Juliana has a perfect life, but she is shaken when she receives a message from a girl from her past, who she thought was dead. Along with Juliana's old university friends, she tries to find out what is happening, and why they have all received a message from the dead girl. The past is explored and secrets are uncovered, but what will be found?

This is a great book, which I really enjoyed. The audiobook narrator did a great job, and the story was brought to life by her in a good way.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A really enjoyable listen told in the past and the present. Highlighted the problem of peer pressure kids experience and what they will do to ‘fit in’ A great storyline that had a big twist at the end

Good narrator who made the book easy to listen too

This books story line was enjoyable but not very unique. Im still glad I read it though. In fact I listened to the audiobook I did like the narrators voice but I found the characters voices were a little difficult to distinguish between. Which lead to a little confusion at times. This could be due to me lacking a bit of concentration aswell. I would definitely recommend the book over the audiobook though. This book is great slow building tension filled novel and I liked the twists and turns especially the ending as I didn't see it coming at all. Thos is a great All-round book. While listening to this book it reminded me of other books with a similar story lines. I would of liked a little more of a unique story-line and atmosphere for my tastes. I always say that this is just one person's review and I'm sure your views will be completely different so always download a sample of the book before you decide as many book websites offer samples. I must say I do like the book cover it definitely matches the story.

Many thanks to the author and publishers for creating a great All-round thriller.

Good read with some unexpected twists and turns. Knocked off one star as it was a little drawn out at times. I think it would appeal mostly to an audience in their 20s or 30s. Great narration.

This was an enjoyable enough thriller, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I read as a physical book as I struggled to keep up with the audio at times with it switching back and forth.

I have to be honest although this was OK as an audio listen this theme has been done to death
Think pretty little liars ,and this is a very similar theme
Friends from the "popular" pretty college girls gang share a secret from their college days and years later it looks like its come back to haunt them
Will the secret ruin their happy lives

Whilst this was enjoyable enough and Gad some twists and turns I did find it rather anti-climatic with “big reveal” at the end which I didn’t really find that exciting to be honest.

So this is one of those books that you quietly enjoy but are never going to shout about. I kept feeling like I had read it before but I definitely hadn’t. Still, if you want a dark entertainment this will do

I really enjoyed this one!
It opens with a bang and is super engaging.
The ending is also really tense and gripping.
However, I felt that part of the middle was a bit of nothingness and it could probably have been shorter.
I’d definitely recommend.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was brilliant.

Deadly Little Lies flicks back and forward between the past and present for a group of college friends who have a secret. The past lives on in the memories of those involved in a brutal action from the past, that can’t be undone. Jules and Jason have always known something stands between them, silently but surely poisoning their relationship. When Jules and her friends start receiving threatening text messages, they are forced to face the truth: that the past can no longer remain hidden.

I received this audiobook from the publisher, HQ Digital via The NetGalley. As I commute for over an hour each day, I thought I would put this time to good use and listen to some audiobooks. I chose ‘Deadly Little Lies’ because the synopsis appealed to me and I wasn’t disappointed: it was beautifully narrated and I enjoyed the plot and the characters.

This book follows Juliana Daniels (or Jules) who is married to Jason, works as an attorney in a prominent New York firm, and lives in Manhattan. Her life sounds perfect, but it isn’t.

Jules is harbouring a deadly secret which she concealed from her husband. One day she receives an email from an old college friend, Jenny. Jules is shocked because Jenny is dead… How can a dead person send an email?

Soon, more emails follow and Jules is forced to contact her old friends from college: Tori, Ness, and Emily. The four girls were inseparable, however, after what happened to Jenny, they haven’t kept in touch. They need to face the consequences of their actions on that fateful day.

The emails unsettle Jules and this has a negative impact on her personal life: her marriage is under strain, as Jason is convinced his wife is hiding something from him; and her boss asks her to lie and change details in a legal document.

The book is written from two time perspective: the present and the past. I liked the chapters that related to the past, because I was intrigued to find out what happened to Jenny. The reader (or in my case, the listener!) finds out how the girls considered Jenny a ‘tag along’, and later on, how manipulative and destructive Emily was.

I truly despised Emily, as we all know someone like her: sweet and beautiful on the outside, and rotten and deceitful on the inside. I must admit that Jules annoyed me a little bit at times – if it was me, I’d confessed it all to my husband sooner. I loved no nonsense Tori, she was my favourite character.

I thoroughly recommend this story – it’s a good psychological thriller.

