First Phillipa Ashley book I've read. I really enjoyed it, not least because of the gorgeous setting and will certainly be looking out for more of her novels.

A Golden Cornish Summer by @phillipa.ashleyauthor a NetGalley review. Emma grew up in the seaside village of Silver cove however a feud between her family and her first love Luke’s family she leaves. After the death of her father Emma returns to Silver Cove but will she leave. I loved this book, I would go as far as to say this is my favourite of this authors books. This is part of the Falford series but if you haven’t read the previous book this without a doubt is great as a stand alone book. I will say it’s a bit predictable in parts but it’s that good that this doesn’t really matter. I love that the author has put in some great Cornish links, capturing Cornwall between the pages of this book, for example the of the Cornish language. Apart from Emma there is a whole host of great characters and for me I particularly loved Ursula, opinionated, formidable, feisty, talented and warm hearted. Emma is scared of the past, as well as the future. Emma is talented, lacks confidence, she grieving and there’s a lot of secrets. This book is a great summer read, it might me raining outside but this is just what you need. The author makes this story jump off the pages, it’s a easy and relaxing read. I couldn’t put it down and I love in Cornwall. I will be recommending this to friends and family. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Phillipa Ashley is my personal guide to Cornwall. Ofc, I was aware when Cornwall is, but never truly get myself to get to know anything about this place. Now, I'm officialy in love and planning my first ever trip there!

This story is so heart-warming. The characters are real - they struggle, have ups and downs, they are hurt or just enoying their successes. It almost feel like in a big family - independent and together at the same time.

This looked like just the right kind of book to hold off the colder winter evenings with it's blue skies and golden sands. I loved the idea of this storyline - a will-they, won't-they romance sounded great. Emma and Luke were both likeable characters but it was obvious that their teenage relationship years before still created a lot of issues when Emma returned to Silver Cove after her father dies.

The descriptions of the Cornish coast and Silver Cove were absolutely spot on, and as I read I could feel the warmth radiating from the pages. The book began well and I really felt for Emma returning to her childhood home after all that time away. The storyline was a little slower paced for my liking however, and I did find myself wanting Emma and Luke's relationship to move along a bit quicker. I enjoyed the Beachcombers idea though, and loved the idea of picking up the detritus off the beaches.

It was overall an enjoyable read, with lots of light hearted moments and a location to die for. It didn't hold my attention as much as I'd hoped, but I would still recommend if you're in need of a little escapism into the Cornish sun.

I loved returning to Cornwall for another story, this time of Emma and Luke. It tells of treasure, family feuds, lost love and learning forgiveness so you can move on. A fabulous story, loved it from start to finish.

Readers of this author's work know what to expect from Phillipa Ashley: a clean romance, no gratuitous swearing, beautiful descriptions of the location (in this case the beaches and unpredictable Cornish sea) and an ending which is happy, at least in part. I particularly enjoy books within a series where known characters 'drop in'. This book is no exception.
However, this does not do justice to Phillipa's wonderful, clever, imaginative writing: the story has a bit of mystery, messages about pollution are mixed throughout the story in a realistic and interesting way and there is an exciting, enthralling section of the plot that kept me engaged. There are also comical moments, particularly involving children, adding realism. Perfection!

This book is so good, and has so much in it! Every time I picked up "A Golden Cornish Summer", I found myself going on such an emotional journey with this story, and had such a hard time putting this book down.

Firstly, what a beautiful cover!

This is the first book I have read by Philippa Ashley, and it will certainly not be my last! Her writing style is vivid, visceral, full of emotion, and, as the reader, I truly felt pulled in to the story from the first page to the last.

I do not want to say too much about the plot due to spoilers, but, I will say, this book is full of romance, twists, turns, and mystery. When Emma returns to her hometown for the first time in a very long time, old memories and pain come to the surface. When an ex-boyfriend, Luke, and Emma once again enter each other's lives, what happens next? You will just have to read to find out.

The authors love for Cornwall is so clear, and I could truly envision the sea and surrounding places!

I highly recommend this book!

A lovely story to read and so relaxing to read until Ursula tries to find a ring and as a scary sea rescuing with emma and then the love story unfolds with emma and Luke right up to the last page brill

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and loved her writing style which resonated with me. Loved all the characters and they were very relatable

Emma returns to her hometown by the sea. We can just imagine being on the beach and having a dip in the sea. There is family feuds, friendships, romance and the lovely beachcombing aiming to make the place beautiful. The perfect summer read- pack it for your holiday reading.
I love Phillipa's books set in Cornwall- they transport you to a wonderful place and you while away the hours.

Who can resist an opportunity to read the latest novel by Phillipa Ashley, certainly not me!.

I was really excited to read this novel before publication, and it certainly didn’t disappoint!

I love the main characters in this novel, they were complicated, yet straightforward, the novel has twists and turns and I was transported to the seaside town where I have visited besides in previous novels.

A fantastic read, one I would recommend to all my friends

Another wonderful book by Phillipa Ashley. Heart warming and exciting a perfect summer read. Phillipa never let's you down.

This one felt a little different to the other ones I've read recently by Phillipa Ashley, but certainly not in a bad way! The history and treasure between Emma and Luke was intriguing and I learnt something new thanks to the fascinating inclusion of sea glass in the artistic side of Emma's character. This was a brilliant story and had me hooked into the very antisocial hours of the night. I can't wait for her next one and hope Emma and Luke will pop up again at some point in future books.

Really enjoyed this book. Great characters, great story, really felt like of was there in Cornwall. Lovely to be back in Cornwall. Perfect read for the summer months. Escape back to the seaside.

Another evocative story from Phillipa Ashley, Emma reluctantly returns to her Cornwall home for a trip despite harbouring doubts due to a past painful history. Luke, the person she is trying to avoid is one of the first people she encounters whilst flailing in the ocean. We start to find out the story of what caused their conflict and as secrets are uncovered everything becomes clearer.

This is the first time I've read a book by Phillipa Ashley and it certainly wont be the last time based on this book. I really enjoyed it.
Whilst the main story is Emma and Luke's story, I really liked the secondary story of Ursula and Emma. As a crafter I also enjoyed reading about the different crafts mentioned in the book.
Overall a really good story about love, friendship, recycling and our wildlife.

Nobody writes about Cornwall, family and love better than Phillipa Ashley! Once again, Phillipa has written another beautiful summer book which is joyous to read from start to finish.

This one was a lovely read. I really enjoyed reading this one. I just love this kind of books.

Loved returning to Falford, being reunited with past characters from the series and meeting new ones. Beautifully written, the locations come alive to the reader. Emma and Luke’s story this time , with beach clean ups , sea glass, buried treasure and of course community!
A feel good summer read which transports the reader to sunny Cornwall

This was a cute summer read. The characters were good and story much like most of these type of books. I will say the book could have been much shorter, the storyline could’ve been wrapped up quicker sometimes I felt it was a little too detailed. All in all it was a pretty good book and it was cute.
