Lᴏᴠᴇ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇ Bʀᴀɪɴ ʙʏ Aʟɪ Hᴀᴢᴇʟᴡᴏᴏᴅ

Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project-a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia-Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. And sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school-archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.

Bee is convinced that Levi hates her, after all in grad school he couldn’t stand being near her, didn’t talk to her, wouldn’t even look at her, he has to hate her, right? Right??!!!
Another fantastic, fun and sexy read from the genius of romance books Ali Hazelwood.
I loved this book and Bee and Levi. Bee reminded me of me a lot! I also cry when I see roadkill and start imaging that Daddy badger won’t make it home to the wife and kids 😢 yes I’m way too empathetic and dramatic!
The romance is lovely, the steamy scenes are fun and it left me with my heart warmed.
I still hold Adam and Olive as my No 1 couple but only just.
Read it if you loved The Love Hypothesis, and if you didn’t, you’re not fun 😝
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 outta this world 🌎 🧑🏻‍🚀
Huge thank you to @netgalley for my advanced copy 💜

Love on the Brain absolutely lives up to the hype of the love hypothesis! If you like enemy's to lovers and space science you'll love this book. The characters were perfect and I just want to read more and more about them. I love smart women and Bee was the perfect mix of smart with personality. My favourite part of Levi was his heart and how much he cared for Bee. There was the perfect balance of science, sweet, and spicy that made Love on the Brain 5 stars. I can see it being the next #booktok craze.

Thank you so much to Penguin & NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

I am convinced that Ali Hazelwood can do no wrong. After reading the Love Hypothesis earlier this year I wasn’t sure how she was going to top it but WOW.

I devoured this book in less than a day, I really couldn’t put it down. The characters were relatable and loveable, I adored each and every one of them. The romance was beautifully written but didn’t detract from the very real issues women in STEM face every single day.

The plot had me hooked from the get go and I really did not see that final twist coming! I had my ideas but I audibly gasped when it came to light what had happened.

The resilience Bee shows throughout the whole story is admirable and shows her dedication to her field. She is an excellent role model to any aspiring young scientist and one I am thrilled young women will be able to read about.

This, in my book, is the perfect romance. A must read.

Sadly this fell a bit short for me, partly due to the hype for the first book and partly simply because of a difference in taste. I can see many people enjoying this, but I couldn't quite gel with the writing style.
An easy enough read, but not quite my favourite. Alas, I can see many others enjoying this, particularly fans of the first one.

From start to finish, this was great fun. Bee has just landed her dream job, a collaboration with NASA working on the production of something incredibly innovative, but her co-partner is Levi Ward, the one person in her graduating class that couldn’t stand her.
At the outset, things are awkward. Bee and Levi are clearly very good at their respective jobs, have other people eating out of their hands but can’t seem to manage to speak to each other without one of them taking offence. Naturally, we know that this is guaranteed to mean they’re made for each other and just have to work it out.
There were a few strands that distracted from the main thread on occasion, but this contained everything you’d expect from Hazelwood. Both main characters were very cute in their interactions, and while I found the mail element obvious it did lend a little unexpected twist to the latter stages as they worked out who was behind the problems they’d been having.
Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this early in exchange for my review. Now to see which of the back catalogue I can find in my library…

After absolutely devouring The Love Hypothesis, I was ecstatic to be given an arc for this MUCH anticipated book (Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group (UK)!!). I was instantly in love with Ali Hazelwood’s style and character portrayals and was left wanting more more MORE! I was not left disappointed by Love on The Brain. It is everything Hazelwood is good at, and better. (Go girl, give us EVERYTHING)

This story centres around Bea - a neurotic neuroscientist suffering from the long-term effects of a broken heart, as she begins work on the neuro-engineering project of her dreams, just with the work partner of her nightmares. Eager to impress and prove the science-bro mansplainers wrong, she perseveres, and an unlikely alliance ensues.

This is in no way related to the events of The Love Hypothesis, but those who loved it as much as I did, will enjoy the parallels and similarities that could become Hazelwoods trademark. No complaints from me in that subject, these tropes and quirks are a rom-com novels bread and butter!

I was grinning from ear to ear at moments, curling my toes in horrifying second hand embarrassment at others. With a good helping of enemies to lovers, a sizeable dollop of miscommunication, this turns out to be another gem from Hazelwood that might just be my favourite Rom-com of 2022.

