One last secret is a unique, fast paced thriller that will suck you in and keep you hooked right to the end!

It is told largely from Dora’s point of view and the writing style really draws you in.

The storyline is fairly outlandish but I was hooked and really enjoyed trying to work out if Dora was an unreliable narrator or if she was telling the truth…

The twists keep coming and one in particular was jaw dropping as the twist about to be revealed hit me.

My only question is with the epilogue. I can’t work out if this is a brilliant extra twist to fully mess with your head, or if it is an unnecessary twist too far that detracts from an already twisty book…I just don’t see the motivation for it from the character. I think without this extra twist it would have been a clear 5 stars.

I found this an addictive and pacy read. Most of the novel is told from Dora’s point of view and right from the beginning, she’s a most engaging character. It feels as though a close friend is telling you the story! Dora is an escort who takes on one last job in the South of France before getting married. She’s resilient and resourceful but doesn’t always make the best choices. Sometimes it’s hard to read what has happened to her and you can’t help but feel that she deserves some luck and hope that her life will turn out well in the end. There are lots of twists and turns, and it’s a great summer holiday read.

A twisty and gripping domestic thriller, it's fast paced and I had a lot of fun even if it's a bit far fetched at times.
It's always a hit or miss for me with Adele Parks and this was a hit.
Well plotted, gripping, highly entertaining.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Domestic middle class thrillers will always have a good market. Love all her books, never fail to be a good reliable read, and easily pictured as a channal 5 thriller over 5 nights. The setting is the South of France, and its a tale of power, money and revenge. It will have you gripped.

I usually like this author’s books but this one was definitely missing something for me. It was improbable in many parts that I just did not believe the characters choices. I would read her next offering as her previous books were good.. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

A fascinating and, at times, disturbing read. Adele does it again with a strong book with many twists and turns to keep the reader guessing with almost two endings, one I didn't foresee. A real Me-Too book with some scenes that do make difficult, but necessary, reading.

Phew! What a fast paced story!

One Last Secret really grabs you and sweeps you along at a pace. I perhaps enjoyed the first part of the book and the build up/ getting to know the characters more than the second half where things become a little tangled, but It's still a classic Adele Parks extravaganza.

Yes, it's a bit far fetched, but you only have to turn on the news to see that that's where we are now. It reminded me of the Sidney Sheldon book, If Tomorrow Comes, which I loved many years ago. A fab similar vibe.

Thank you to NetGalley and to HQ for the opportunity to read this advanced copy.

It’s been a while since I’ve read one of Adele Parks books - why? Flipping good question as this was a great read. Written largely from Dora’s POV apart from some small parts by other characters, and in two timelines, three if you count the epilogue. This is a gripping, dark domestic thriller with a good plot line and a great cast of characters. Dora was a real difficult character - at times I felt really sorry for her and at others wanted to shout at her why did you put yourself in that position!

Briefly, after being badly beaten by a client high class escort Dora has accepted an offer of marriage from her best friend and has handed in her notice. However, whilst her fiancé is away she has accepted one last job; to pretend to be the girlfriend of a former client when he visits friends in France. But this was a bad decision as from the off all the other guests, and the hosts, seemed to be treating her strangely, and she found herself forgetting things she had done and said. Can she get away from the château and home to her fiancé before anything worse happens?

Quite an intense read and there were occasions when I began to wonder if anything was going to happen then wham! The tension and the suspense was palpable. I also thought this was going to be a straightforward plot, oh no it’s not. Twists and turns kept me guessing and although I guessed one of the big turns the why was way out. A really good read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved this! It was so gripping, right from start - but it really heated up towards the end. There were so many unexpected twists and turns and just when I thought we were done with them, WHAM, there was another!
A brilliant, compelling read.

One Last Secret by Adele Parks
I give this book 4.5 stars

One last client
A week at a beautiful chateau in the south of France – it should be a straightforward final job for Dora. She’s a discreet escort and Daniel has paid for her services before.
One last chance
It will be a last, luxurious look at how the other half lives, before Dora turns her back on the escort world and all its dangers. She has found someone she loves and trusts.
One last secret
Dora finds herself face to face with a man she has never forgotten, it becomes terrifyingly apparent that the one last secret could cost Dora her life…

I love this authors books and was excited to read the newest addition.
The opening lines sucked me straight into this absolutely gripping domestic noir thriller. Two sittings and l was done! Adele is an extremely talented author and the plot was well written and intense. An absorbing past and present storyline about sex, power and control pulls no punches. The twists and turns as the story unfolds will make you gasp out loud.l loved how it felt like Dora was talking directly to me and the lots of unlikable side characters added to my unease and distrust.
Go grab your copy of this sizzling and shocking summer must read!
With thanks to Netgalley, Adele Parks and HQ for my chance to read and review this book.

I can’t believe this is the first Adele Parks book I’ve read! I was gripped from the start, a real page turner of a read. I’m in awe of the author’s fabulous story telling ability.

