I completely completely adored this book.
I inhaled it and resented anything that took me away from it.
It’s smart, sexy, sassy and funny.
Ali Hazelwood’s writing is now my catnip.

Firstly I want to REALLY thank Netgalley and the publishers for the e-arc 😍🥰

I LOVED this book!! Like REALLY REALLY loved this book. I thought I loved The Love Hypothesis, but I only had lukewarm feelings compared to Love on the Brain!! 😍😍

Bee is such a likeable character, she’s clever, loving and I really feel so much for her. Despite her scattered upbringing she’s grown to be a woman who wants to settle and that loves her job and her sister more than anything. Sure, she has some issues, but that’s normal for anybody. Levi is just the dreamiest man I think I read in a romance since Mr Darcy (this is not an exaggeration honestly 😍😍). He’s constant, hard-working and completely passionate which for me totally made him my new obsession. Though he is not without his issues either…

I love the use of social media in the book, there’s one DM that made me cry for about 5 minutes (again, this is no exaggeration 😂😅). The backdrop at NASA is so cool and I absolutely love Rocío and Reike, they’re amazing and strong women that complement Bee beautifully!! I swear I had that weird twinge in my chest through most of this book and I cried A LOT (good tears and bad tears). This book is perfect.

I read this book in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for sure!!

The romance in this was impeccable, really lovely. I felt that this was the perfect build of enemies to lovers, that seemed believable and not over the top and I loved the way the emotions built. It was really well done and you really believed the emotions of the two main characters and how they developed. They was also a really good level of angst between the two characters, when you really thought they disliked each other, which really made me want to read on!

Levi is an absolute dream and Bee was so much fun to read from her point of view (although I really could have done with a few less Marie Curie facts, it was fun at first but got old quickly). There were some really fun and cute tropes throughout this one, including an online identity plot which I adored. It was so lovely getting to watch them connect on a deeper level and truly talk to each other about their feelings with the other without the other realising (even if it was obvious they were talking to each other). Their messages were so sweet and I really loved the addition of this mixed media element and what it added to the story.

That being said, the ending was completely ridiculous and ultimately stopped this from being a five star read because I just couldn't get on board with it. When you read it you'll understand what I mean. But it just didn't seem to fit with the tone of the rest of the book which was such a shame. It seemed like the book had suddenly become an over the top mystery and I think we could have had the same kind of ending without it seeming so ridiculous and out of place and changing the whole tone of the book.

Overall a really cute and fun romance, and I love the women in stem conversations (despite not being a part of that world at all). I just wished a few of the plot points had been changed and it would have been another amazing success from Ali Hazelwood. I will 100% pick up everything she writes in the future!

Wow. I haven’t read a book for a while that has me thinking about it 24/7 and I’d forgotten how much I love it. I didn’t know what to expect when starting this book. After LOVING The Love Hypotheses I had high hopes but and high expectations. Let’s just say that anything I could have hoped for for was reached!
There were a few things that I didn’t enjoy as much in the book. For example, I found some areas to be slightly long winded (but overall was a super quick and fun read so I’m not too mad), I also felt like this book is almost too similar to The Love Hypothesis. It felt like the two had the same base plot lines with just different characters and different reasonings for the things they did.
Regardless of this, I still became hooked from the start and think I will be silently obsessing over everything that happened until it’s release day and I get to see everyone’s reactions!! Well done Ali for once again producing an incredible book!

I freaking love Ali Hazelwood's books. She is so damn perfect: the main character is always a smart lass whom I admire so much and the guy is... let's just say every woman wants a Levi. Hell, I want a Levi. The things he says, the actions he takes...

I started the book yesterday evening. I was reading it non-stop till I finished at 3 in the morning. I am not sure I was even breathing properly.

The only thing I am sad about? That was an ARC of the book coming out in August so I can not even imagine how long I need to be waiting for the next book...

Need more! Asap!

On the whole it was a very good romance within the somewhat unique setting and I did really enjoy it. I Loved Levi and I *sort of* liked Bee. I also very much loved all the trademarks which were funny. Oh and the Marie Curie obsession which was very much relatable!

The whole premise of these books is that it calls out the male dominance in STEM, and whilst that is great, as it raises genuine issues, I’m not entirely sure I was a huge fan of how it was done. I’m just not into raising up women at the expense of something else, in this case it was at the expense of men in general (with the exception of the lead male ofc 🙄). I can say for sure though that the representation of intelligent successful women in such a traditionally male dominant environment was really nice to see. I just thought it was a shame that all three female characters were very quirky and, I hate to say it, but thus a tiny bit annoying and less likeable then I would prefer.

