Psychological thriller. A woman is hiding in a rundown cabin in the woods. Why is she there and what is she scared of? Flitting between the present and the past, all is gradually.revealed.
The plot rolls out fairly predictably but it is worth a read.

This was a solid mystery with a lot of suspense building as the story goes. You don’t know who to trust and why the main character is isolated in this abandoned cabin. It didn’t blow my socks off but it was good! Thanks to Avon Books UK for a free digital galley in exchange for an honest review!

Another great thriller by this author. I loved the way it is told in 2 timelines leading you to a crash of a finish. Lots of twists and turns and a perfect amount of characters. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.

A decent enough thriller. Well written and good character development Flipping between the past and present the story gradually unfurled . Reasonable tension.
I found myself not really liking Rose which was a bit of a problem (not that I was rooting for Ryan). Something didn't quite sit right. This might sound odd but I think the author "over manipulated her to fit.
Some parts towards the end were unbelievable (medical things and that's always a no no for me)
If I read "stomach churned", stomach twisted" "stomach in knots" once I read it numerous times- and please, please, please, can we have none of the ubiquitous "vomit/bile in the throat". It makes me feel sick!
Certainly worth giving the author another go.

This was so good, not even my usual genre but I loved it. I really enjoyed the use of past and present tense. The tension nicely built up throughout the book. Would certainly look out for this authors other works.

This was my first Sarah Alderson book and it won’t be my last.

The Cabin In The Woods is a fast paced suspenseful thriller that hooks you right from the start! Talk about a fairytale whirlwind romance gone wrong. This novel was told from one POV however it goes back and forth between the past and present which eventually come together. It was very well written.

I had this deep sympathy for Rose the whole book and really felt for her. How much can one person endure. We go back 20+ years and really get a glimpse of Rose’s childhood and what led her to her current predicament in the cabin in the woods where she is hiding. I really felt connected to her and felt what she was feeling.

I’ve also added all of Sarah Alderson’s books to my TBR! This was very well written.

Thank you to Net Galley, Sarah Alderson, and Avon Books UK for my arc copy in exchange for my review.

From the appealing cover design to the twisty storyline, this book is a winner. It’s not your typical thriller, so be ready for a fun ride. I hope to read more from this author.

Read this one over the course of a day and a half. Every time I put it down I would find myself picking it back up and saying just one more chapter. The story hooked me from the opening chapter: a woman hiding out in a secluded cabin the woods, paranoid that someone might be watching her, almost reluctant to run into town for supplies because…she’s worried the police might still be looking for her! Why are looking for her? What has she done? What’s her story? Author Sarah Alderson does a fantastic job, jumping back and forth in time, teasing out the details of Rose’s ordeal. It’s an excellent thriller with great characters and a gripping storyline. Thanks to Avon Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review an eARC of The Cabin in the Woods.

Wow! What an exciting book!
A woman is falsely accused of murder when her daughter dies in a car accident. Her DA husband, also a candidate for Governor, pulls strings to have his wife committed to a psychiatric facility, where she is drugged into oblivion, because she has knowledge and proof that her husband is actually a monster- a rapist.
Finding the opportunity to escape the facility, she hides out in a remote cabin, and plans revenge!
This was a fast paced, exciting books, with chapters alternating between “then” and “now”.
I gave it 5 stars!
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy!

This was everything you need for a thriller and crime story. It is not as black and white as you first think and like most typical thrillers, is full of twists. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

My thanks to Avon Books for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ by Sarah Alderson.

This is a fast paced domestic thriller that moves between the past and present and is narrated by Rose Reid, a young woman who seven and a half years ago married Ryan Reid, a member of the New York elite who was about to launch his political career.

In the present it is winter and Rose is injured, hiding out in a remote cabin in Upper New York State and is terrified of being found. We quickly learn that Rose had met Ryan while she was working as a waitress in a fancy restaurant and given her humble beginnings Rose is portrayed in the Press as a ‘rags to riches’ story.