Unlike some other reviewers, I actually liked the last chapter. The only reason I am deducting a star is because I couldn’t buy into why Dora, the protagonist, took one last escort job. She had just got engaged to the most lovely and incredibly wealthy man and the reason for her to go back on her promise didn’t feel strong enough. However, the story and it’s characters were so compelling I was happy to suspend my disbelief and enjoy all the suspense and twists that unfolded afterward.

One Last Secret by Adele Parks is a marvellous contemporary psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat. It is a compulsive read that I could not put down.
The reader enters a world that is shady and secretive. All sorts of people are hiding who they really are. It is a world of secrets and lies, play acting and imagination.
The reader joins a character in this world as we wonder what is real? What is imagined? Can what our eyes see and our ears hear be trusted? A character finds herself unable to trust her senses.
As the action heats up, the reader is completely glued as one jaw dropping moment follows another, and another! As I finished the book, my mouth was open in an ‘Oh! Wow!’
All the characters were well drawn. I liked the leading lady. It was easy to see how and why she chose her choices even if they were not always wise. She did what she could in order to survive.
As with all Adele Parks novels, One Last Secret was a complex, well thought out and executed plotline that gripped me from the start. It was another marvellous offering from Adele Parks.
I received a free copy from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

Dora is an escort and after a particularly brutal encounter , her best friend Evan asks her to give it all up and become his wife which she agrees to. The problem is what will they tell his parents who are extremely rich and have connections in high places? Dora ends up agreeing to one last job for an old client in the South of France the problem is she doesn't know who else is going to be at this chateaux or why she is actually there! You end up screaming at her to get out. will it be too late when she realises what she's got herself into? And just what is her back story? Who is it who has the last secret? The twists and turns will keep you guessing and the ending is surprising!! Hope there will be a sequel!

Many thanks to the publishers and Net galley for letting me read this and will be recommending to friends and family a definite summer read!

I loved the character of Dora and happily raced through the first third of the book. The second part, where we understood why she is an escort was very well written too, but the last part at the villa was just too far fetched and drawn out, so I lost momentum a bit. Felt the epilogue was unnecessary too, unless there is going to be a sequel?

Dora is an escort but after a nasty encounter with a client her best friend Evan urges her to give up and marry him. She agrees but is asked to do one more job for a client who she knows quite well. A week at a Chateau in France. Dora agrees as it's an easy job.
What could possibly go wrong?
Dora is narrating this and it hooks you in from the word go. She is a strong character who knows are own mind. I loved that about her.
Half way through we go back eleven years to where it all began. I felt like I was reading a different book. Dora had a very tough life. Obviously we had to find out her back story to understand how her life changed.
There were plenty of twists and turns to keep me engaged. This is a really pacy book as I couldn't guess what the outcome would be.
Thanks to Netgalley and HQ for the ARC in return for an honest review.

I love Adele Parks books and this one was no exception. The main character Dora is a high class escort, she has decided to give it up after finding love but has taken on one last job spending a week in France at a chateau pretending to be the girlfriend of an ex client Daniel.

I became entangled in Dora’s story. One minute I was feeling sympathetic towards her and the next angered at her choices. As I found out more of her story I was moved by how she arrived at her life choices.

When Dora arrived at the chateau the story took a harrowing twist and I was screaming at her in my head to get out of the situation. The writing was first class holding my attention and making me want to read more. The plot was clever, very well written and full of twists and turns.

The final twist is one which took me by surprise and tied up all the loose endings which I had experienced throughout the book.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this unique page turner one to add to your summer reading list.

Love a good Adele Parks story and this one is perfect for the beach! Loved story and the pace it’s been written! As always many twists and turns before getting to the end.

Its main plot wasn't something that I expected to be but in the end I enjoyed it. I liked the characters and the plot and that it was fast-paced and not full of unnecessary details. The ending was good too, though now I want a part 2 of the story.

Adele Parks' thriller domestic noir novels have been becoming progressively darker and complex with each new book. The Two of Us gave us a heroine who was also a bigamist - with One Last Secret she pushes the boundaries again. Dora is a high-class sex worker who is ready to quit. But one last job with an old client in the south of France brings shocks and surprises, and puts her in very real danger. Can Dora survive and turn her life around?
This was a real page turner. Dora is a very cool and honest narrator, unashamed of her choices but willing to explain them to the reader. Of course she is keeping some secrets, which all adds to the suspense, but the reader feels they can trust her, and more importantly, empathise with her, even if her life choices wouldn't be theirs.
The plot is somewhat far-fetched if you start analysing it, but Dora is such an interesting character I was willing to roll with it. It's well-paced with chapters taking you back to the past for a breather, and secrets unfolding at a satisfying rate.
As always with an Adele Parks' story, expect plenty twists and turns and a very satisfying conclusion.
