A little fox must learn an important lesson from his mother about making choices that sends him on an adventure.

This is a well-written story that has a good rhythm to the text. Along with this, there is regular repetition of words and phrases making it ideal as a read-along story, such as to a class or one-to-one with a child.

'When you have to make a choice, listen to your inner voice.'

It would be well-suited to teaching, both for learning about making good, independent choices and for writing sequence-based narratives.

Throughout the book is beautifully illustrated using bold colours with strong contrast so the text is easy to find and read, plus the details in the pictures are clear. Periodically the art style seems to change; in some scenes, details are rendered with more shadow, for example in the faces of the characters. While this does not impact the appeal of the artwork, it does make it harder for a younger reader (the target age) to distinguish between characters, like the little fox and his mother.

The topic and writing style make this ideal for reading to two to six-year-olds. From the vocabulary used and how much of it is phonetically decodable, a child would be about seven years old to read this independently or with minimal support.

As a (very) minor note, the word 'internalises' is in the blurb on the back cover, which accurately describes the story arc. However, this would be challenging to a young reader, such as when choosing this in a library.

Catherine Flores - Listen To Your Inner Voice

Wonderful lesson about following your intuition

The story is on point! It has the potential to teach young children about following their intuition. The intuition! This book is a wonderful lesson about knowing something instinctively, which means: without using logic. And perhaps the story is also a useful reminder for grownups. 😉 On top of that, the story is wrapped in beautiful illustrations.

This book tells the story of a little fox, that learns from its mother the following very important lesson: "When you have to make a choice, listen to your inner voice." The little fox doesn’t know the real meaning of it yet and is irritated by seeing someone sad. This is the reason why the little fox ignores its own inner voice. It is the beginning of a dangerous adventure, but also of new learning... (Spoiler alert: everything will be alright in the end!)

Listen To Your Inner Voice is the perfect conversation starter with little ones who aren't always sure how to make good decisions. I will say, Little Fox makes the error of not listening to his inner voice, and it puts him in danger (which my 3 year old was very uneasy about) but we talked about it at an age appropriate level. She absolutely loved the imagery, the illustrations are beautiful! My 7 year old understood the message right from the get go. The lesson about listening to your gut instincts is a good one! “When you have to make a choice, listen to your inner voice.”

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for making this book available for review.

This is a sweet story about listening to your inner voice (and your mother). It demonstrates what could happen when a child doesn't listen. Very simply written, I enjoyed following Little Fox's journey. The illustrations nicely complemented the story.

I love when children's books take on more grown up type phrases and bring them into a perspective for a children to understand. All adults and most children have heard the phrase "listen to your inner voice" and not everyone truly understands what on earth does that mean!? This book explores this topic in a forest creature world with a fox that starts off NOT listening to it and the consequence that come from it. Lil dark going to a store front and seeing a fox-fur coat. Also a tad unrealistic in this day and age but I suppose not entirely fantastical. I still feel there could have been a little more depth into what the inner voice truly is rather than over and over again parroting that phrase. But it is a good conversation starter to 1. Listening to your gut and 2. Also your guardians to keep you safe.

In complete honesty, the sweet little fox on the cover was the first thing that drew me to this book. (If you didn’t know, foxes are my favorite animal. Though, I do love all forest animals in general.) I also loved the title and knew I had to give this book a try since I always try to listen to my inner voice.

This is definitely a sweet way for a child (or adult) to learn this important life lesson. I don’t want to give away the story, so I recommend you a settle down for a snuggle and read this sweet story yourself.

When I spotted the gorgeous cover of this children’s book, I knew I had to read it.

The entire book was a visual delight! The soft, gentle curves of the landscapes kept my eyes wandering from page to page. The subtle change in the colors and lighting all the way through to the end of book were exceptional. The warm, golden tones of the setting sun made me feel relaxed and comfortable – which is exactly how the little fox felt to be back at home after a long time away.

As a mother, I found this story contained valuable life lessons for children about some hidden dangers of the world and how to make good choices. I loved that Mommy Fox had a sing-song saying that rhymed and was easy to remember:

“When you have to make a choice, listen to your inner voice.”

It’s important to teach children to follow their consciences and intuition, because they will encounter situations where they have to make decisions on their own. This book is a good conversation starter between a child and an adult about how listening to your “inner voice” is a valuable rule to follow no matter how old you are.