I have one other tiny little criticism, and that came to light from the very first page actually. The whole plot was extremely transparent, it was very predictable. Which I guess is okay since most romance novels do have similar plot points (and we read them regardless because we love them) but I would have loved to have seen a real enemies to lovers scenario, rather than it being just another lame misunderstanding/miscommunication issue.

If you loved The Love Hypothesis then I think you will also enjoy this one too, but just maybe not quite so much. Absolutely still worth picking up though.

I have to confess that I haven’t read The Love Hypothesis, so this is my first Ali Hazelwood book. I don’t tend to read romances so I was a little hesitant, but ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.

It’s lighthearted, good fun and has great characters to get behind. Perhaps a little too much emphasis on physical appearance but I’ll let that slide as the characters did at least have personalities to match.

Overall, I can see why this author has had so much success and I will absolutely be recommending this to romance fans when it comes out in the summer.

To preface, I absolutely loved The Love Hypothesis!
While I was over the moon to receive an early release of Love on the Brain, I wasn’t quite sure if it would measure up to how much I loved TLH. However, I dare to say I enjoyed LOTB even more!!

OMG… The characters, the tropes, the romance, and (obviously) the trademark focus on women in STEM - I adored every single second I spent devouring this book.

I will 100% continue to read everything that Ali Hazelwood releases in the future!!!
Meanwhile, don’t mind me, I’ll just be over here manifesting my own Levi Ward..

➳ Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project— Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

➳ Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way & sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school—archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.

➳ Now, her equipment is missing, the staff is ignoring her, & Bee finds her floundering career in somewhat of a pickle. Perhaps it’s her occipital cortex playing tricks on her, but Bee could swear she can see Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas…devouring her with those eyes. And the possibilities have all her neurons firing. But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there’s only one question that matters: What will Bee do?

➳ Oh, my goodness! At this point, Ali Hazelwood has my entire heart! This was exactly what I needed after a long week.

➳ I was a little hesitant getting into this book because I enjoyed The Love Hypothesis so much, and I was afraid it wouldn't live up to my expectations. But I have to admit, Ali Hazelwood did an amazing job with this one as well, much above my expectations!

➳ Everything about this book was fantastic! I can't seem to get enough of her witty romance! Bee and Levi are enthralling from the first page. And Levi!! God! Their romance was so well-executed that they went from enemies to friends to lovers in no time.

➳ They were so absolutely adorable couple; they were always bantering and teasing one other, admired each other And their chemistry! Uffo!! It was incredible & super steamy!

➳ I adored this book and can't wait to see what Ali Hazelwood comes up with next!!!

Funny, cute and at times just a little bit heartbreaking. Just like The Love Hypothesis you’ll not want to put this book down until the very last page!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

"The real villain is love: an unstable isotope, constantly undergoing spontaneous nuclear decay."

If you fell in love with Adam and Olive in The Love Hypothesis, then strap yourself in because you'll be falling even harder for Levi and Bee in Love On The Brain.

I was so impressed with LTH last year, especially considering it was a debut novel. It was written so well, so naturally... LOTB is next level. I feel like you can see Ali Hazelwood grow in confidence as a writer between books one and two.

Bee is such a fun and relatable protagonist to read along with - her fixation with Marie Curie is both hilarious and endearing, and her train of thought is often laugh-out-loud funny throughout the book.

Levi as a love interest is just gorgeous, he's everything you want in a Book Boyfriend: charming, strong, kind, sexy and clever.

Their chemistry is undeniable!

Even knowing nothing about neuroscience, I was able to follow along with all the technical talk. Again, Hazelwood has highlighted problems women in STEM encounter throughout their careers, which is something she explored in TLH too. The story flowed beautifully, every little twist or trope in the perfect place.

Another huge success and I cannot wait for all my friends to read this in August so I can talk to them about it!

Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood is such a feel good and swoon worthy read as two nemeses collaborate on a NASA project. This book is such a joy to read and I'm so happy I got to read an arc, it was everything I needed and more.

Can we all just agree that when the male love interest has a massive crush on the girl and acts like a fool in front of her is the damn cutest thing in the world? Because it is!!!! I love them both so much and though I struggled with the STEM aspect of this book (super science-y) but it was still such an enjoyable read.

