OMG this novel kept me glued to my Kindle, heart pounding in my chest, until the very last page. Keep an open mind with this book, because it will stretch your willingness to suspend your disbelief to the max, but the wild ride you’ll take with this story is well worth it. Stellar writing, terrific plotting, and great entertainment. I loved it! Highly recommended.

Friends like these was one of my favorite books of 2018 so I was thrilled to see this one come out. This was a page turner for sure. Rose is a young New York socialite who has disappeared upstate in the woods. We don’t know much more than that at first, but as the storyline jumps from past to present you become more engrossed trying to piece together the hints about why she is there and who is watching her.

The character building and the way you feel like you are with Rose really draws the story together as it takes some turns you won’t expect. I recommend this book for a day that you have time to sit down and do nothing else.

The Cabin in the Woods by Sarah Alderson is a haunting story of a woman going against the absolute power of a terribly force that may be connected to her past.
I unexpectedly learned some survival tips about frozen ponds & lakes & the thickness needed to be able to walk across, which I found so fascinating. Shoutout to the author for this knowledge!
Some of the logistics of the cop & investigation aspect of it felt unrealistic to me. Other times things just seemed a little far-fetched, but I still think it’s a good mystery.
This is a quick psychological thriller that at parts is absolutely heartbreaking. At other times, there were a few parts that just seemed like too easy to actually happen, but I think if you are just looking for an interesting thriller, this is an enjoyable read!

When I tell you I tore through this one – one of the better thrillers I have read this year, if not in the past few years. Could not wait to see what would happen but I did not want it to be over. Easy five

I really did not like this, unfortunately. I enjoyed The Weekend Away very much, it was bonkers and even when the main character was insufferably clueless, it was still a fun read. But in The Cabin in the Woods, I was bored out of my mind and was put into a slump after finishing it. I should have DNF-ed it when it became clear in the beginning that this was not going to be as fun a read as TWA, but I thought at least it would have a few twists that would make it all worth it in the end... but that didn't happen. Yes, there are a couple twists but they never feel worth it at all.

We get a dual narration, in one we know that the main character has escaped an institution where she was kept after having a breakdown, we know she committed a crime and we know it has to do with her husband, who's a bad man. She spends most of this timeline stressfully bumbling about with an infection in her arm. In the second timeline, she's meeting the husband, who's perfect (we know he's not) and does not realize he's the actual devil until Something Happens (I will not say what exactly, for spoiler reasons) and by then like, 75% of the book is over. We KNOW he's bad. I didn't care to watch their relationship in such slow motion.

The ending felt like the writer got tired of writing the book and decided to just quickly finish it by introducing a random new character who does 98% of the work and the ending does not feel very satisfying at all, just forced, overdone and boring.

This was a strong thriller! The beginning was a bit slow but I think the disorientation added to the drama of the present timeline. This reminds me of a fantastic 90s thriller movie with the husband/wife drama and kept me guessing. The two timelines worked well here and by 30% in I was hooked. The short chapters kept things engaging and this flew by. I also thought the end paid off and kept me on edge. Highly recommend!

Thoroughly enjoyed this one from start to finish. Twist and turns but never ridiculous, I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. I look forward to the next book from this author. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Great read , interesting unusual characters plenty of twists and turns with a gripping suspenseful storyline

This book was very addictive. I finished reading it in two days despite my busy schedule (would’ve finished in one sitting if I had time). But yeah I was really engaged in the story from start to the end and it kept me on the edge. I liked the book and many twists however it kind of started getting predictable at the end. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. Definitely a must read for the fans of gone girl.

Rose is hiding out in a remote, dilapidated cabin in the woods. She's clearly on the run - but who, or what, is she hiding from? Slowly, we learn the truth about Rose's eventful past - her childhood, her marriage to the wealthy Ryan - and how she's ended up where she is.

It's a good read with plenty going on, albeit all a bit implausible. There's not a great deal of character complexity going on here - the villain is just bad to the bone. Protagonist Rose is brave and resourceful and doesn't have any notable flaws beyond once having been young and naïve. But that's ok - sometimes a good old good vs. evil battle is all you need.

The "cabin in the woods" setting is well done and atmospheric- I definitely got a feel for the landscape.

I'm just going to keep this short and sweet because I don't have a lot to say about it.
I love cabin in the woods stories-It's one of my favorite troupes-and I will always read/watch a movie with this basic premise. Based on the synopsis and title, I was expecting something different. This story lacked creepiness and the unsettling isolated feeling I was expecting. I never really felt scared for Rose, but I was intrigued by why she was hiding out in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, the backstory was pretty generic. This book didn't add anything new or exciting, and I was unsatisfied.

