The book starts off with Rose in hiding in a cabin in the woods, frightened for her life. Her past is slowly revealed, layer by layer. I rooted for her to come out swinging. After all the losses she had to suffer through, she deserved at least one win.

I read this book in one day, it was impossible to put it down. The narrative is tense, the development is great and it keeps you allert and still surprises you with all the twists the plot brings. I really loved it!

I read this very quickly - it is dark, thrilling and a little scary! It had my heart galloping. Lots of twists and turns which just increased the tension. Loved it!

Fast paced edge of your seat thriller. This book actually had me holding my breath in places.

Well written and captivating. A bit scary in places too. Likable or somewhat likable characters. An author who’s books I will keep looking for.

This was a good thriller, quick read. This is my second novel by the author. Both times I have enjoyed the books, but they are not new favorites. As I said this was a quick, entertaining read. I read this in one sitting, and it genuinely did creep me out. I will look for more from this author in the future.

As someone who reads plenty of mystery/thriller books, I would highly recommend this one! Thrillers are never too shocking to me anymore, since I read so many, but this one has some unexpected twists and is a great time overall. Definitely recommend for anyone who's interested in this genre or if the synopsis sounds intriguing to you.

WOW!!! This book tells about one hell of a determined, strong, independent female lead.

The Cabin In The Woods was not how it appeared from the cover… I know, I know – don’t judge a book by it’s cover but what may seem as the haunted cabin trope it most certainly was anything but.

This was an incredible storyline, I became so focused and interested in Rose’s life and I had to keep reading just one more chapter to see how it ended. I needed her to win!

When it seemed like the win wasn’t possible, I became disappointed, disheartened – Rose became important to me and it kept me turning those pages to know how it all ended for her.

What I loved most was how easy it would have been for the author to give our star the happy ending she deserved, but she didn’t. Well, maybe in a way but it fitted perfectly.

As someone else very correctly pointed it out, this it is more of a domestic drama than a psychological thriller.

We are following on two timelines the story of a woman with a terrible childhood and who gets married with someone that seems to be a man out of a fairytale. Handsome, rich, kind, her hero. But after a few years of marriage and a child things start to take a turn for the worse.

The story starts pretty intriguing but the ending is a bit of a let down with quiet a few turn of events that are unrealistic and exaggerated.

We are following Rose in two different timelines. One timeline follows young Rose, who had a very rough childhood but when she meets very successful Ryan Reid her luck changes and she feels like she’s living in a fairytale. The other timeline is some time in the future, Rose is hiding out in a secluded cabin trying to make sure no one finds her; However, she soon discovers someone is watching her. Why did she run in the first place?

I thought this book was captivating from the start and I loved the dual timelines. This book had its suspenseful moments that had me scared for Rose and on edge. I loved the secluded cabin setting and I think it’s so perfect for this time of year!

Not my cup of tea. Or my cup of Joe (my attempt at mixing up BrEng and AmEng).

Despite the odd glimmer (the ending, for instance), I cannot say that I was invested in the storyline or the characters who had few redeeming qualities. A tepid, predictable read that stretched the bounds of believability.

I will recommend this to students (YA readership) who will doubtless devour it.

I picked this for the author, I really enjoy Sarah Alderson’s writing style. I love that the blurb gives nothing away, this helps start with some anticipation and excitement. Hook, line, and sinker, I was addicted from the first paragraph! This story really got to me, amazing twists and unexpected turns! Suspense and mystery surrounding the main character in the cabin in the woods. Excellent thriller, don’t read more, just dive in!

The blurb said so little that I was immediately intrigued.

The Story:
There is a woman in the cabin. Who is she and why is she there? (I know it is nearly the same as the blurb, but can't say much without giving out spoilers.)

What I Liked:
1) The pacing was good. I wanted to know what came next and the story didn't let up for a second. A total pageturner.

2) The twists kept coming at unexpected times and I loved most of them.

3) The book addresses some of the dire happenings in the society around us effectively.

4) Dual timelines work well, usually. But in this story, the story is narrated in a non-linear fashion. The present time maintains its timeline while the flashbacks are of different times. At first, I thought it would be a problem but the author has maintained the timelines well enough to avoid confusion.

5) The main character, Rose, is a great character. In recent thrillers, the main character turns into an unreliable narrator because of alcohol/drugs. In this book, Rose becomes an unreliable narrator by simply withholding information. I didn't realize what an effective way of writing this was until I read this book.

What I Didn't Like:

1) Some of the twists were unbelievable and seemed too convenient.

2) There is another overused trope in the book, though if I say it, it will become a spoiler.

3) The title of the book is misleading, though not as misleading as The Woman on the Pier.

Final Thoughts:

If you are looking for an unputdownable book, this is the one you should pick. I enjoyed reading it as a fast-paced thriller.

I was hooked by the first page. I felt all the tension throughout the book . The story was over the top but that didnt matter for me. I really enjoyed it.

A really gripping thriller, eerie and full of suspense and will keep you turning the pages way past bedtime. I absolutely devoured it.

Unfortunately, I have been locked out of my netgalley account for a few months and was not able to see which books I had on my list, in order to properly read and review. I do apologize and am doing a 3 for neutral. Will update once I’m able to obtain a copy and read!

This is definitely an edge of your seat type thriller. The fast pacing and twisty suspense had me hooked. I have enjoyed every book I have read from this author and this is no exception. Sarah Alderson does an amazing job getting the reader to care and connect to the characters, which isn’t always the case in many thrillers.
