This book gave me some great ideas for my next knits! Starting to plan for winter already. Lovely patterns with easy to follow instructions.

Cozy Knits is chock full of cozy knitting patterns! As a person with a very basic knowledge of knitting, this book was full of great information and projects that I’m eager to try out. Each project included information on tools, materials and process and included photos of finished projects and illustrations of techniques and patterns! This is a great read for people trying to figure out what to create with their knitting skills!

I already have to many WIPs to be looking at new patterns but it seems like I will be adding to my pile once again! The instructions were clear and I loved how the items photographed.

The patterns were interesting, and the explanations were for people with a moderate amount of experience, as it should be for anyone attempting colourwork!
I was unable to complete any project before my e-copy of the book expired, so I cannot give a full-length review of how the instructions actually worked. Maybe if I purchased a physical copy, I can alter my review at a later time.

I really liked following these patterns, I usually knit while listening to audio books and these are a great way to spend time just relaxing. And at the end of this you have cool things to add to your wardrobe or to give away as gifts to friends and relatives.

Cozy Knits is made up of 30 hat, mitten, scarf and sock patterns from around the world and around the world you go. From Norwa to, Sweden, Japan to Turkey and Iceland just to name a few. You will get a flavour of unique and interesting patterns.

The patterns are all accessories - Hats, Scarves, Mittens, and Socks. My personal taste, I didn’t care for most of the patterns. The scarves were loud and seemed very heavy and clunky, the hats are shapes that aren’t my style. The patterns I loved the most were the socks, they were very cute and wearable styles.

That being said, it is great to learn a new technique on an accessory. You can concentrate on learning the technique on a project that is short in length and usually easier to manage. But beware, there aren’t a lot of instructions. I would say intermediate level and beyond since beginners might need more guidance. There are some charts and some written out patterns.

There is a small paragraph on the contributors, but other than that not much else in the book. I would have loved some background on what makes something, for example, Icelandic. You get a couple of lines before the pattern, but that’s about it. I think if was a missed opportunity. There are enough pictures that show off the garments nicely but nothing overly inspiring.

Overall, not something I’m going to put on my must have list. There weren’t enough patterns I loved, or would wear to warrant me buying this. Also not something where I am going to learn a specific technique and it doesn’t qualify as a coffee table book for my collection. But I think if you wanted to get something with some flavour and a chance to introduce you to some knitting traditions around the world, then you should have a look at Cozy Knits.

4☆ A Beautiful Gift for Experienced Knitters.

Cozy Knits is a beautiful knitting book consisting of 30 unique knitting patterns from around the world, including hats, scarves and socks.

There has been so much thought and time taken to make this book, the Author has thought of everything.
Including pattern notes, special techniques, wools and needles, abbreviations, yarn weights & sources.

I am a fairly accomplished knitter but still yet to master some skills and I think even for me this book would certainly be a challenge and not particularly suited to novice knitters. Especially as mostly all of the patterns require you to be able to read pattern charts as well as following the regular pattern requirements.

I think this book would make a Beautiful Gift for an experienced knitter. Maybe one day I might be confident to try some of these gorgeous patterns.

New inspiration for knitting
Sue Flanders and Janine Kosel together with editor Kari Cornell are presenting "Cozy Knits: 30 Hat, Mitten, Scarf and Sock Projects from Around the World" published by Quarto Publishing Group - Quarry (Voyager Press). The book is divided into three main parts: 1) Scarves (11 designs), 2) Hats & Mittens (8 designs), and 3) Socks (11 designs). The authors do not only present the various designs but also the inspiration for it. The book is very inspirational for knitters and those who just want to read about knitting. It is colorful and attractive with a great design and photographs. I recommend it for people who do want to go farther in their knitting, for those who are interested in more than the standard patterns. The book comes with notes for the patterns and notes about special techniques. Abbreviations, information about standard yarn wight system, yarn sources, and the designers are included as well as a index that is helpful to find a specific information. The fact that the book offers the measurements in inches and centimeters merits already five stars, but it would have been also helpful if the patters would have been included in a downloadable file that knitters who are, e.g., traveling would not have to take the whole book with them. I am looking forward of trying some of these patterns when I will live again in a climate zone where there is need for scarves, hats, mittens, and socks.

