I thoroughly enjoyed this cookbook and bought it. It is dog-eared and a little spattered from cooking from it, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Every kind of savory dinner pie you can think of is in here. Well-written and beautifully photographed, I reach for it quite often!

What a fun Cookbook! Who does not love savory pies - pot pies, quiche, pizza, meat pies, Everything is better with pie crust under it, over it or both. Great comfort food. Pizza ad quiche are included in this cookbook. Yum!

The cookbook includes information on recommended tools for the recipes in this book. The recipes start off with recipes for a number of different crusts. I really liked the information at the end of each crust recipe called Recipe for Success. This gives you detailed information about each crust and why some of the ingredients are included like vinegar.

The book has a table of contents, so that you can find what you want to make quickly. I also like the way the chapters are broken up telling you what is included in that chapter.

I was not sure how this cookbook would work for me since I am gluten free. But I use really wonderful gluten free flour so the recipes should work fine.

Pot pies are my favorite, so I'm excited to try out different dinner pies to try! All the pictures look so yummy.

Perfect for those cold nights when you need to cook a warm dinner. Pies are not the easiest to make (especially as someone who doesn't try a lot of new recipes), but these are definitely possible for anyone willing to take the time to try.

The delicious recipes that Ken Hadrich, a savory pie expert extraordinaire, has shared in this lovely book will be cherished by my family in the winter months to come.

Excellent not only for home cooks, but for children and teenagers looking to bake and provide a tactile and provisional experience for their families and friends.

From simple pie dough recipes two more elaborate ones and The most incredible pot pie recipes, your mouth will water you flip through the book and imagine these in your belly!

Creative and imaginative recipes fill this book for people who want a more classic dish or a more unique one.

I am a huge pie fan, and the recipes in this book really broadened my horizons when it came to what could be put in a pie! I'll definitely be coming back to this book - savory pies need more love!

Savory baking is one of my fave things ever, so was really looking forward to this. In reviewing the recipes.. I was not 'pulled in' to anything I wanted to make.. These all seemed very basic, and not intrigueing. I would not buy this book for an experienced baker, but might be fine for a beginner/novice baker.

This is a pleasant and simple cookbook for fans of flaky crusted, savory delights. Haedrich has compiled an expansive collection of crusted goodies within 'Savory Dinner Pies'. The only thing I wanted more of was photos! While there are photos incorporated throughout, I love when every recipe has an image to grad the readers attention and inspire their culinary adventures. The recipes are easy to follow and look delicious! Definitely one to check out for sure if you are looking to shake up your dinner routine.

I love pies. Sweet or savory, I don’t care. All I need is a flaky crust and I’m happy. This was the perfect cookbook. So many different ways to make a pie I loved it

This was mouth wateringly delectable. I will likely purchase this as a hardcopy because I do prefer recipes in physical form. But great ideas!!!

In Ken Haedrich, updated book Savory Dinner pies...you fall in love with pies all over again! And you don't even care that they are not sweet! I like how the recipes are easy to follow with lots of pictures to help you through each step, but not all recipes have a picture which is a bummer. Haedrich even shares on different products and techniques on all kinds of pies. Very helpful if you are starting out and really want to learn more.

A wonderful book all about pies. And not the sweet ones that are usually written about. I really enjoyed the various pies in this book (over 70) and not all of them are just variations of chicken pot pie.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

Savory dinner pies by Ken Hardrich is a wonderful cook book full of great recipes from different cultures around the world. I enjoyed the variety of pies and their easy to follow recipes. This book has beautiful photographs of the recipes and is bound to make you hungry just looking at it. I suggest this book for anyone who loves pies and wants to expand their baking potential.

I've enjoyed the author's Pie Academy book, full of interesting sweet pies and tarts. I was delighted therefore to receive a digital advance review copy from the publisher via NetGalley of this book of savoury pies.

Its full of interesting pie etc recipes with equally interesting pastry recipes, including one using corn meal (or polenta).

After introductory chapters including ingredients and equipment, the recipes span the following:
Pie Doughs & Pastries
Hand Pies, Turnovers, & Pizzas
Little Pies, Tarts & Galettes
Quiches & Their Cousins
Pot Pies, Shepherd’s Pies & a Meat Pie Miscellany
Cobblers, Strudels, & Other Wrapped Entrees.

Recipes are described in a conversational style. There are some great photos of some, though not all, finished pies

My only real caveats are that Ken's pastry methods involve a lot of refrigeration, and that it's written for an American audience and therefore quantities tend to need conversion and some ingredient names too.

Rating 3.5 stars

I love a pie for dinner, so this book certainly appeal to me to review when I saw it on Netgalley.

The book is divided into 7 main chapters (no of recipes) plus an introduction
- Pie dough & pastries (12)
- Hand pies, turnovers, and pizzas (14)
- little pies, tarts and galettes (17)
- quiches and their cousins (18)
- pot pies (15)
- shepherd's pies & meat pie miscellany (8)
- Cobblers, Strudels & other wrapped entrees (8)

The Introduction provides details on the tools required, a guide to ingredients, pie doughs, and baking strategies.

First things first, the measurements are in imperials terms, though there is a conversion chart at the back of the book, though only has cups to liquid not weight (such as the flour). There is a lack of colour photographs with each recipe - I do like a picture with my recipes so I know how it should turn out!

Each recipe begins with an introduction, then lists the base pie dough that is required from the first chapter and goes on to include the ingredients to make up the main recipe. Each recipe has easy-to-follow steps and provides details on the number of portions. Some of the ingredient terms are American, such as zucchini and heavy cream. Each recipe also has a box called 'Recipe for Success' where the author gives their tips and some recipes also come with additional help such as how to roast tomatoes or to shave an ear of corn.

There are plenty of pies to choose from for your dinners, the sauce and Guinness pie sounds interesting, along with the Moroccan lamb pie.

Over all this is a good book, easy to follow but lack pictures.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.

A whole world of yummy dinner pies! This cookbook is well written and clear. I tried two pies and the basic crust recipe and all turned out so well (and also froze really nicely). I'll definitely be coming back to this cookbook for more dinner ideas.

I really enjoyed this cookbook! I was super intrigued by an entire cookbook on savory pies. I really enjoyed the recipes and the style of the writing. The author clearly knows what he's talking about and I loved his sense of humor. He even managed to make the topic of which pie pan to use. I haven't made any of the recipes but I have saved quite a few! There are so many ideas in this book that there is sure to be something for everyone.
