Steph is living on her own since her husband left her after a long marriage. Her children have moved out as well so she has plenty of time to ponder about her life.
But mor and more strange things happen around her house. Sometimes she even feels like not being on her own.
As she doesn't want to be alone all of the time, she rents out to Noah, a young man. By the way, she also can use the money to keep her house. So all her problems seem to be solved. Or not? Not at all.
I have to confess that I had troubles to connect with Steph. I can not point my finger on it but all in all this is a solid thriller!

Thank #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the ARC

edit: I was lucky to being also aprooved the audio version of this book. As I listened to the story I suddenly could perfectly connect with Steph
Thanks #Bookouture Audio, Bookouture

Steph is living on her own for the first time in 30 years. Her husband just left her, but she is determined to make things work. As soon as she seems to get a good groove going, weird things start to happen at night - noises that seem to be coming from inside her house, windows seem to open by themselves. Steph thinks getting a lodger might be the best way to keep her home, independence, and safety. But someone is determined to frighten her out of her home, and they won't give up so easily.

This is my first novel by Rona Halsall, and I enjoyed the ride. It was a bit of a slow burner, but it picked up once we got a sense of the characters. Halsall twists were well-plotted, and I was invested in Steph's journey.

The Guest Room is a compelling, fast-paced thriller. I listened to the audiobook produced by Bookouture Audio and narrated by Emma Gregory. She did a fantastic job with her narrative. She kept me engaged throughout the whole book.

I really enjoyed this book, especially in an audio format. It's the perfect type of thriller audiobook because it's easy to follow and the story is interesting.

I liked the main character, Steph, because she's not overly gullible like some of the female characters are written in thriller books. Does she make the right choices? No, but she figures it out...eventually.

The narrator really enhanced the audiobook experience because of the different voices she used for other characters.

This is my first book by Rona Halsall. I plan on checking out more! Thanks for the advance review copy.

Steph is really a sad woman, divorced. Children not there. She gets company but there are so strange thing going on. The story is not nice and I hardly enjoy any of the character. The narration was nice but I am sorry I could not enjoy more. The ending was well wrapped.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture audio for this ALC.
