Tried and Tested: The Wild Ride Into Parenthood by Sophie McCartney another NetGalley read. Sophie McCartney is a comedian and in this book she enters into the world of parenthood, right through until they start school. I love these reality mum books and in the early days of parenthood I found comfort in these types of books. This book has its place and is different to many others in that you get the feeling the author doesn’t take herself to seriously and maybe being a comedian helps this. It’s funny, at points hilarious, relatable and refreshingly brave, raw and honest. Yes it’s a funny read however she doesn’t leave out the emotional parts of trying to become a parent and her journey to becoming a parent. Sadly I’ve had 2 miscarriages and people just don’t talk about it or shy away from talking about and maybe if we did talk about it, in part it would help woman when they go through it, hope that makes sense! Sophie talks openly and honestly about what she went through and even though you know and my miscarriages were 8 years ago, I found comfort in her words, knowing that I wasn’t alone (even though I knew I wasn’t). Let’s just say it had its wow moments that left you reaching for a tissue. I think it’s Waldo important to say that this is Sophie’s experience, with quite a few comedic gems thrown in, however it’s worth remembering even though this is extremely relatable and we all as parents go through those milestone moments, every parents could write a book on their experience (I’m not saying they could, should or what they wrote would be publishable) and every book would be different, because every parent is different and so is every child. This isn’t me saying this book is terrible, because it’s definitely not, it’s like having a mum friend around and swapping stories and being able to relate to them and take some relief in what you are reading knowing that someone else is or has gone through the good, brilliant, tough and hard parts of parenting and in that you can find comfort. I hope this review makes sense! I think if you like these parenting books (like me) it’s definitely worth a read and it is different from what is already out there. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just like her videos, this book made me laugh out loud. As a woman with no kids I still found it a brilliant read and her humour transitions really well to paper.

Sophie McCartney for those of you that don't know is the very funny lady behind Tired 'N' Tested, a frankly hilarious social media phenomenon. She presents a frank and funny insight into the trials, tribulations and absolute joy of being a mom. This book is the story of how she went from 90s party girl to a social media comedy genius. Can you tell I like her? So it was actually with some worry that I began this. What if her videos don't translate to the page, or it was just a rehash of her online jokes? But fear not. This was a freaking fantastic read. Funny, touching and for this kind of book also very sensitively handled as despite it been a very funny book it does also touch on some difficult subjects. A fantastic and relatable read.

I love Sophie’s social media videos so I was looking forward to reading this. It is great - and I would recommend this to new or soon-to-be parents but it lacked the comic delivery of her videos. She’s visually so funny so this wasn’t quite as good.

This is my kind of book. Really funny. I think if even if your not a parent like me you’ll still find this funny. On occasions I even laughed out loud whilst fiancé was watching football. I had to tell him what I was laughing at. The antics and the things her kid would say was shocking but funny.

I hope Sophie brings out more books as I love her writing.

Thanks goes to net galley and the publishers for providing me with a copy in for an honest review. And also thank you to Sophie for writing it. Please write more.

Parenthood. Comes as a nasty shock to the system, even when you're expecting it. And a very funny one too.

Excellent fun