Listen To Your Inner Voice is a beautiful and essential book for young children. It's a lifelong lesson that shares a message of trusting that inner voice, one we each have within us.

I appreciated the journey that Fox had to go through to learn this message. That feels realistic and gives the lesson through experience, something each of us goes through on this life journey and understanding.

In putting himself at risk and danger, Fox could navigate his journey back home using his feelings and that mantra his mother shared with him. I would love to teach my students this same lesson at a young age, having Listen To Your Inner Voice a part of our Peace Curriculum.

I would definitely recommend this book for all children and teachers/schools.

Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This is a cute children's book with great illustration. I like the concept of it. This will be a great tool for parent's and children to discuss the inner voice.

I think it would have been cute if the little fox had a name.

Thank you for the opportunity of reading this on NetGalley.

Little Fox's mother has always told him to stop and listen to his inner voice before making a decision, but one day he decides to go ahead despite the voice's warning. This lands Little Fox in a dangerous situation where he has to learn to listen to his inner voice or risk his very life.

This was generally a sweet and cozy book. The illustrations were absolutely gorgeous and did a lot to soften it. Despite not rhyming, it had a natural cadence and rhythm that made it really pleasant to read. The moral lesson was way too obvious, but otherwise I really liked this story.

Thank you to ACL Creative Studio and NetGalley for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

I loved this story so much. I love foxes so the cover grabbed my attention immediately. The illustrations were so colorful and beautiful. It perfectly delivered the message of listening to your inner voice and choosing right from wrong so young children will understand. This is the perfect story for parents to read to their children to teach them valuable life lessons.

This was an adorable book.

I had to laugh a little because I think that maybe the fox fur in the store window might have been a bit of a shock, as you don't typically have that sort of thing in a children's book BUT it really drives the point home that you should always listen to your inner voice.

It's a good message and something that we should instill in our children at a young age. Sometimes it is hard to listen to your inner voice but that doesn't mean you should ignore it. It's a skill that should be practiced and this book demonstrates it well.

I can't wait for story time with my 6 year old tomorrow so I can read this to him.

This was a beautiful story about making choices. Lovely illustrations and daughter really enjoyed the story. She read it herself and was her first story via a Kindle.

Could this be more adorable and important? I don't think so. Our little fox knows what the right thing to do is, but sometimes the temptation is too great and trouble can still find you! He is led astray, but using the wisdom his mother has taught him, he listens to his inner voice, follows his gut, and finds his way home. I loved the verdant forest and the brilliant colors. The expressions on the animal's faces were darling and I feel like every child listening to this story will identify with the fox and be able to think of a time when they should have listened to their inner voice, and not been pulled into trouble by someone. I'd happily add this to my classroom library!

This is a beautiful books. The pictures are wonderful. And the message of the book is so amazing, and also very helpful for teaching children to listen to their inner voice when other people are trying to get them to ignore it.

This book was a fun and quirky way of teaching kids how to make the right choices. It teaches them that listening to their inner voice means following the wise words from their parents.

Mamma knows what she is talking about. Little fox is off in the woods and his mother reminds him to listen to your inner voice before you make any decision. When little fox meets a nice dog in the woods, he ignores that inner voice and finds himself in danger and in trouble. Little Fox is still has much to learn about the wisdom of mom.

Your child and you will grow a bond and maybe reflect on past decisions that could have been hurtful. It is good for children to reason on their own but with direction of those that love them the most. A fun read with a wise tale and capitating illustrations to draw the lessons home.

Thank you to Net Galley and BooksGoSocial for the advance read. I loved this story. Listening to your inner voice and instincts are such important concepts for young ones to learn and this book does a great job of showing this. And to top it off, the illustration was absolutely gorgeous throughout, I wanted to crawl inside the book. I can’t wait to share this one with my kids.

A story where a little fox learns to listen to their own inner voice when faced with decisions. Captivating illustrations that are sure to engage younger readers. A good introduction to the concept of peer pressure and resisting it when your inner voice says "no".

There is imagery of a hunter with guns, so know your reader and whether this will be a good match for them, and whether you should read it with them. No foxes were harmed in the making (or at least reading) of this book!
