Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with this arc in exchange for my honest review.

It's been a while since I liked a YA novel so much. There were some parts I dazed out on but overall, loved every other aspect.
This book seemed like a crossover between Seven Days in June and Just Listen. The way all the side characters are SO supportive is ABSOLUTELY amazing.

loved loved loved

easy reading, fun, almost like a modern retelling of these old school classic love stories we have all heard.

Really standard tropes that you see in these kinds of books and it absolutely worked.
Loved all the characters and was rooting for them

Loved the musical references

Prince Jones is passionate about music and romance, dishing out relationship advice on his Love Radio show. But his own love life is looking kind of quiet...until he meets Dani Ford. Dani isn't checking for anybody. She's focused on her plan to move to New York City to become a famous author, and avoiding dealing with what happened at that party a few months ago. When the two meet, sparks fly - but Dani's not looking to get derailed. So she gives Prince just three dates to convince her that he's worth falling for...

I won’t lie, at the beginning, when Dani started listing why she didn’t like romance and every single romance trope calling them problematic and simple, I was worried I wasn’t going to like it, because I love myself a romance trope 😍 but I quickly warmed to her the more I read on. It’s a dual POV story and I loved hearing from Prince too, especially his home life, he’s such a wholesome wonderful teenager!

It’s a fantastic coming of age story. I won’t lie, I didn’t feel loads of actual romance vibes in it, but it is a YA romance, so maybe I thought that because it’s obvs not as full on as some of my previous more steamy romance reads 😂 but I did love how good for each other Dani and Prince were, they really helped each other grow. Plus, they planned some beautiful dates for each other!

This one is definitely for music lovers, those who love writing, and a little bit of romance while covering some more serious topics too such a long term illness and trauma.

This book was beautiful. So beautiful, and complex and moving and Oh God, I loved it so much. It wasn’t just a love story with happy ending. It was a book about growing up, finding yourself in the world, dealing with situations we have no control over, how much it means to have a support system when we’re hurt and how finding love not only for others but for ourselves can change our lives.

The book also deals with the issues regarding identity, especially what does it mean to be a black teenager in today’s world, but also celebration of it in many different ways, like hair and music. I loved all the mentions of incredible black artists that inspired the main characters and the hair show at the end of the book.

The author also talks about cultural appropriation throughout the whole book and I have to admit, it made me think about the language I’m using. As I’ve learned today, my daily vocabulary includes many AAVE words, which I genuinely thought are just slang (I’m not a native English speaker). I will try to unlearn and stop using AAVE and I urge every non native English speaker to check if you’re also not using it just because you learned English from the internet.

Lastly, I would like to mention the best character in the whole book, the most amazing, romantic, supportive and caring boy on the planet- Prince Jones. F**k all the mafia men booktok loves to talk about, Prince is the boyfriend we all wanted when we were 17 and I’m pretty sure as an adult he would be the man we all want as a husband.

I have no words to describe how much I enjoyed reading this amazing story. Thank you so, so much NetGalley for giving me an opportunity to read this book and THANK YOU Ebony LaDelle for writing it ❤️❤️❤️

I found this book too cheesy for my taste. Some of the phrasing made me cringe. It's somewhat to be expected for a story focused on high school romance, but just not my cup of tea.

It was an easy read, lighthearted overall with a cute storyline - guy and girl have three magical dates together, while balancing the other struggles that life throws at them. It also deals with some deeper issues such as sexual assault.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

I did not get into this unfortunately so put it down and never picked it back up again. Sadly not for me

I really enjoyed this!

Both Dani and Prince were instantly likeable, with their individual passions and lives.

I thought it was a little difficult to get into at the start, as it almost felt like a sequel - like there was vital information missing, that you should already know. This was particularly the case with Dani's secret, where it didn't feel like something you'll find out later but more like being lost.

I was impressed with how mature this turned out to be, with the depth of the characters, with the way the relationships were portrayed - whether it was friendships, romantic or familial love, it was all so wonderful.

It also didn't feel like a typical love story, but so much more, where a connection is formed between two people who are still getting to know not just each other, but themselves.

I also absolutely loved how much detail the author went into when it came to music, books, identity, the things Black people have to deal with - like Prince trying to find books for his little brother with people who look like him, the cultural appropriation with fashion etc.

The ending was sweet and fit perfectly with Dani and Prince's characters and their entire journey. This really was a great story of two young adults falling in love.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of "Love Radio" by Ebony LaDelle.

I was so excited by the concept of this book and since I knew a friend who raved about this, I knew I had to read this. However, I loved the book but I felt that the romance aspect fell short. I loved both the protagonists but I didn't get attached to their love story.