I had previous read Alderson's other novel, The Weekend Away, and that's pretty much how I felt about it as well. She's just not a writer I enjoy. But if you've read her previous novels and enjoyed them, give this one a read.

What a pacy thriller. It was great very fast moving book, characters were Easy to engage with so storyline was enjoyable. Really had me hooked

What would you do to survive? Daisy & Rose always had each other growing up but that has all changed.once their father died. Rose met Patrick Reid & her whole life changed. She no longer had to worry about money or having food to eat. So when Daisy drops back into her life she hopes that things have changed. She is doing much better. But when Daisy leaves she knows that it is the last time that they will be together. But everything changes when she tries to leave Patrick after finding out about his dark horrible secrets. He isn’t the man that she wants to be around & their daughter deserves so much better. But their daughter Sienna is killed and Rose has no choice especially now that she has been blamed for her death but to disappear. She was lucky to have someone on her side that helps her to hide but now she has no choice but to let everything out in the open. Will they believe her especially that her ex is a reputable well known wealthy man?
A good thrilling read.

I requested The Cabin In The Woods on a whim, in the mood for an atmospheric thriller. This creepy, slow-burn mystery definitely hit the spot! Winter is closing in and we are thrown into an cabin deep in woods surrounded by an icy lake, hiding with someone consumed with the idea that they're being watched. All the creepy vibes. We quickly find out that this person is desperate, in hiding from police for unknown reasons and surviving by a thread.

We jump 22 years into the past, into the tragic childhood of scrawny sisters Rose and Daisy, practically starving, living in a tiny trailer with their drug addict father. Rose is constantly risking everything to protect her little sister Daisy. After many years of trauma and hardships, Rose finally gets her lucky break and walks into the life that dreams are made of....or is it?

A roller coaster of scandal, drama and heart pounding suspense follow. The mystery of who is in hiding in the remote cabin and how they got there unfolds in snippets of past, present and future.
I loved the atmospheric, survivalist chapters the most, but the suspense, juicy scandals and thrilling drama kept me reading all night! I can't wait to read more from author Sarah Alderson! Enjoy!

Wow! The Cabin in the Woods is the best thriller I’ve read to date. Alderson’s writing style flows so smoothly and keeps the reader engaged with every word. The chapters in this book alternate between the past and the present, and while I normally don’t prefer this style, Alderson did a wonderful job making it very easy to follow. The one thing I notice about most thrillers is that they’re often wrapped up very quickly in the last few chapters, but not this one! Alderson took her time telling the story and allowed the ending to have its moment. The only critique I have is that there were moments in the beginning that were overly descriptive. I can’t wait to read more of Alderson’s work after this. If you’re a fan of thrillers, I know you’ll love this book! A good thriller with a narrative that slowly reveals the plot in alternating timelines. The author has kept the book short thus maintaining a tight pace. The characters their behaviour and the transition are clear cut. I enjoyed it more than two of the previous books. Go for it

Sometimes when you start a book right from the start you just know it’s going to be a good one well this certainly was one of those and I loved it. Told from two timelines past and present it was a story full of twists which were clever and unexpected and the pages flew by I just couldn’t put it down. The main character Rose was so well written and as the suspense mounted she really came into her own and I liked her even more.
The story in someways is a sad one in parts and how Rose dealt with things came over well and I found myself really rooting for her.
So a fast paced read that I devoured in a day I really did enjoy it so much and if you like a thriller that you can set completely immersed in then this is the book for you.

The Stalker was one of my favorite books of 2021 and when I saw Alderson had another book publishing this year I could not wait to get my hands on it.

This book is thrilling, fast-paced, and a verified unputdownable. Fair warning: there's some pretty dark content. It did take me a little while to get fully invested in, but once I was in I was *all in.*

I for sure did not predict the way this one would go, and I always appreciate that in a thriller. I also enjoyed the past and present narrative and how all the pieces of the puzzle eventually came together.

The Cabin in the Woods will be on bookshelves in the UK July 7, and in the US October 18!

Being a huge fan of Sarah Alderson’s work since her YA novels I always look forward to reading her work, and can safely say that once again I have not been disappointed.

I thoroughly enjoyed the plot of this thriller and especially the seamless transitions from past tense to present. I felt that this really added to the suspense and kept me hooked and wanting to read on to uncover the truth behind the mystery. I also liked that the synopsis did not give away any of the story and so I had no expectations as to what Rose had been through and what to expect from each character. As someone who enjoys a ‘happy ending’ I liked the way that this book wrapped everything up at the end but still didn’t feel far fetched.

Once again Sarah Alderson writes a gripping novel with strong female characters whilst also tackling some thought provoking topics. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of thrillers, mysteries or even just a fast-paced read. This book is the perfect holiday read!
