Teague and Phoebe are PERFECT! Not going to lie, I genuinely love everything I've read from this author, and I have read nearly all her books so picking this up was a no brainer. Fans of hers will recognize the fun snarky humor, absolute craziness, super hot sexy times, and a LOT of personal reflection and growth amidst the chaos. I am a personal fan of the small town mentality, and this one is no exception, though as I've lived in a small town in WI it might hold a special place in my heart. Also, no one does kid or animal mayhem quite the same as Pippa. Absolutely perfect and should be on everyone's TBR, with everything going on in the world, escaping inside a Pippa book should be on the top of everyone's list this summer.

After New York socialite, Phoebe Lightly's grandmother suffers a near death experience, she decides her entire family is in dire need of saving their souls. So she puts them ALL on a road to discovery... in only the way that a filthy rich, dysfunctional family can...

The last thing that Teague Miller wants settling in his town of Tickled Pink, Wisconsin is a famous family that will bring in unwanted media attention and chaos. And he definitely could do without the extremely complicated, and fascinating Phoebe Lightly being there as well...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The One Who Loves You was a hilariously quirky and fun, opposites attract romance! Phoebe and Teague's antagonistic love story was spicy, heartwarming, and, at times, utterly insane...
I really enjoyed Phoebe's character in this book. She quickly took to the task of finding out who she really was as a person, and realized fairly immediately that she did not like what she saw. Life in New York quickly falls away, and even though she has to deal with the insanity that is her entire family, Phoebe embraces the people of Tickled Pink... including one very grumpy, goat farmer...
Teague is a simple man who lives in a tree house and loves to fish, and he had the best relationship with his highly entertaining daughter and his ex-wife. For all of his prickly exterior, I loved that Teague was unwaveringly loyal and protective, even when it came to Phoebe, who he was not yet completely sure that he liked!
This book was a silly and entertaining read. The crazy small town antics mixed with the equally insane Lightly family made for non-stop laugh out loud moments, while the romance between Phoebe and Teague was sexy, endearing, and transformative for them both.
This is the first book in the Tickled Pink series, and I can't wait to see what is in store for the characters in this sweet, yet crazy town...
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
The One Who Loves You begins a new series with a fish out of water trope, where a rich NYC socialite finds herself stuck in a small town with the real folks. I generally like Pippa Grant's work, having previously read over 15 books from her, across several different series. She is a successful writer of comedic, contemporary romance and her books are easy to get into. In the past, I've loved some of her stories that hit the right balance of funny/sexy for me, but also found others too ridiculously silly for my liking. This book was not as silly as some, but definitely ridiculous, plot-wise. I liked the locals in the town, and especially the supporting character Bridget. I never grew to like the main character Phoebe or any of her family, and wasn't able to connect with her redemption journey. I found the hero, Teague, under-developed and a little dull. His interesting bits came too late in the story. A lot of excessive character personal thoughts slowed down the flow of the narrative, sometimes pages and pages of it, in the midst of dialogue scenes. The story doesn't really go anywhere, several plot threads are started and dropped, and while there were parts I enjoyed, it didn't add up to a meaningful whole.
I also have to mention the cover -and I realize that is a publisher choice and not necessarily an author choice - but come on, this guy on the cover doesn't match up, description wise or especially age wise, for the hero. Distracts and detracts.
The One Who Loves You was not a favorite for me from Pippa Grant, but I will continue to read her in the future.
Thank you to Montlake via Netgalley for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
The One Who Loves You is my first introduction to author Pippa Grant and what an introduction it is!
As this was a blast to read. As socialite Phoebe Lightly her influencer sister Tavi and their hopeless brother Carter are dragged and probably bribed to Tickled Pink, Wisconsin. Along with their parents by grandmother and matriarch Estelle (Gigi) who after an unfortunate incident has decided the Lightly family need redemption and that can only be found in a small run-down, backwoods town.
But not everyone in Tickled Pink is happy to see the Lightlys and would rather they find their way to salvation anywhere else, even if the town badly needs the money they offer and that especially includes grumpy single dad Teague. Who has a whole list of reasons why he doesn't want this self-centred family staying put.
So when Phoebe asks him to help persuade Gigi to get out of Tickled Pink for good. He's all in. He just didn't count on falling for Phoebe along the way.