Thank you to the publisher HQ Digital for accepting my request to listen to this story.

Audiobook Review
This was a solid thriller, but definitely started as a slow burn as I acclimatised to the narrator, characters and writing style, and also the dual timelines.
I love dual timelines but this one took some getting used to, but I'm not really sure why. Sometimes I wouldn't catch which time I was listening to so I missed some content.
There were a lot of characters, as I expected in a book about a high school incident, so the ending was a little less impactful for me.
The narrator started off rather monotonous but warmed to the role well later.
I love a gripping audiobook and with the right narrator (and time!), I can listen to the entire book in just a couple of days but this one didn't really keep my interest through its entirety.

Deadly little lies by Stephanie De Carolis.
Narrated by Norma Butikofer.
Some secrets are best left buried…
THE PERFECT LIFE
Juliana Daniels finally has the life she’s always dreamed of. A loving husband, a career as an attorney, and a cozy apartment in Manhattan to call home.
But when she gets a message from an old college friend, her blood runs cold. Remember me?
ONE DEADLY LIE
Juliana drops her phone as though she’s been scalded. The name Jenny Teller shines out from the screen… but Jenny can’t have sent that message.
Because Jenny is dead.
Juliana’s other college friends have all received the same message. The four of them are the only ones who know the truth about the night Jenny died. It’s a secret they have kept buried for fifteen years.
WHO DO YOU TRUST?
With ‘Jenny’ now blackmailing them and threatening to expose their secret, only one thing is certain. Someone else knows the truth about that night… or one of them is lying.
I listened to this audiobook. Very good. I liked the Narrator. Great story. 4*.

Storyline is told from 2 timelines “then” and “now”. Its described as an ‘edge of your seat’ thriller but for me it wasn’t that experience. It doesn’t stand out from other similar storylines and I’m not sure I’ll remember it in a week. About halfway through it picked up the pace but it took a long time to get there. I didn’t really care much for any of the characters and in particular the main character Jules I found really irritating at times. I found myself waiting for the big twist but it never really came. I had the outcome pretty much worked out but I did enjoy the summing up. I think the narration was perfect for this listen and I did like the authors style of writing and would be interested to read more of her work but this particular read didn’t engage me like I had hoped as I think it’s to similar to other reads.

2.5/5 🌟🌟/🌟

Deadly Little Lies by Stephanie DeCarolis Narrated by: Norma Butikofer was an Okay audio book. The story was great and enjoyed it, However, I found Norma Butikofer the narrator very boring and she just droned on and on!!! Sadly I did not not like her as the narrator. Shame though as It was a good one.

This will not put me off reading or listening to other books by Staphanie.

Big thank you to NetGalley and HQ Digital for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

You can run from your past, but you can't hide...

"Deadly Little Lies" is a thrilling story about secrets, lies, frenemies and all the stupid stuff you did when you were young.
But some secrets are bigger than others - and what if someone from your past knows about your secret... Just how far are you willing to go in order to keep the secret from getting out?

This was a great story - but a rather slow starter. It took about 3 hours of the audiobook before I was hooked, but from that point on it was intense.

Great narration in the audiobook version.

Julianna Daniels is living the life she always wanted. Then she receives a message that changes everything. The message is from an old college friend, an old college friend who died.

She must now reconnect with people that she had left behind, she really doesn't want to be that person again, she really doesn't want her husband to discover anything about the person she used to be.

I really enjoyed this audiobook, I think that we all know girls who were Julianna. Sometimes the only way to be happy in your life is to deal with the mistakes of your past, whatever you consequences.

Juliana is a married lawyer and living the dream. However, she receives an email from Jenny, a college friend. But Jenny is dead. Blackmail begins and lies are unearthed.

I did feel like 'Deadly Little Lies' was a bit of a slow-starter but there was a lot of scene to set. Once the plot got going it was hard to stop listening. The narrator, Norma Butikofer added more tension and drama to the book. It really helped build suspense. I did find it a little predictable but it didn't stop me from enjoying it. It is a satisfying read and a good psychological thriller.

Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins Audio and Stephanie DeCarolis for an audio ARC in return for an honest review.

Gripping and suspenseful dual timeline story of secrets and lies amongst friends with privileged and seemingly perfect lives. We follow Jules through the ups and downs as she starts college and unexpectedly makes friends with the "in crowd", and to the present day where the group find themselves being stalked and blackmailed, by someone they thought was dead. Is the blackmailer one of them? Or has someone else somehow found out what they did all those years ago?