My pace was a bit slow in the beginning but as the story picked up, I completely devoured it. Man, I really need more from this author and absolutely can't wait to see what else she has in store next. I highly highly recommend you to pick this up once its out in August 2022.

To put it simply: I do not have the words to express how much I LOVED Love on the Brain. I wasn't sure whether I'd like it as much as The Love Hypothesis, but honestly, I liked it even more! Brilliant work from Ali Hazelwood yet again!

Did I think “This won’t be as good as The Love Hypothesis”
Yes.

Was I wrong?
YES!

I was up until 1am reading this as I could NOT put it down. Love on the Brain is addictive and hilarious!

Full disclosure: I absolutely LOVED The Love Hypothesis. So I approached this follow-up with more than a little trepidation. Would it measure up? Would it leave me disappointed? Absolutely not. Bee and Levi are every bit as engaging as Olive and Adam. And what I love most about these books is Ali Hazelwood’s dazzlingly intelligent, witty voice. The trademarked sayings are a total delight as are the ways in which she portrays the still prevalent sexism in science. I cancelled my plans for the day as one more chapter turned into a whole day until I finished. Are we following the same trope of long unrequited love and extremely tall man with romantically clueless but fiercely independent and intelligent smaller woman? Totally. But it works. The characters are distinct from the last ones, with interesting backstories that explain their current behaviour. Ali Hazelwood is now an instant buy author for me. LOVED IT.

REVIEW: Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood
Love on the Brain follows Neuroscientist Dr Bee Königswasser who receives exciting news to lead on a project for NASA. Bee lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? In this case – Marie would accept the project without hesitation! Problem is that her co-lead is Levi Ward, her grad school nemesis. The project start is problematic; Bee’s equipment goes missing, staff are ignoring her and Bee finds her floundering career in a pickle. She wonders if Levi is behind this, but she could swear she can see Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays and seconding her ideas. But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there’s only one question that matters: What will Bee Königswasser do?

A huge thank you to Netgalley for letting me read this one. I was very excited when I saw it was available because I was so keen to read this after reading The Love Hypothesis last year.

This is such a fun romance read. I read this over one weekend, a great binge read if you fancy something sweet and heart-warming. I loved the premise – workplace enemies to lovers’ trope. Levi was a great character, very charming and loveable, whose complicated childhood and own pressure made him struggle to say the right things.

Bee is a quirky character and I found her endearing. I loved watching the relationship develop and their misunderstood past become untangled. It is a slow burn but the chapters where the pair build a deeper connection were great. I particularly loved the cemetery scene, very amusing!

I am very excited to read whatever Hazelwood releases next!
Have you read this one yet? What did you think?

When I saw that my request to read an ARC of this book had been accepted I literally squealed with joy. The Love Hypothesis was my favourite romance book of 2021, and I was so excited to see what Ali Hazelwood came out with next. Once I started reading this one I just couldn’t put it down, and overall I did really enjoy it.

I love how Ali Hazelwood writes about women in STEM; it’s definitely not something I come across often in romance books, and it’s such a welcome change. I definitely think that it helps that the author is herself a woman in STEM, because she really knows what she's talking about and that is obvious as you read. I really liked Bee as a protagonist, I think because I just love reading about really competent women. I thought the story premise was really solid, and the execution was good.

I do think however that the biggest disappointment of this book for me was how similar it was to TLH. I don’t mind that they’re both set in the science field (as I said previously, I actually really liked that aspect), but I found that the characters were basically copy and paste version of Olive and Adam. Hazelwood obviously has a thing for writing petite women, and tall broad-shouldered men— a nod to the Reylo fanfiction from which TLH stemmed perhaps? In LotB it felt a little one-note, I think also because they kind of had the same personalities too. Olive and Bee are both very driven and capable in their careers, but also very kind and caring, especially towards their friends. Then Adam and Levi are a little bit mysterious, calm and collected, and have been in love with the protagonist for many years without saying anything.
I should also mention that there were more sex scenes in LotB than there were in TLH; I don’t think most people will mind, they're still very tastefully done, but it still wasn’t really my thing. I had actually really liked that in TLH there was only one sex scene, but again this is total personal preference.

There were a couple of moments with the plot that were a little weak in my opinion. Some of the twists I wasn’t sure if the reader was meant to have guessed immediately (because I did), and again there was a slightly formulaic approach to who the ‘baddie’ would be. Also the crescendo of the book bordered on slightly ridiculous. I won't spoil anything, but the scene with the gun and attacking cat was almost comically out-of-pocket. The final few chapters also seemed a little rushed, and everything was resolved very quickly and easily.