But can two people who seemingly don't have anything in common and spend most of their time arguing really find a happy ever after?
And with an extremely memorable small-town setting, heat, humour and characters that grow. This genuinely was a great read. That had me smiling throughout, and it's one I'd happily recommend to all.
Phoebe was a tough character to like in the beginning. She comes across as spoiled and entitled. I was seriously questioning if I would ever like her and if her character was redeemable. I’m still kind of on the fence about her, though by the end of the book I did like her character more than when I started. Teague was an enjoyable character from the start. Though, he is somewhat of a grump. BUT I love that he lived in a treehouse, because that’s just kind of awesome. He also has his own secrets.
There is chemistry between Phoebe and Teague from the moment they meet, even if they aren’t really that fond of each other in the beginning. There are plenty of hilarious interactions between them and even some spice.
I loved the small town, the quirkiness of the town and the people in it, plus all the laughs that came along with reading this book.
If you’re looking for a small town, single dad, rom com check this one out.
The One Who Loves You by Pippa Grant is currently scheduled for release on July 12 2022. If the Upper East Side had an evil twin, it would be Tickled Pink, Wisconsin. This run-down, backwoods town isn’t worthy of the footprint of my Louboutins, never mind all of me. But when my grandmother has a near-death experience and realizes we Lightlys can’t buy our way into heaven, she relocates the family to Tickled Pink to work on improving our souls. And that’s how I trade my heiress existence for gigantic bugs, dishwater coffee, and a cranky single dad named Teague Miller. Teague spends his days fishing, raising his spunky teenager, and after an unfortunate incident involving cheese curds, living rent-free in my head. The one thing he and I can agree on is that I don’t belong here. He’s willing to help me escape—until the unexpected happens. I kind of like him. I might even more than like him. But am I ready to give up the life I adored for a man I love to hate?
The One Who Loves You is an introduction to a whole new set of characters and a new small town for fans of Pippa Grant, which honestly threw me for a minute. I kept trying to remember where I might have seen the town or some if the characters before, since I have read a great deal from the author, but it was all new for me. I also admit that it took me a minute to warm up to Phoebe, which was likely intentional because of her personal story and character growth. I was glad to have gotten the story from the heads of both Phoebe and Teague, I don't think the relationship building and story of the town would have felt quite so real and intense with out both aspects of the story. They each had issues, secrets, and things to work on- even if it looked or felt one sided. I thought the reveal was mildly expected by the time the twist came along, but I liked the was it was done and the way the resolution played out. I also really liked that we got to know the whole town, and that even the secondary characters felt very real and multi dimensional.
The One Who Loves You is the same blend of laugh and character growth that fans have come to expect from the author.
I absolutely adored this book! I wasn’t sure at first how much I would like Teague and Phoebe from their first interaction, but honestly they crept under my skin and I was rooting from them to work out.
Phoebe was so great and I especially enjoyed how much of a marshmallow she was. I thought that Teague was such a supportive father and ex-husband. Teague’s secret wasn’t all too terrible other than his lack of honesty and being upfront with others in Tinkled Pink.
I am really excited to see what happens with Tavi and what Lola is doing in town.
Thank you to NetGalley and Pippa Grant for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Phoebe Lightly is part of the Manhattan Lightly’s. They are Uber wealthy and ruthless. When Phoebe is having dinner with her Grandmother Gigi, she leaves the table for just a minute, when she comes back, her Grandmother is choking. Her grandmother is convinced she went to Hell and now is determined to save her family. She is determined that she needs to follow the plot of an old movie, Pink Gold, to ensure that they go to heaven. She moves the family into a dilapidated High School in Tinkled Pink Wisconsin, where the movie was filmed. Teague Miller is the local real estate agent that sold the high school to Gigi. He is a grumpy dad, coparenting his daughter with his ex. He want nothing to do with the spoiled city folks, and forms an alliance with Phoebe to drive her grandmother out. This is a fun RomCom that had a touch of Taming of the Shrew thrown in for good measure. This was a delightful romp, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the author for my honest review.
I liked Phoebe and Teague and their journey. I liked the town of Tickled Pink and the people there. There were a few slapstick moments, but it wasn't as funny as previous books by this author. The focus was more on the fact that people are more than they seem. I am looking forward to finding out wht more there is to Tavi when she gets a book.
