I really loved this book! It was dual POV between Ruby and Nic which is my favourite because I love being able to read from both sides of the story. Both of the protagonists were great and had interesting storylines besides the romance brewing between them. I was really rooting for these two characters to be together and was hoping that they would get their 2nd chance at happiness!

I would definitely recommend this book! I really enjoyed her previous books and this one was no exception!

I had read one Laura Jane Williams' previous books, Our Stop, and absolutely loved this so when I saw it was available for request, I knew I needed to read it. I'm so glad that I did because it really did hit the spot!

Our two main characters, Nic and Ruby, meet by happenstance when Ruby is selling her sofa on Facebook Marketplace. Nic has just moved to London and Ruby is about to move away so this one night is all they're going to have, right? As one can safely assume, what with this being a romance novel and them being the main characters, this can't possibly be accurate but it sure is interesting to watch the ways that this author finds of making their paths continue to meet up.

I really enjoyed Ruby's Year of Me quest to put herself first after breaking up with a man who treated her all kinds of wrong, moving to a new city and embarking upon her master's degree. Her schooling is in filmmaking and watching that subplot develop was definitely entertaining. I loved JP and his desire to meet up with a woman he hadn't seen in over 70 years.

Also, an interesting concept that I'd never really seen explained this way was the freedom of commitment, how, when you commit yourself to the relationship you are in, you can stop playing games or secondguessing everything you/they do and find a great deal of freedom in that.

Just as with Our Stop, I'm left wanting to read more of this author's work because it is just so so good!

What a lovely romance, which I thoroughly enjoyed. If you are looking for an easy to read holiday book, then this is perfect for you.

Ruby is moving away from London, and Nic is moving to London. Nic meets Ruby when he goes to her house to buy a sofa from her. They like each other immediately, and Nic is soon invited back for pizza with Ruby and her housemates. What will happen though when Ruby has to leave London. Will she be able to see Nic again so that they can explore their feelings?

This is a great book, which is funny and light-hearted, with dabs of sadness too, to make it feel authentic. A heart-warmer for sure, this book will give you all the feels, and satisfy that cosy space in you that you have been waiting to be filled!

After loving the author's debut novel, and getting on okay with The Lucky Escape, I came to this book expecting another cheesy romance, perhaps a bit of steam (it delivered on that!), and a happy ending. It's safe to say the story was more emotionally taxing than I though I was signing up for, and there are a couple of trigger warnings worth checking out before you start. Plus, like with The Lucky Escape, the main character had some eyeroll-worthy moments. Definitely not my Laura Jane Williams favourite, but not bad overall.

I really wanted to love this book and was hoping that it was going to be the perfect light romantic/chick-lit novel. However, I found it really hard to get interested in this book as there was ALOT going on and I struggled to connect with all of the characters.

I thought that Nic was great. The perfect gentleman and a guy that every girl wishes she could find. I enjoyed reading about his growth throughout the book and how he tackled the challenges he was faced.

Jackson was also the token bestfriend that everyone wishes they had! He was lovely on all levels. I really enjoyed the friendship that he shared with Nic and was sad to read that they weren't as close as they once were.

I enjoyed the storyline of JP and finding his lost love Amelie and found myself getting quite emotional with how their story played out.

Overall it was an enjoyable read but didn't quite hit the mark for me.

A thoroughly refreshing romantic read where the characters actually say what they’re thinking to each other! I really enjoyed the love story and how it developed. I adored the story within a story of JP and his lost love.

This had me pulled into the story and I had high hopes that I would stay involved with the story but for me it was a bit too up and down and I had to keep reading to get to the next part that would actually grab me, but I never got that in this story.
I liked Nic and Ruby never enough to feel connected to them.

This was a truly beautiful story. It is packed full of flirty romance, awesome characters and guaranteed to give you all the feels! Loved it.!

Fun and heartwarming this story is told through the alternating points-of-view of Ruby and Nic. Ruby is leaving London and ready for a new adventure. Nic is new to London and ready for adventure as well. Through a chance encounter, they meet and spend the night together. I enjoyed the element of "fate" that was woven in this story and found myself cheering for Ruby and Nic!

Okay, I really liked the blurb and the cover. And I thought it would be an endearing read but it wasn't (for me). I didn't really finish this book, so it's not really a review but I want to share what didn't work for me.

The main protagonists. I couldn't connect. Jackson, the friend, is a much more interesting character.
Dialogues/conversation. There are SO MANY dialogues but they aren't interesting. They don't add anything to the story (I felt).
As I said, it's not endearing. There's no love/romance (which really disappointed me). All they are (the heroine, actually) looking for a great sexual experience because, well, the female protagonist is leaving the city and (author's words) "she cannot leave London with Abraham Lawson as the last man to have been inside her. And We’d (her friends) be worse friends if we didn’t get you a better parting memory than that."

