Adrian is a new-to-me author, and I'm looking forward to what she has coming next in historical fiction! This was a lovely story of three women at Bletchley Park told in 2 points of view. The young women couldn't be any more different from each other, and yet they form a sisterhood of support as they work to break codes and try to sort their private lives while being bound by the secrets act. From Evie's joie de vivre to Lucy's colored stockings and Rose's out-of-the-box brain, I was carried along by the struggles of these women as they searched for what they really wanted out of life during a time of war. Four stars only because it felt as if the ending were a tiny bit rushed and I really wanted to see Rose's "gumption" moment on the page.

Fans of The Rose Code would also enjoy this story! I hope Adrian doesn't keep us waiting long for a new hist fic!

A novel about the code breakers at Bletchley Park during WWII told by two of the women who worked there doing that top-secret work. Evie and Rose, two girls from completely different social backgrounds but who become close friends. An enjoyable fairly easy read. Perfect for holiday reading.

The Bletchley Women sent in WW2 follows Rose a farm girl and Evie a society girl at Bletchley Park and how they help crack codes from the Germans. I have read other stories about Bletchley Park and this one I felt was a story that imparted how coding was done and how the information was passed to the right authority. I felt the pain the girls went through trying to convince workers that they deserved to be there and deserved to have a say. The story showed their frustration with co workers and family that did not take them seriously. I love reading and this book just reinforces why I read. Thank you for a well written nove.

This is a wonderful book for fans of WWII Historical Fiction! I've read a few books about the cod breakers during WWII and this one is definitely a favorite. It's full of a variety of women with different backgrounds who all worked together for a common cause.

During the war women found themselves in jobs they would never have dreamed of before but still they were distrusted only because they were women. Rose was a farm girl and her life path was to marry David, manage his family's shop and raise a family but when David joins the RAF she takes a job in Bletchley Park to be closer to him. When David is then moved closer to home she realizes that her job is important. Evie is wealthy, kind of spoiled and her father has her under his thumb. She also finds her way to Bletchley and along with Lucy and Rose work to decode messages sent by the Luftwaffe. I thought all the characters in this book were lovely. They all worked hard and long hours hoping to make a difference even though their supervisor did not like women and felt they couldn't do the work.

The story is told from the POV of Rose and Evie. Before Bletchley it was easy to tell whose POV I was reading but once they were together sometimes it was confusing. Lucy was quite a character and I would have liked to know more about her.

I loved this story and anything to do with Bletchley women and what they did for the war effort. The characters are real and the sacrifices they each make. Whilst this is fictional having read other books and watched tv series this book focuses more on the life’s of the characters as opposed to the code breaking however I did enjoy the book and would recommend

I love reading titles set in WWII, always learn more about this period in history. Love how these strong women, helped to keep the country going, when a lot of men went off to fight. Highly recommend.

I feel I have read a couple of other books about Bletchley and the women that worked there during WW2. This is my own fault for sticking to one genre in my reading choices.....and certainly not the authors.
What a frightening experience to arrive somewhere blindfolded and totally "in the dark" as to where you are. This experience for Rose sets the scene for a secretive and highly restricted job at Bletchley.
Rose Wiley and Evie Milton have been recruited to help the war effort. Brothers and boyfriends are doing their share , so why can't the females left behind. A way to contribute or a way to escape...whatever the reason. Both are from totally opposite ends of the socio economic spectrum. "The Blecthley Women" is a story of how we come together for a common cause....against the odds of male chauvinists and long hours of intense concentration.....and how seemingly ordinary people can achieve amazing things. And along the way find themselves, find those they love and make the best of friends.

Not for me. I tried but just didn’t get on with it at all. I don’t think I liked the start that much which unfortunately made it hard for me to get into it

I have always loved the history of Bletchley Park and the women code breakers in the war. This novel was so well written, and really held the audience and drew you in. Didn't want it to end.

I really enjoyed this book, i'm a great fan of any pre/post war books and this one did not disappoint.

I’ve read a number of books now which focus on the code breaking at Bletchley park. I wouldn’t say this book was as captivating as some others I have read however the storyline was still good.

There was less of a focus on the code breaking and intelligence than on the backgrounds and relationships of the women in the story. This book was also at a slower pace than others of a similar subject.

The story is a multi POV with Evie and Rose telling their stories. Rose is from a working class family with parents that expect her to marry her boyfriend David and look after the house and raise the children. Her aunt seems to be the rebellious one and encourages her to use her German skills for the war effort. This opens her eyes to a world of opportunities.

Evie is from the opposite end of the social spectrum. She is expected to marry well and to host lunches and participate in charity events. She enters Bletchley with selfish motives at first however again her eyes are opened to the possibilities and the mistakes that she has made and she tries her best to make amends.

A beautifully written novel set, as the title states, at Bletchley Park. Fascinating, captivating and interesting. I love Bletchley and although there have been other novels around this place, they are few in number, so it's still a great angle on WW2 in my opinion. The novel follows three young women who arrive at Bletchley and who form a great bond of friendship/sisterhood. They struggle to have their voices heard, and are constantly rebuffed by the men they work with, who will not acknowledge their useful suggestions for improvements.
The author has done an amazing research job and I couldn't stop reading! Great characters, good pacing, tension, and romance.

This is a great book, nothing taxing, but one where you can’t see how it will end. I loved the characters, although I would have loved to have known more about the others. I’ve been to Bletchley Park (well worth a trip) and felt like I was there. A great story, that I recommend.

Readers will enjoy immersing themselves in the lives of these deftly drawn, heartfelt characters.

I liked this book a lot. The women codebreakers at Bletchley came from different backgrounds, from wealthy families to farmer’s daughters. They were intelligent, spoke German, and they sacrificed friends and families to keep the project secret. They were also underestimated by the men around them. This was a good read, 4 stars.

The Bletchley Women title intrigued me. I have read many novels based in WWII and recently I have read several based in Bletchley. The novel is based on two English women from very different backgrounds. Both women’s lives were already mapped out until the war changes everything. Patricia Adrian does a wonder job of connecting the reader to both women, providing not only history of Bletchley but of how many people were important to ending the war as well as making it an enjoyable reading experience. The Bletchley Women by Patricia Adrian is the story of very two very different women - Rose and Evie - who end up at Bletchley Park together due to their knowledge of German. In a different life, Rose would have married and filled her home with children, just like her mother. Evie would have married an aristocrat to please her father, but their time at Bletchley changes everything.
I enjoyed a slightly different take on this WW2 Bletchley Park story, giving a voice to the women who worked there to crack the Luftwaffe codes.