The One Who Loves You by Pippa Grant is the first book in the Tickled Pink Series by this author so I’m guessing there will be at least a few more in this series. When I read the blurb I immediately wanted to read it because I’m all about small town romances. Unfortunately, it fell a little short for me and it’s not because of the writing – it’s well written and I still like the story line, but I just felt like it dragged on and on. Maybe if it hadn’t been such a long read, I would’ve enjoyed it more or maybe because I still have a hangover from my previous read and that’s why it colored my perspective of this book. That being said, please don’t take my review as a negative one and please give this book a chance! If you like small town romance, I think you’ll enjoy Ms. Grant’s first book in this series. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy of this book.
“You’re more than your last name, Phoebe. You’re proving it every single day here.”
The One Who Loves You is not what I usually expect from a Pippa Grant book, but this story was still just as charming and fun as her typical stories. It is a lighthearted, small-town, fish out of water story that involves a journey of self-discovery and figuring out what’s important in your life.
When Phoebe’s grandmother has a near death experience, she decides that her entire family needs to learn to be better people and she forces them to move from the city to a small town. With the help of Teague and the townspeople of Tickled Pink, Phoebe soon begins to question her entire life and embarks on a journey to discover who she really is and what makes her happy.
“I’m here because he’s come to represent a weird place where I can be myself, even when I don’t exactly know what that means. But I know I’m safe while I figure it out.”
I didn’t like Phoebe very much at first. She was self-involved and entitled, but when she started to stop caring about appearances and what others thought, the depth of her heart and character started to shine through. Underneath all that attitude was a woman with a lot of sass and a giving heart.
“She’s not what I’m supposed to be attracted to, but I can’t seem to help myself. Probably because she’s more than I thought she was when she arrived. She might even be more than she thought she was.”
Teague has his own secrets and he disliked Phoebe and her family on sight because he recognized their elitist attitude. He projected an attitude of irritated grumpiness to protect himself from getting to close to outsiders, but once Phoebe worms her way into his life, he finds himself fascinated by her.
“You make my soul better. You make me want to step out of the shadows. You’re what’s missing in my life, and the thought of losing you forever is scarier than the thought of my past catching up with me. I don’t want to live with the fear anymore. I want to live with the light.”
This quirky and charming story was a lot of fun and showcased so much growth for the main characters. Both Teague and Phoebe had to examine their own past behavior in order to grow and learn from it. They had to learn that sometimes you have to let someone know you completely, all the good and the bad, in order to fully experience love and life.
“What matters is realizing that who you are is who you want to be and that you surround yourself with the people who help you get there.”
Full of snarky banter, small-town hijinks, and so much heart, The One Who Love You will pull on your heartstrings and leave you with a smile. I’m looking forward to a return trip to Tickled Pink and discovering more of the Lightly family secrets.
This was such an amazing story that had me laughing so much! Phoebe is a socialite who has it all except what matters most. Her entire life she has strived to be the one in the family to take over the family business but she never thought it would require so much. Her grandma Estelle is one of a kind who you never cross. One of the rules if you are never late to meet with Estelle without dealing with her wrath. Phoebe has been summoned to meet with her and of course she is running a few minutes late. Once she is there her grandmother ends up almost dying from getting food stuck in her throat. After a near miss Estelle is determined to make herself and her family become better people. In order to do so she has purchased an old school building in Tickled Pink and insists her family clean it up and live there for a year. Phoebe is determined to do what she has to do so she can leave this godforsaken small country town. She never expected to hate one person as much as she hate Teague when she meets him. He is the one person who sold her grandmother the old school building which should be condemned. Teague is enjoying every second of the Lightly family’s suffering. He is determined to make them miserable and run them out of town. Little did he know that Phoebe isn’t as bad as she seems and is someone who might rock his perfect little world he has built in this town. I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Welcome to Tickled Pink, WI, where the famous Pink Gold movie was shot and where Teague Miller lives a happy yet unconventional life - it's not every man who's best friend with his ex-wife AND her new wife. He lives for this town and the precious teenage daughter he loves to death.
His life is about to be majorly disturbed by The Lightlys - the Upper East Side Lightlys, who arrive there towed by their matriarch who, after a "near death experience", wants to use movie Pink Gold as the blueprint to shape her whole bunch of uppity family members into "good people" so that they can all avoid the fiery pits of hell.
