This is a brilliant debut. It is set in Manchesters underworld. It is gritty. The pace is fast and action packed. Filled with twists and suspense. The characters are very well developed

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Call the Shots by Sam Tobin, very much reminded me of Martina Cole books, both of which I thoroughly enjoy.

The book is an easy read and easy to follow, with twists and turns. You even end up liking some of the rough diamonds!!!

This is the first of three books, which I would love to read all of the series.

A great first book from this author, gangland crime at its best.

Situated in Manchester the author has created some exciting characters. With twists and turns throughout this book will certainly keep you on your toes being full of suspense. Gritty and at a fast pace if you like gangland bosses and their stories this is a great debut book to read.
I think this author has a great future.

Manchester Underworld Series

You don't know Craig Malton. Hopefully you never will = until you need his help, help that the police can't give you. Keisha Bistacchi has never forgiven Malton for walking out on her all those years ago, and has been keeping a close eye ever since. When her husband is brutally kidnapped, she begs Malton to find him. But who will be calling the shots?

What a great novel this was, and it's the start of a new underworld series too. The pace is fast and it's action packed. I was pulled in from the first chapter. Filled with twists and suspense, it kept my interest throughout. Craig Malton has his own security business, but he's not someone you want to mess about with. Keisha Bistacchi's husband Paul is a gangster who's brother is out of control. There's much much more and it's all kicking off, big time. Even though there is quite a lot going on in the book, including separate story threads, it's still easy to follow. There's plenty of potential for this new series that's set in Manchester. The characters are well developed and believable.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #HodderStoughton and the author #SamTobin for my ARC of #CallTheShots in exchange for an honest review,

The plot was filled with twists and suspense, it gripped me from the beginning and held my interest. A new author to try for lovers of gangland thrillers and one I would recommend.. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Freah, believable and gripping.
A real interesting storyline with threads that all interwind. This all comes together brilliantly and drags you right through the pages at breakneck speed.
I will certainly be looking out for more books from this author.

An action-packed, knuckle-whitening first book in an explosive new gangland series. A wonderful and incredibly rich novel . . . I wasn't able to put it down till I reached the end. I was absolutely captivated by the atmosphere, and the characters...

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

This is the author’s first book and I think it is a good read. It started off well and quickly grabbed my attention. There are lots of separate story threads here which I liked and they all started to come together as the story progresses. There are two main characters, one I liked, the other not so much and they are believable and portrayed realistically and each have a good history. Craig Malton is a man who will sort out problems that no one else can for a cost, and when he is targeted one night he wants to know by who and why. When someone from his past asks for help he can’t say no. This is a well written and engaging book with a good plot. I liked a lot of the side characters who each bought something to the story. The story was fast paced, had a lot going on, plenty of action and so many twists - some I guessed. It just didn’t wow me or have me desperate to know what was coming next. Saying this though I would definitely want to read the next book to see what happens with the two main characters. If you like gangland crime books I’d recommend you read this.

3.5 stars

Knowing Manchester well, although a completely different one to that portrayed in this book, the storyline and characters in Call The Shots were easy to follow as they ventured across the city. But simply taken as another book taken off the shelf, it was also a decent read. As the story didn’t quite reach a conclusion, I suspect that there will be a follow up, which will also be read.
Fast moving and violent, although a couple of twists were not unexpected, it was as expected.

WOW what a gripping read, a top gangland book, and amazingly the first by this author that I just didn't expect to be so good.
Craig Malton with his own security business in Manchester's underworld and getting to know all the characters.
This book has it all, violent, fast pace, absolutely brilliant what a fabulous start to the author's writing and left me hungry for more

Find yourself transported into the realm of Manchester's dubious underworld, filled with violence, deception and crime.

What a brilliant debut book! The characters - "the toughest, deadliest, and most calculated players" - are excellent, so very believable. My favourite is Dean although I feel like I'm witnessing his corruption! I've a sneaky feeling there's a romance brewing for him (and she'd better not break his heart!).

Call The Shots has been left with PLENTY of open storylines ready for a follow up.. Eagerly awaiting booking two.
