This book is all about the power of female friendships. I loved the setting in the Lake District. I felt the writing was a bit repetitive at times

An unusual book, beautifully written, full of gentle undercurrents that bring floods of emotion. The gorgeous setting is exactly right for the strong theme of friendship, making this a real curl-up-in-your-armchair read.

The book centers around four main characters

Abby and her daughter who live in the Lake District. Abby works in the Plum Pie Bakery and is trying to come to terms with her new life now that her husband had left her.

Lori is in the Lake District on holiday from the United States. Hoping to have an adventure of her own away from the hustle and bustle to her every day life.

Rebecca is in the lakes as she is trying to come to terms with the trauma of her childhood and to try and over come her fear of water.

And finally Clarissa is a veteran all year round open water swimmer and founder of the Wildwater Women. She loves nothing more than being in the open water and swears by it for her endless amount of energy and youthful looks.

Each woman has their own issues, and has their own reasons to be in the lakes. They all come from different backgrounds and have their own stress and worries in life. But they form an instant friendship and help each other navigate their new lives and come to terms with their pasts.

This is a really great book about the power of female friendship and the power of yourself and how strong you are and how you can overcome anything.