Arriving in this group of stuck-up, clueless people is Phoebe, the eldest of the grandchildren. She's pretty much the entitled socialite Teague has no time for and zero interest in, but when thrown into this version of Schitt's Creek rather than Pink Gold , she steps up - much to her own surprise and befuddlement.
With this whole bunch of outsiders comes unwanted attention. They'll not only make the local gossip paper but pretty soon news of what the prominent Manhattan family is doing in the Middle of Nowhere, Wisconsin will make it to the major gossip rags - and Teague has his family to protect and a secret he'll do anything to keep.
I loved this book! It's quintessential Pippa! The "fish out of water" family is hilarious and the whole town is kind of adorable. There's a whole bunch of lovable characters and the shenanigans are all there. But what I loved the most is how it hits you in the feels. You will fall in love with Bridget Miller and her dad and her moms. You will root for Phoebe, who finds out that, OMG, she has a heart!
I'm glad it's book 1 in a series because I, like Phoebe, fell in love with Tickled Pink and I definitely want to go back.
Rep and possible triggers: bisexual and trans rep; race diversity. I usually list triggers, but all the issues are dealt in a such a sweet, delicate manner that I don't think it could be triggering, imho.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.   Thank you, NetGalley, Montlake and Pippa Grant for the advanced copy.
A little shocking and a lot of fun, The One Who Loves You is a very enjoyable read.
Featuring a sweet little small town backdrop, a great story line with great character depth and development and filled with banter, sass, blackmail, friendly ghosts, terrifying grandmothers, secrets revealed, soul searching, wifi withdrawal, the perfect treehouse and of course a fishing lumberjack, this story is bound to keep you captivated and invested in Phoebe and Teague's push and pull and the Lightly family's quest to ensure their access at the pearly gates.
4.5 stars and a Ferris Wheel
Pippa explored a whole new world with the Tickled Pink characters, & I am totally here for it!
Teague & Phoebe have this spark from the very beginning. Not all sparks are good, but they have the potential to be something amazing…this was no exception.
Phoebe was the spoiled, rich, New York socialite who was dropped into Tickled Pink by her grandmother on a mission of self & family discovery. Little did she know, all it would take was an opportunity to see true caring, love, friendship & family for her to realize that she couldn’t survive as the woman she now wanted to be in that concrete jungle.
Teague has a past of his own that he escaped to become the down to earth & good hearted family man that he is today. Sometimes we have to leave behind valuable things to learn the most essential lesson in life…discovering who we are & loving that person. Teague found his way to his happiness, & was perfectly content until his world was shaken up by an entitled socialite family with a debutante who had the ability to steal his heart.
Phoebe & Teague’s story was fun, intriguing, heart breaking, & SEXY. I liked diving into the new world of Tickled Pink & I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment.
This is a standalone from an author who is a one-click for me. I have read all her published work (under both pen names) and I am thrilled that she has added this book to her catalog. This is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA. Most of the author’s books share a connected world. Except for a few Easter eggs, this book is its own world without any character cross-over.
Phoebe is a socialite climbing the corporate ladder of her family dynasty when events lead her grandmother, Estelle, to uproot her entire family for a year in Tickled Pink, Wisconsin. Her goal is for them to find themselves, become better people, and earn their way into heaven. There are several references to a fictional 80’s movie set in Tickled Pink ton which Estelle has based this whole idea.
Teague is a single dad, fisherman, goat farmer and more. I loved his gruff and grumbly exterior and the soft heart he has toward his daughter. He and Phoebe have sparks flying from the beginning. Phoebe is a fish out of water to start, and it was very funny to read. I love how this book is about Phoebe coming to terms with her true self almost as much as her falling in love with Teague. I love that Teague has secrets that are revealed over the course of the book. There are several secondary characters which are enjoyable to read and add to the story in their own ways.
This was steamy, laugh out loud read that would make a very fun movie.
**My thanks to Netgalley and Montlake Romance for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
When this book starts off, I started to wonder where the author was going to go with this, but as a constant to the authors writing we have strong characters and a witty dialogue along with characters that grow and you cannot help but love.
Phoebe Lightly is a socialite from New York in the the backwoods with her family after the matriarch of the family has a come to Jesus moment from nearly dying one evening. The family needs to reform and find themselves.
