This is a very good novel and I found the development of the central characters really interesting and made me want to read on and find out more.

Kate is in her mid twenties and her life has been blighted by the disappearance of her older sister Scarlett some years ago. Her family have become scared and they keep secrets from each other. In London, while secretly looking for Scarlett, Kate meets enigmatic Della, who is an older sophisticated lady she recognises from tv as a life guru.

The book pivots on the turbulent relationship between these two women and the disappearance of Scarlett. Della seems to have taken Kate under her wing but once Kate is ensconced in Della’s villa abroad things take a far more dark and dangerous turn.

The book covers lots of areas including mental health , family secrets and good old fashioned deception. The reader is looking towards the ending and trying to pick up all the threads and see if the author will give the ending that we expect.

I enjoyed the book hugely but had some issues with the ending in that I did feel that little more clarity was needed and it closes with some unanswered questions.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Chance Meetings…
Chance meetings lead to disastrous consequences in this simmering suspense. Drawing in the reader from the off, and with a gradual build of tension, the plot begins and is populated with a wholly credible and well described cast leading to an ultimately satisfying denouement. Entertaining and engaging throughout.

In this book we meet Kate who has had a little bit of a tough time recently with the disappearance of her sister, Kate decides to move to London to get a fresh new start.

Kate decides to join a support group which is where she meets Della. Della is a little bit odd
think sweet white female odd. Della takes very special interest in Kate, and soon they become very close friends. Kate is suddenly entangled in all of Della's life her friends, her family, even her house. The people in the support group had all tried to warn Kate about Della and soon Della's veneer starts to slip and everything begins to crumble around kate. Who really is Della and why is she really intent on being best friends with Kate? Is it too late for Kate to make an escape?

This is a really good gritty book. I really enjoyed it because it reminded me of old school gritty movies. Where you feel uneasy all the way through but you can't really pinpoint exactly why. This is a really well written book that I throughly enjoyed.

A bit of a psychological thriller, but sadly not one that had me gripped. It was just ok, and not enough of a stand out from the crowd which is a pity.

OMG! This drew me in quickly and there was that instant tension of a drama unfolding. An incredibly well thought out, very original plotline and one I had not foreseen. I turned ever quicker and devoured this- the sign of a gripping, well written read. A captivating, rollercoaster of a book. Loved it.

Like your chick-lit with some extra spice? This is definitely the one for you - your suspicions will be everywhere as you plough through the pages, questioning everyone as you go. It's an easy read, but one that is peppered with so many interesting themes and plot points; you won't see the ending coming at all! It isn't perfectly written but it does the job.

Now this is a really interesting and original book...

Kate lives in the shadow of her sister's disappearance all those years ago, she's moved to London following up a vague possible sighting. Her life is unfulfilled and otherwise aimless.

Della is a successful life coach who invites women into her select counselling group to help them fulfil their potential.

I was very curious as to where this was going, the character writing is very good, but I couldn't tell which direction the thriller was going to come from...

And then it hit me! The last third is stay absolutely compelling, emotionally involving and well worth the build up. This book is at times bleak, lonely and harrowing, perfectly pulling you into Kate's world.

Definitely recommended if you enjoy slower build ups with sensational, all-consuming endings.

This was a good book overall. It was gripping and engaging. The pace was adequate and the characters were interesting. My only gripe is that it wasn’t that memorable. There have been many similar books.

This book was not for me if I am honest. The first half I really enjoyed and then it all got slightly far fetched for my liking. The ending was also as flat as a pancake.

This book is amazing!!!I was so hooked that I literally skipped dinner to keep on reading. It was such a fascinating read and really captivates you and just gets so deep under your skin. It has such an eerie vibe the whole way through and you really can't put the book down because you just become so invested in the story and in wanting so see what happens next. Its got a good pace to it and ugh, I can't say enough good things!! Its not your typical thriller, it just feel elevated somehow and a bit of a more intelligent read. The characters were so well written that it's impossible not to care and not to just need to know what's going on and what's going to happen next. 100% recommend