Yet is it? It’s obvious that something had gone very wrong. Sarah Alderson slowly reveals Rose’s story building up the tension. There were a few elements that struck me as a bit ‘out there’ though many addictive soap operas portray improbable situations. So I set aside my quibble hat and enjoyed seeing how the story resolved. It proved satisfying.

Overall, the kind of domestic/psychological thriller that provided a few hours of escapism and was perfect as a summer read.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Minor Note posted to Goodreads and NetGalley only: at one point in the story the date of the US Presidential Inauguration is given as 012028, while the actual date for the inauguration of whoever wins the 2028 Presidential election held in November 2028 will be 012029.

A clever suspenseful novel full of twists that keep you engaged and wanting to find out more. The story gripped and intrigued me right from the first chapter. The plot builds, the suspense is tense and the ending is definitely not one you see coming.
I would definitely recommend this book to friends.

Who is the strange woman squatting in the old cabin in the woods. Where did she come from and what or who is she running from.
A brilliantly plotted thriller that will keep you reading till you get to the truth.
Superb storyline.

This was a wonderful book from start to finish. I was pulled in by the story and was compelled by the story line. It was very streamlined and moved very quickly. I did not know how it was all going to turn out and boy was it an excellent ending. There is nothing I would change in this novel. If you like your thrillers full of developments and suspense, character development, thrills and chills then this is the book for you. This was from a NetGalley copy.

The Cabin in the Woods by Sarah Alderson is a tense, and fast paced thriller from page 1. It picks up in the middle with Rose, injured and fearful of being found, hiding in an isolated cabin in the woods. The story is told in both flashback and present day, and each story is compelling as you try to figure out how Rose got here and how she will survive in the cold, unheated cabin.
I was glued to this book, even exclaiming "Oh no!" out loud at one point as I understood what was coming (I never do that!) Such a great read and I will be looking for more from Sarah Alderson.

Thanks to MacMillan Audio/Minotaur & NetGalley for providing an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

First of all let me say that I loved this book!
I was gripped from the first page to the last and I couldn't put it down, reading it in two sittings.
The reasonably short chapters really helped the plot to flow and at the end of each chapter I just wanted to keep reading on.
I found the writing to be engaging and the plot was fast paced. I liked the character of Rose and was fully on her side and invested in what was going to happen throughout.
An easy 5 stars!

I loved, LOVED, this book, Read through the entire thing in two days. The synopsis doesn't give much away, so I'll keep my review spoiler free and short, but I would definitely recommend the novel to fans of Behind Closed Doors, Verity and Gone Girl. The author kept me guessing and I never knew what direction the story was taking. Five stars and highly recommended to fans of psychological thrillers.

If you are after a psychological thriller that you will be hooked to from start to finish, then this is the book for you !!

Rose grew up having to fend for herself and look after her younger sister. She then met wealthy Ryan Reid and had a fairytale life - from rags to riches. But she is now living in a cabin in the woods, hiding from everyone and living on the basics - why has she ended up there ?

This is a book you will not want to put down, an absolute page turner !! It’s fast paced and there is a dull moment, you will find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat. Rose is a great character and you find yourself going through all the emotions with her. The story is told from the past and present, and the truth is revealed very gradually - some revelations you will just be staring open mouthed at !!

A fantastic psychological thriller that you really need to read, just make sure you have cleared the diary before you start !!

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for a digital copy of this book.

My first book by Sarah and she writes a fun (for me) psychological thriller.

3.5 for me.

I like the back and forth of the timelines and the definitely, most believable story.

Sarah's writing style is vivid with ample amounts of show and tell and I was very much immersed in the whole story.

This is a quick read with enough twists and turns to keep you engaged to smash this in a sitting or two.

Best read outside a cabin (next to a lake) eating rabbit stew.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books for an ARC in exchange for my review!