And here’s the thing, even with the characters and plot that felt familiar, I still really enjoyed it. It’s a testament to Ali Hazelwood’s writing style, and proof that she's a fantastic author. I’ll still buy this in paperback when it comes out (also because I love the cover and love how it matches the one for TLH), and I’ll still recommend this book to people. It hasn’t knocked TLH off it’s spot as one of my favourite romances, but it’s still right up there. Bee was really cool, and Levi was swoon-worthy. It didn’t have any of the tropes that I usually find annoying in romance, and overall it was an absolute blast. I do recommend this one and think if you loved The Lovey Hypothesis then you’ll love this one too.

A sexy, sassy and altogether fabulous romance novel.

Bee, a dedicated and ambitious neuroscientist looking to make her name in her field, is offered the co-lead on a once in a lifetime NASA project that is sure to do just that. All is not plain sailing though when she discovers that her fellow co-lead is none other than her hated (but very sexy) grad school rival, Levi. High jinx, hardcore science, and sexy time ensue to create an entertaining, heart racing and page turning novel. This is a brilliant second novel from the author of The Love Hypothesis and marks Ali Hazelwood as a must read author.

I requested this because I'd heard the love hypothesis mentioned SO MUCH, but haven't read it yet. But safe to say, I'll definitely be picking it up. Completely understand the hype around this author now, The Love Brain is a completely addictive romance that you just can't put down. It's a rom-com for the 21st century, without stereotypes but with the best kind of tropes and cliches . I loved it, and I had the best time reading it. What more could you ask for?

Charming, witty and full of heart Love on the Brain is Ali Hazelwood's somophore novel and doesn't disappoint in the slightest. Following Bee, an up and coming neuroscientist who gets roped in to help NASA on a project that could make her career - the only problem is her archnemesis from grad school, Levi, is going to be co-lead on the project with her.

This book had a lot to live up to given how much I adored her first book, the love hypothesis, and how hyped up that book is. However love on the brain blew my expectations out the water and I actually think I very slightly liked this one more because it felt slight more realistic (to an extent lol) and I prefered the love interest and overall cinnamon roll relationship dynamic.

Bee as a main character is so easy to love and enjoy reading from her POV. She is quirky, but not in an annoying way (thankfully lol) and cares a lot about other people and the world but is afraid of letting herself get too attached to anyone after a bad experience with her ex-fiance cheating on her with her best friend. Her fears of abandonment were very relatable and the reaction not to trust anyone to closely so as not to get hurt hit me in the feels. Interestingly to me (at least) I'm such more similar to Olive than Bee in personality however I think I prefered reading from Bee's POV - I'm not sure if this is just because Ali Hazelwood has grown as an author but Bee is such a compelling character to follow.

Additionally I think the sex scenes in this book are a real step up from TLH, they felt less fan-fictiony (not that there is anything wrong with that) and more like a actual romance book.

As this is a romance I loved the main relationship so so much!! It is riddled with misunderstandings at the beginning but the dynamic and chemistry between Bee and Levi was so much fun to read about. I loved their banter and seeing them both slowly come out of their shells and learn to communicate better. Levi is such a cinnamon roll love interest and I always love it when the men are complete simps lol.

Also this book has one of my FAVOURITE EVER tropes where the two characters who know each other (and in the case dislike) in real life have secret personalities/alter egos, in this case online personas where they are friends and are always messaging each other about their lives. Bee is obbsessed with Marie Curie and runs a twitter account called what would maire do where she discusses various issues facing women in STEM and she is friends with another twitter accout who unbeknowest to her is run by Levi.

As ever there are some really great women in STEM and feminist themes which I think elevates this book a little above your typical romance. I think STEM fields are definitely under-represented in books (especially romance) and Ali Hazelwood clearly has a background in it as it reads very authentic and I really appreciate all the little details she puts in.

On a similar point one thing I absolutely adored about this book which I'm sure most people won't really care about unless you come from a neurosciece/medical background is the fact that all the chapter titles are named after parts of brain anatomy relevant to events occuring in that chapter. Despite giving me horror flashbacks to the anatomy lab in my early years of medicine lol I really loved this little detail and it made me so inexplicably happy.

In conclusion if you love cute romance, taking down the patriarchy, lots of angst and yearning, steamy sex scenes and mischievous cats then this is a must read!!