Oh my goodness. Didn’t think it was possible to love Ali Hazelwood anymore than I already did. This author has the absolute perfect recipe required to make the perfect chicklit novel: enemies to lovers, steam, sultry attractive dark haired scientist, NASA, women in STEM being badass. We love to see it. A must read!

The Love Hypothesis was one of my favourite books of 2021 so I was a little worried Love On The Brain might not live up to my expectations. I’m soo glad to report that not only did it live up to those expectations, it surpassed them entirely!

Ali Hazelwood’s sexy STEM, rival to lovers romance was a sexy, swoon worthy masterpiece—it’s bursting with humour, relatable characters, relevant commentary regarding women in STEM and a heartfelt exploration of love in all it’s many forms.

We follow Bee, a neuroscientist who, after a childhood full of uncertainty and constant travel just wants to find stability, put down roots and get a cat. But, after a terrible breakup Bee has now devoted her time to her career and after landing a co-leading job at NASA, things really are starting to look up. Until she finds out her co- lead is actually Levi Ward—her nemesis from Grad School!

I absolutely LOVED everything about this steamy, STEM romance! I loved how relatable (and adorably nerdy) all of the characters were and how relatable they all felt; Iespecially Bee’s assistant, Rocío who was definitely one of faves (her scenes were just so entertaining).

I also loved Bee, our purple haired, Star Wars loving neuroscientist with a love for all things Marie Curie. I loved her quirky sense of humour and the emotional journey we experience through her; after witnessing her childhood it’s easy to understand why she fears emotional connection—I really just wanted to give her a big cozy hug.

Levi, Bee’s grad school nemesis was an absolute cinnamon roll of a character (seriously Hazelwood writes some of the best male characters) and the perfect love interest for Bee, I loved how his grumpy, brooding demeanour just seems to melt the more time he spends with Bee (our perpetual day of sunshine) also his love of cats made him 100% hotter. The chemistry and sexual tension between them was off the charts, and I was absolutely obsessed with how much steamier the romance here was than in Hazelwood’s debut.

I also thought Hazelwood did a fantastic job at highlighting the incredibly important (and relevant) issues surrounding the injustice and prejudice within STEM, particularly in regards to women. In fact, having loved this soo much I definitely plan to check out more STEMinist romances (and if your also looking into reading more there’s a couple of lists over on Goodreads full of incredible STEM related romances which includes Hazelwood’s novellas.)

So, if you loved The Love Hypothesis, enemies to lovers or the sunshine/grump trope then your going to fall hopelessly in love with this adorably quirky, and utterly endearing romance—trust me, the serotonin boost from reading this will have to in a state of blissfulness for at least a week (or until your next reread.)

Thanks to Sphere/Little, Brown Book Group UK and Netgalley for the e-arc.

THIS BOOK DESERVES CAPITAL LETTERS. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. As a massive fan of The Love Hypothesis, I had high hopes for this book and it did not disappoint. I think I may have preferred it! How that can happen I have no idea, because I thought The Love Hypothesis was perfection.

I love the fact that Ali Hazelwood writes about interesting women in STEM, this one followed Bee a neuroengineer who teams up with NASA to create a helmet for astronauts. In walks her old nemesis Levi who works for NASA and is the lead on the project she has joined.

A full-on enemy to lovers plotline that will have you salivating for more. I cannot wait to read what Ali comes up with next.

Guys I’m literally sitting in the dark sobbing as I write these words. Let me just clarify - I am not a fan of science, I am NOT a fan of romance books but oh my god this book just melted my cold heart and even gave ME butterflies at times. I loved it so so so much, I absolutely need to read Ali’s other book immediately!!!!!! Such incredible writing and such a lovely, sweet story. If I had to stop reading thrillers for any book, I’m so glad it was this one!!!!

I recently read and adored The Love Hypothesis to my complete surprise – me, a lesbian who reads almost exclusively queer books loving a straight romance? – and so I knew I needed to read Love on the Brain as soon as possible. Thankfully, the publisher was kind enough to allow me to read it early. It was hard not to go into this book without comparing it to The Love Hypothesis, especially as I read them so close together, but it quickly became clear that Love on the Brain stands on its own as a fun, sexy, STEMinsist romance novel.