Phoebe show that she is not afraid of hard work, nor is she afraid of facing things head on and she certainly grows a a person and stays true to the good side of herself.
Teague lives in the backwoods and has an ex-wife that he gets on with along with his teenage daughter who he has shared custody of. He is very protective of those he loves, but he is also hiding secrets.
Teague and Phoebe are a good pairing and it ends up being Phoebe teaching Teague more life lessons as she goes through her changes in a very public way.
I really enjoyed the beginning of this series and cannot wait for the next book and to see what happens with the Lightly family.
I discovered Pippa Grant through America's Geekheart and quickly started reading everything I could find of hers on KU. I've got a bunch left to go but I enjoy her books. They are usually quirky, over the top, sexy and full of banter. The One Who Loves You which I believe is Grant's first book with Montlake was no different.
Set in Tickled Pink, Wisconsin, TOWLY features Teague and Phoebe. Teauge has lived in this small town for 16 years with his daughter, his ex wife and her wife and a ragtag bunch of fun neighbors. Phoebe is forced to be in this small town for a year after her grandmother (who holds the purse strings) has a near death experience and is convinced the family must live together in an old school to become better people -- all because of a movie she saw set in the town.
At first, I struggled with the book. I wasn't enjoying the socialite character and found her incredibly entitled. And then I realized that was the point and I relaxed a little bit. As Phoebe continues to get to know the residents, especially Teague, she starts to see what a kind of terrible human she's been and starts trying to improve herself while her family struggles to adjust to small town living. She begins to fall in love with the town, the people, Teague and herself and comes to see that there is more to life than being a NYC socialite.
The book was full of great banter, funny escapades and characters that will pull at your heartstrings and annoy you (sometimes in the same sentence). It was definitely a fun ride. The One Who Loves You comes out on July 12 and is up for pre-order now.
This was very enjoyable and fun! If you're into the "big city girl goes to a small town and falls for the grumpy annoyed-at-her local", give it a go. The One Who Loves You has a high-maintenance heroine, a grumpy single dad who loves to fish, and very meddlesome neighbors.
It took a bit to get into the story and the characters, especially the heroine. The writing style is different from what I usually read, but when I finally got used to the sudden scene changes, I was good to go. This book follows Phoebe, a New York socialite, whose life takes a turn when her grandmother, the family's matriarch, suddenly moves them all to this town in the middle of nowhere, aka Tickled Pink. After her grandmother almost dies, she thinks the only way to go to heaven is for them to turn good (lmao), so that's why they move to this small town, to renovate the abandoned high school, etc. But obviously, this rich family is not used to... not living in riches, so it's very funny to read how everything is so out of their everyday life.
Especially for Phoebe. But I love seeing her character journey and growth in the book. She stars as a vapid, manipulative socialite who only wants to get that coveted place in the family company. But slowly, by meeting new people and the hero Teague, she starts to change and realize that she practically doesn't know who she is. She has been on a path since a very young age, but when you take that away from her, who is she, you know.
Teague is so grumpy and their relationship definitely starts as a dislike to love kinda. He wants to make them leave the town, for personal reasons, so he tries all the things to annoy them. Soon, though, his heart is beating very fast whenever Phoebe appears, he loves having her attention, he is always there to save her, and so on. They sort of become partners in crime and then friends with benefits but you soon see them falling for each other hard.
Also, it's important for me to say that Teague owns a tree house AN ACTUAL TREE HOUSE AND HE LIVES IN IT. Like he built it and it's amazing and perfect. He also has goats and there are some epic scenes with them and Phoebe. I really do love me a small town, because so many things happen whenever they live in one, but also the meddlesome neighbors and the people who live there are so hilarious and always there to mess up things. Or you know, to make the big city girl feel like they have found a new family, a found family, to love her too.
At first, I was not loving the Lightly family, but by the end of the book, I was asking for books featuring Phoebe's siblings. Oh my god, they grew on me and I'm so excited to see what's next in this series. We have some characters that might be getting a HEA for sure and I cannot wait to see it develop.
Pippa Grant has built an inviting and thoroughly humorous world guaranteed to suck you in and leave you wanting the next story, pronto. The characters are richly developed, and the diversity represented is sure to promise the reader someone unique to relate to and root for in Tickled Pink. Pippa has a wonderful gift of blending heart, humor, and passion, and I can’t recommend this story enough.
