With thanks to the author, publishers Norwood House Press, and NetGalley, for providing me with a digital ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

This book offers a very comprehensive introduction to the popular game of Monopoly, for young and old. The history of the game and its variety of playing pieces down through the years, as well as the overview of the different versions available, was all new to me and very interesting, while the book also gives some good pointers on how to play the game successfully and features a recurring 'Did You Know' section giving interesting pieces of trivia about the game.

All in all, an educational and fun read!

- worldwide fans and championships
- and much more!

Five stars. Lots of fun.

I really loved Monopoly by Mari Bolte! Monopoly gives the reader a brief history of the game, how it’s evolved, and looks forward to it’s future. As a huge Monopoly game fan and game collector of many Monopoly versions, I learned many facts that I have never knew before. I also learned many tricks on how to play the game of Monopoly well. For children, Monopoly is a great introduction to teach them about the game. If you are a fan of the game Monopoly and collect many versions of Monopoly like I do, the. I highly recommend Monopoly by Mari Bolte. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.

This is a colorful, fact-packed little book that gives a nice overview and history of Monopoly, from its creation by Lizzie Magie as "The Landlord's Game" in 1904 to modern-day variations and alterations of the beloved game. A great gift for young Monopoly enthusiasts as well as those new to the game!

Monopoly has been my favorite board game since I was a child. I never win (and I'm not kidding when I say never) but I love to play anyway. My love for the game has even expanded into buying several of the Monopoly variants; Metallica, Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer, Back to the Future, Zelda, and even the Friends edition.

I really enjoyed learning the history behind the game. The origins are interesting, sad, yet typical for women. The book describes the game's rules and features. There are also "Did you know?" facts and information. The WWII facts were eye-opening and nothing I'd ever heard about prior to reading this book.

If you are a lover of Monopoly and love learning history and facts, this book is right up your alley. I recommend it for game players, collectors, and anyone who loves to learn new things.

Pretty decent look at Monopoly, even if to my tastes it concentrates too much on the modern years when the franchise has broken out into a gazillion weird variants. But here in a brisk telling are the formative years, when rip-offs and cheats were pressing up the game boards and cards and currency, and the steady success it has gone on with since, leading up through being a Macdonald's promotion to the delay of the 2021 World Championship. The book is definitely child-friendly – each spread has a full-page image with small caption, and even a box-out on every text page to liven things up. If you want to get the young thinking about the game, this is probably the one and only place you need to go, which certainly is in keeping.

This book is awesome! It gives all of the background information about Monopoly including: how to play, the history of the game including who created it and how it became popular, interesting tips and tricks, cool facts and anything else you might need to know about the game. Using pictures, text boxes and other non-fiction text features, this book is set up for readers to learn and research. It would be a great high interest book for reluctant readers and a great chance to introduce readers to non-fiction texts. As a Grade 3 teacher I would 100% recommend this book to other teachers in this grade level and I'm excited to check out the rest of the series! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book!

There is a good example of what it is like playing the game to start the book. It gives the history, basics, has a did you know section. This could be used for text features in an elementary classroom because it has bolded words, captions, and side bars. I think kids would enjoy this book.