When I begin writing a review, I sit down and list the pros and cons of a book. And let me tell you, the pros list of Love on the Brain is very long. And the cons list? Nonexistent. I simply adored my time reading this book and absolutely flew through it. I couldn’t bear to put it down, which is a feeling I’d been missing until I picked up Ali Hazelwood’s books.

What makes a romance book good is good characters. If the characters can’t stand on their own then their relationship won’t work either. Ali Hazelwood has crafted some amazing characters that I love as individuals almost as much as I love them together. Bee is spunky and funny and clever and I loved her character’s main conflict. What she wants most in the world is what she’s most scared of – amazing, angsty and so clearly informs all her actions. Levi was such a fun love interest – romantic, charming in his own way and has had some clear growth from when he and Bee first met before the book started.

With two amazingly written characters comes a romance equally as good. I loved the slow development of their relationship, as they went from the initial dislike and misunderstandings to Bee beginning to develop some crushy feelings to them finally getting together. They had such great communication once Bee got over her initial dislike of Levi which I always love in a romance. And the sex scenes! They were so well written and sexy.

Something I really liked with the whole ‘hate to love’ trope was that it was so clear that Levi absolutely did not hate Bee from the very beginning. I think I’d have struggled to enjoy it if I thought that he didn’t like her and wouldn't be rooting for them to get together so much. As it was, I really enjoyed the misunderstandings brought on from Bree interpreting everything he does through the lens of thinking he hates her. In addition to this, I loved the social media aspect and how it showed what Levi was really thinking.

As with The Love Hypothesis, this book had a big focus on women in STEM and feminist themes which I loved. This was mostly developed on social media and through Bee’s determination to improve things in STEM for other women and people of colour. These books raise such important points and treat them with the gravity they deserve, while remaining fun and lighthearted overall. I also appreciate that the science is accessible for people like me whose last science class was age 14.

I absolutely adored Love on the Brain. Ali Hazelwood’s books have taken hold of me and refused to let me go and reminded me why I love romance. I am very much looking forward to reading more from her and highly recommend you pick this book up!

Really enjoyed love hypothesis so I just had to request this.
Wow. I LOVED it! Read over a rainy weekend. This ticked so many boxes for me- enemies to lovers, stem and LGBT representation.

Honestly if I could give this book 1000 more stars I would. 5/5 doesn’t seem justice enough.

I am so lucky and grateful to have received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review because I have highlighted SO MANY lines in this book (thank u kindle tabbing powers).

Reading Ali Hazelwood feels like reading someones diary. The writing style is EXACTLY what I want from a book. Side notes, inside jokes, internal thoughts; I WANT EVERYTHING. Reading from Bee’s perspective was like listening to a friend’s story throughout.

I was laughing, crying, cringing - my heart was racing and my stomach was in my lap. Authors who can make you feel all this at once? Pure talent.

This is a subtle enemies to lovers trope romance - also a boy falls first! (My fav). Both the romantic and scientific side of this plot was amazing. I’m not going to sit here and pretend I didn’t have to google some of the more complex scientific vocab within this book oops science is not my strong point BUT I have found a new love in reading about women in STEM!

I love how smart Bee is, sometime romance fiction can paint women in a more ‘damsel in distress’ tainted light (which I’m not always against) but a romance where both parties are crazy smart, caring, funny and beautiful? Yes please.

Rocío is also the perfect side character so I can’t not include an appreciation for her in this review. I love her attitude and the relationship she has with Bee.

Overall I can confirm I am now obsessed with Ali Hazelwood and her writing. If you liked ‘The Love Hypothesis’ I can guarantee you will LOVE this book - I can’t wait to see what Hazelwood has lined up for us next!

{I will be posting a review of this book to my blog/social media closer to the release date Aug 23 2022}