This was just okay for me. It wasn’t terrible by any means but it just didn’t work for me. I was interested in the plot & really enjoyed the story to some degree. I loved how the 3 dates were drawn out that worked for me. But somewhere the book just fell flat for me & I was bored.

Beautifully written, an easy to dive into read, following a gorgeous couple, Dani and Prince as they navigate teen to adulthood.

Perfection.

This is a cute powerful story with a sweet narrative. It is well-paced and easy to read and whilst I didn't adore it was a great read and I can see how amazing it's going to be for many readers.

I also think the cover is great and suits the story perfectly.

Absolutely adorable book with a rare depiction of healthy, wholesome relationships.
The 2 main characters, Dani (fabulous name lol) and Prince, have a sweet chemistry but felt more like best friends that anything more. Yes, there were moments between them, but not as intense as I’m use to.
The vernacular, at the start, threw me a little, but I’m old, so probably understandable.

It is a fantastic book, but for me, definitely on the Y of a YA book.

I. AM. IN. LOVE.

i had so much fun reading this! a love story about two unapologetically black characters? it had me in TATTERS.
not only did this book intrigue me, but it also had me smiling at nothing while i was at work.

i loved how each character was their own person and had their own voices.
with prince, from the beginning, we see how hard-working and compassionate he is. not only does he care about his friends, but the way he cares for his mum and his little brother? my. heart. i was backing him from the jump. i mean, what kind of teenage boy thinks the way he does? he's my dream man, for sure.
i thought dani would get overshadowed by how bright and out there prince was written, but that was not the case. she's such a beautiful, complicated character and i enjoyed how strong her voice was even when she doubted herself. my dani girl, i would fight God for her, for real.

Ebony LaDelle's pen game is off the chains! i can't wait to see what else she has in store for us. because i'm so ready to eat everything she serves!

So I LOVED this book. Where do I even start? It’s about Prince and Dani, two teens finishing high school and each with their own successes and struggles. Dani has a comfortable home life, although misses her military Dad when he’s away on operations. She is super focused on being a writer and inspired by a plethora of strong female characters who wrote, BUT has writer’s block and after an incident at a party has become a recluse shutting out even her best friends.
Prince is a successful DJ who also gives out relationship advice and who dreams of making it big time. But the role he’s taken on to help run and finance the household and look after his younger brother for his MS stricken single mum is affecting his grades and prospects. But then again, what’s the point of being accepted at a great college if he can’t leave his mum to fend for herself?

Prince has always fancied Dani, Dani has never given him a glance as she is too focused on her career, but maybe Prince is what she needs to get over her writer’s block and maybe Dani is what Prince needs to make him realise that his dreams and ambitions can be pursued.

In the three dates that Dani gives Prince to win her over we get the chance to explore the lives of these two teens as they navigate the end of high school and taking the big step of independence by moving away to college. I liked the fact that both teens come from loving homes with parents who are supportive; that we get to see the details of their lives, how they view their world and what is important to them. Both are decent well adjusted individuals struggling with challenges that a lot of young people can identify with. For us white people, we get some insights into frustrations of unintentional racism e.g. Prince can’t find picture books with children with dreadlocks in them. Dani’s friend is frustrated that white people have adopted certain looks with hair and nails which are now ‘cool’ although people of colour have used and dominated creativity in this area for years.
I think that a lot of teens can identify with Dani and Prince and it is refreshing to see how there is a growing diversity in the backgrounds of authors currently being published. Well done Usborne for finding Ebony LaDelle. Definitely a brilliant read.

Thank you NetGalley for this book. Love Radio was enjoyable and the love story I needed to read!
I liked the characters and the fact that I didn’t have to focus too much on the plot since it was kept simple and relatable. This lighthearted story about falling in love as a black teenager made me understand how important it is for black love to be
well-portrayed, especially because I don’t always get to see it and read about it.

Being a white woman in her late-twenties, I feel like this story wasn’t necessarily meant for me, but I liked it nonetheless. The only thing that made it harder for me was the fact that English isn’t my first language (I’m from Italy) and many dialogues threw me off sometimes. I believe AAVE was used and although I found it perfectly on point, it made it difficult for me to focus on the story, especially when someone said “whaaaat?”.

I didn't know what to expect from this book but it is exactly the kind of story I really enjoy. It was a wholesome YA romance focused on people of colour and I really love reading these books. Most stories about people of colour revolve around trauma which is valid but sometimes it is nice to just read something light and happy. Love Radio was exactly that. The romance was completely adorable and I just loved seeing the characters interact with one another.
