreign students' by getting them to pay above the market value for rent in London. It was barely relevant to the plot and felt really mean spirited. Also not a huge fan of the language used to describe them. No outright racism, but it felt very other-ing.

Overall, I would recommend picking this up if you are looking for a romance-forward chick lit!