This projects in this book truly can be defined as ‘cozy’. Scarves, hats, gloves, socks… Lots of fun – and practical! – projects to work on populate the colorful pages, along with notes about the various places in the world that inspired each project or set of projects. The projects are attractive and intriguing, and I found several that I’d like to do. The instructions are clear, and in many cases color charts are included with some written instructions. That all said, Cozy Knits is NOT a beginner knit book, in my opinion. Even the projects, in some places, mention that the techniques required to complete things are intermediate or more. To do all the projects in the book a knitter has to be able to do color knitting, and be able to do various special techniques with color changes, double-knitting, cast-ons, and bind-offs, among other things. Knitting from a chart is a definite needed skill. There is a basic appendix in the back of the book that defines some abbreviations. The projects are attractive, usable, and seem fun to knit, and I’d wholeheartedly recommend it if you enjoy knitting the various items it features, but if you’re not used to more complicated knitting techniques, you might find this book a bit challenging at times.

If you love knitting patterns from all over the world this book is for you. All levels of expertise and good pictures.
Instructions are clear and there are lots of hints and instructions. Cozy knits are a great thing to learn.

This collection of cozy knitting projects is for more experienced knitters looking to use techniques for colour work, knitting in the round and complex pattern charts.
I particularly loved the Central Park Mobius Strip scarf and the hat and glove sets using Scandinavian design elements and colour ways.
Great fun.

A wonderful array of scarves, socks and hats with names that conjures various countries with a history of warm, color stranded and thick pattern knits.The fact that many items are worked in multi colors and fair isle- like designs make them very thick and warm. There are written instructions as well as graphs where appropriate. A book with easy to follow instruction and fabulous photos, make this a great book for knitters

Awesome book loaded with so many ideas and patterns.
The charts are very useful and the full colour photographs enable the knitter to see what their end goal is. I love reading the inspiration/source of each of the patterns too, adds a bit to the pattern too.
I can't wait to try some of these out.

So this is day two of my favorite hobbies crossing and another great knitting book.

The patterns are charted and in color for the colorwork projects and include scarves, hats mitten and sock, so all highly mobile projects. In addition to colorwork, there are cables and textured knitting using a myriad of techniques that will help build your skills.

With beautiful photographs, you could display this even when you aren’t knitting from it.

“Cozy Knits” showcases 30 beautiful patterns, ideal for intermediate knitters already familiar with stranded colour work. There is some great variety here, with patterns for various wintry accessories and socks, and each comes with clear charts and great photos.

While not particular ground-breaking in terms of their aesthetic, the designs are very pleasant and the patterns are clear to follow. I’m sure I’ll be making a few gifts from this book in the near future!

I was able to preview "Cozy Knits" by Sue Flanders & Janine Kosel on NetGalley. Since I am an avid knitter I always enjoy looking at knitting books. This book has many great patterns that I can see myself making. I really enjoy knitting cables and there are numerous patterns with cables in this book. I think this book would be a great addition to any knitter's library of books.

This is a lovely collection of fair isle and cabled patterns for hats, mittens, scarves and socks. The patterns are mostly on the more advanced end of the spectrum and give the knitter a chance to practice beautiful patterns and stitches while creating cozy collectible accessories.

This book has really nice hats, scarves, cowls, and socks. They are mostly all colorwork but there are a few solid color options as well. There are these beautiful Celtic socks I really want to make. The patterns are based on patterns from all over the world. Norway, Scotland, Estonia, Peru etc.

The patterns are well written and have full color pictures and both black and white and color charts. The book is not for a novice knitter but they are great for the person who is looking for a little adventure in their knitting.
