this was such a heartwarming black coming of age story. i enjoyed so many things about it:

- the friendships and family dynamics were everything
- i loved how authentically black it was. the hairstyles, the romance references, the friendship dynamics, the dialect. and none of it felt forced.
- prince was so mature i loved him (perhaps a little too mature; it took me out of the story sometimes, but that’s probably just my age showing lmao)
- the discussions surrounding familial disabilities, sexual assault, finding and accepting yourself, and graduating high school were all incorporated so seamlessly

i could’ve done with a little more palpable chemistry between prince and dani. we weren’t really shown much of their connection (which i’d expect in a romance)

overall a really great coming of age story, featuring black characters that you’ll love.
thank you sm to netgalley and simon & schuster for me e-arc

I got about 30% into this book and decided to DNF it. There's nothing wrong with this book and I think it's going to be important to other readers, so I didn't want to finish it and give it a bad review. It's just decidedly not for me - the tone of the book pulled me out of the story, and while it had its cute aspects, it was just not working for me.

One of the best YA books I’ve read in a long time. Romance is definitely a big part of it but at the heart of it is a really powerful, black coming of age story. I loved this so much.

Thank you to the publisher for my digital ARC.

Love the book! This was totally my type. I am not a in a relationship but this sort of story makes me want to be one.

The growth of the characters were amazing. I love the story,I love the characters. I was laughing way too much at the story, at the encounter of both protagonists. Also, love how the playfully raised some strong issues and gave a pov to that.

I genuinely think that this is one of the better Y/A romance novels I have read. One of the few books that has made me laugh out loud. making me appear like a giggling, blushing school girl. I really do recommend this book if you're big on romance novels as it was an incredibly fun and enjoyable read.