The male protagonist has arrived to collect the sofa, which the female protagonist is selling because she is leaving, for five minutes and the heroine is "disappointed that he doesn't fancy her". I mean, seriously?

Overall, I didn't enjoy even though it's my favourite genre.

A story of two people that meet at the wrong time and a sofa! When Nic and Ruby meet they appear to have an instant attraction but timing isn’t on their side. Both trying to find their place in the world but destined to be together? Also loved the part of the story about Ruby and Harry trying to find a piece of JPs past which also brings about part of Williams future. A really lovely story

Ruby and Nic - Nic and Ruby. Their lovestory was like a rollercoaster and I absolutely loved it. The Ups and Downs. That the reader couldn't be sure if they're getting the happy end they deserve or not. But I have to say, that the ending was a good choice for them. Most book couples get ist for sure, but with Ruby and Nic, you just couldn't be. Because of her problems with the miscarriage and the knowing he will be a dad. With Nic, who knows that he loves Ruby, but also couldn't choose between her and his child. And the solution from all of it matched to them.
The only thing I recognized, was the length. In some chapters I got the feeling that the scenes were too long, so that I needed a break or just layed the book down. But the rest? It was a lovely friends-to-Lovers and second chance romance, which I loved :)

I loved this book! It was fun, and our main characters, Ruby and Nic, were fantastic. I loved their chemistry, it kept me hooked right from the start.

This book is a very fun and charming read, the pace of the book flowed perfectly and the writing style was easy to follow and read.

The friendships in this book were also such a huge part of the story, and all of the characters were written really well. I felt connected to them, and to their lives.

This is my first book by Laura Jane Williams, however I am now questioning why I haven't read any others before!

Firstly I want to say I think Laura Jane Williams is a great writer and I have enjoyed all her books including this one. They're easy to read with fairly relatable characters and good storylines. Ruby and Nic's initial meeting and subsequent flirtation was delightful. I loved that it was right place wrong time for them both because they were putting themselves first rather than any external factors. Their individual character development in that time was so good.

Unfortunately for me the last third of the book (post big twist events) just didn't feel like it had the same flow as the rest of the book. I was frustrated at Ruby's actions causing her self imposed misery and I just really don't like when there's a surprise pregnancy involved that forces things (a personal pet peeve). I also didn't appreciate Candice being basically forgotten about and trashed when actually I don't think Ruby was a particularly good friend to her. I found myself becoming quite annoyed as I finished reading this and the ending felt quite messy. Personally I don't think it was quite as fun or charming as LJWs previous books but still a good read especially for the absolute legend that is the character of JP ❤️

This was a simple, easy and quick read. The perfect type of book for your holiday, beach, pool kind of read. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

I adored this story! Ruby and Nic had a chemistry that was undeniable and the will they won't they aspect of the story had me on tender hooks throughout. What I loved most about this story was meeting characters like JP. I love a good love story and the journey to find his missing love was both heart breaking and emotional. Fun, sweet and full of so much love I swept through this story in one sitting and loved every minute of it.

It’s Ruby’s last day in London before heading to Manchester to start a new chapter in her life. She has just for over a disastrous relationship and now heading off to Uni. But before she goes, she has sold her sofa on Facebook marketplace, and she is waiting to the guy who brought it to pick it up. When he arrives there is something about him that attracts Ruby to him which starts an on/off relationship between the two of them.
I was looking forward to reading One night with you by Laura jane Williams after all the good feedback I have seen from her previous novels and for the first part I got drawn into this story that is supposed to be a light-hearted read. But for me personally, after that I struggled with this story. This was not a romance. This story was all about their sexual encounters and what the repressions after it. There was no romance involved and nothing much else happened in this story that I had to DNF it at 52%. Sorry did try and read this, but it just wasn’t for me. 2 stars.

This was a mixed bag for me, I liked it overall but found there were a few story threads that I felt were unnecessary or added when they really shouldn't have been. It was written well but just felt like it was a bit all over the place plot wise sometimes. I definitely preferred her previous books including the novella.

Guys Laura Jane Williams has done it AGAIN! This is a heartfelt love story all about finding the right person at the wrong time and it’s so achingly tender and warm that it’ll have even the most cynic believing in destiny

Ruby meets Nic on her last night in London before she leaves to study film in Manchester. The pair get to spend just that one night together before they have to part ways and so they pledge to make it an unforgettable one night stand before they plough on with their separate lives. However that doesn’t quite go to plan and the pair find themselves drawn to one another despite any obstacles in their path.

There’s an oozing of charm and wit - classic features of Laura’s romcoms - and the characters are vivid and well developed. Their romance is frustrating in the best way and I loved how fast paced their story was, without distracting from Nic and Ruby’s journeys of self discovery. There is sarcasm aplenty and the back and forth kismet like attraction between the pair had me tearing through the pages to find out whether they’d get their happy ever after or not.