thankyou so much netgalley & berkley for providing me with an arc <3
wow. after reading ‘the love hypothesis’ i had high expectations going into this book and they were definitely exceeded. i absolutely adore this book. bee and reike königswasser and quite possibly my FAVOURITE set of twins. they are so funny and i love how different they are, i also love the communication between the two, i find in books that quite a lot there is a lack of relationship between siblings and there wasn’t a single moment in this book that i forgot bee was a twin. back to bee for a second, she’s a marie curie lover, she’s got purple hair, she’s got piercings, what is not to love about her?! annnd cue levi ward, a brooding, fiery man who has a hatred for bee, which she doesn’t seem to understand. after they’re forced to work as co-leads on project BLINK, they put their differences aside and transform from enemies to lovers in the best way. there was some similarities to the love hypothesis such as levi saving bee and the hotel room but i wouldn’t change it for a thing. levi is the biggest cinnamon bun there is out there and he is such a big softie, willing to drop everything he’s worked for, for bee. the smut in this book gets an honourable mention bc it was TOP TIER. god damn. the ‘interacting with eachother on twitter but not knowing it’s eachother’ plot line is one of my favourites and it’s my secret guilty pleasure, it was so obvious from the start that he was levi BUT that aside it was still really enjoyable and i was dying for the reveal. this is my new favourite book and my god i cannot wait to get my hands on a physical copy. 5/5 would definitely recommend.

I devoured this book in a couple of days, much like I had done with The Love Hypothesis.

I think I adored Love on the Brain even more, just because it really had me laughing out loud at some of Bee's inner monologue or Rocio's lines (Rocio is the best). The romance was really well done, I really liked the smut and the characters.

I will say tho, Hazelwood has a THING for Adam Driver and every one of her love interests so far has been him (note that I am not complaining). Some things were quite similar to the Love Hypothesis which didn't necessarily bother me but I could notice.

That ending was WILD.

I received an arc from Netgalley I'm exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley ❤️

I was a bit hesitant to start reading this, because I loved The Love Hypothesis so much, and I was a little afraid Ali Hazelwood might be a one hit wonder.
Well. She isn't.
This story is even more feminist, geekier, sexier and so full of longing. I adore stories about longing.
I highlighted a ton of sentences on my Kindle, because Ali Hazelwood points out so many interesting things, especially about Sausage referencing power ™ 😂😱 Even, I, as an enthusiastic feminist, learned a lot about what we, as the world's population, still have to achieve in equal rights.
The plot itself is not even that good. Enemies to lovers, a thinly veiled You've got mail retelling, an obvious bad guy, none of this was unpredictable. But who cares? Honestly, I much prefer a well written romance novel above an unpredictable story that has no soul. With this kind of romance, I want to feel things, I want to be unable to sleep until I finish reading about two lovely fictional characters. And Love on the Brain totally did that for me.

I've already reread sections of this book several times, I love it that much.

It's pretty easy to see some plot twists coming, but that's kind of the joy of them - we know something the characters don't, and waiting for them to find out what's really going on (and how they've misjudged each other) is perfectly delicious.

Added to this, both MCs are geeky and charming, the supporting cast is fantastic, and the overall plot, supporting the romance, is really interesting. I loved it, and I'd definitely recommend it for fans of Ali Hazelwood's first book, and for anyone who likes smart, quirky romantic comedies in general.

I read the love hypothesis by this author and loved it so couldn't wait for this one, whilst I didn't love it quite as much as I hoped I did still fly through it. I love that the characters are all confident and focused on science related roles instead of love. It read just like a really good rom com and I was giggling and feeling so many different emotions that I was sad when I finished it.

A must read for those that liked Love Hypothesis, Bridgerton, etc.

I absolutely adored this book. Full of twists and turns with a will they won't they? type storyline. Pure joy with brilliantly written characters and a brilliant lead character in Bee! Many, many happy tears at the end. Cannot wait to see what Ali Hazelwood writes next!

Bee accepts here dream job as a team lead on a neuroengineering project with NASA, but when she realises her co-lead is Levi Ward, an old adversary from grad school, her dream job turns into a nightmare.

There is a fine line between love and hate. That is what this book is about…and also how I feel about it. In the last few months, I have read ‘The Hating Game’. ‘The Spanish Love Deception’ and ‘Not My Problem’ and I think I am getting a bit tired of the enemies to lovers trope. The similarities are endless, verging on cliché; forced close proximity, fake dating, miscommunications, misunderstandings, and a constant reminder that the girl is teeny tiny while the man is super tall and muscly underneath his tailored suit. However, I did like the science setting and the cast of smart, witty women. I also liked that there was a little more going on than just the romance.

Overall, this was a predictable but easy and addictive read. I will keep ‘The Love Hypothesis’ on my TBR for when I need a fast, fun pick me up.

Thank you NetGalley and Sphere for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
