This is a very helpful tool that I have referred back to a few times since downloading. The information on various platforms, content ideas and other material is helpful for those just getting started in reviewing or looking to streamline their processes.

Although I am not new to reviewing books, I am new to the NetGalley platform. And as a recovering perfectionist, I wanted to get started on the right foot. NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit provided the perfect opportunity to begin learning some of the in’s and out’s of taking my reviewing, and book advocacy, to the next level.

This Toolkit was helpful in learning what should be included in my reviewer profile, as well as for tips on writing excellent book reviews and sharing them on social media. I thought the content planning tips were very helpful, as well as the overview of additional platforms for potentially reviewing books.

I believe anyone new to NetGalley, or who feels like they want to up their review game would benefit from the Toolkit. As a brand new member of NetGalley I found this Toolkit to be particularly helpful. What could have been hours worth of Googling, was distilled into a quick, but thorough guide that both provides enough information to get started, and a jumping off point for more seasoned book advocates to continue further research.

I recommend that all new members of NetGalley download this guide first thing, BEFORE beginning to browse for books to request! This guide will not only help up your game, but help you avoid some of the pitfalls that commonly beset new members!

Perfect guide for the do's and don'ts for anyone who is just started to use Netgalley and are terrified by the process, for already existing members who want to get the most out of their reviews. I did learn a thing or two especially about keeping your profile up to date not only by keeping on top of your book reviews but also your personal profile. But also the most important thing is to grab the audiences attention straight away at the top of the review.

Although I have been reading and writing reviews for years now, I find that there is always something new to learn. This is a helpful tool advising me of some ways to promote books in other ways such as “Bookstagram”. I have tried to post on Instagram but found it challenging. I now have some ideas on how to approach it again. I especially liked the reminder on how to stay on top of reviews. I am currently “catching up” desperately on past due reviews. Lots of great tips! Most of the intro material such as setting up an account and requesting titles was already familiar. Would appreciate more detail on interpreting denials (most are pretty generic and vague but specific examples or prompts for info to include) as well as possible prompts to use when writing reviews.
