The story follows Honatsu is a second year high school student who lost her memories six years ago. Rumors swirl around that she is dating her close friend Toma, and this makes her feel confused of her feelings toward him. While this is happening, she comes to meet Shun, who is a seemingly closed-off transfer student. It seems like this story is going to turn into a love triangle, and I am dying to see what happens next!

Thank you Kodansha and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Honatsu lost her memories and her father six years ago. In her pursuit to find missing parts of herself, she ends up also questioning if what she is feeling for two boys, a childhood friend and a transfer student, is love.

I think the best part of this manga so far is the characters. Honatsu has an incredibly pleasant personality but is also outspoken, which is refreshing to read. So far, as you might expect, this first volume sets up much of the plot but it looks like the story will definitely pick up momentum from here on out.

I would definitely recommend it.

Six years ago, an accident stole Honatsu’s memories and her father. Now she begins to question what it means to love while her heart’s being pulled in two different directions.

On one hand, her childhood friend, Toma, always manages to put her at ease. On the other hand, there’s the mysterious new transfer student, Shun, who encourages her step outside of her comfort zone and may be secretly tied to her accident.

As she tries to uncover her past, she navigates between these two relationships.

Falling Drowning, Vol. 1 by Yuko Inari is a bittersweet coming-of-age romance manga that brings a whole new meaning to falling in love. Inari has both a habit of physically falling, and on a figurative level, she’s falling in love with Shun (and maybe Toma as well.)

The mangaka does an excellent job of illustrating this through stunning visual allegory, which is honestly the highlight of the manga for me since I'm a suck for metaphors and cohesive themes.

Overall, Falling Drowning is an emotional and gorgeous mystery romance, and I’m curious to see how it unfolds.

Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC of this book
Highschool , love triangle , shojo , give me that !!
In this volume we are introduced to to our main character Honatsu Tenma, a high school student starting a new school year in the same class as her childhood friends Toma and Akine . And then new guy comes and have a connection to her past , which she does not remember :))
Art style was my favorite part , it was just so good.
The mystery behind memory loss made me continue the manga.
Also characters are intersting too , I'm pretty sure they are hiding something we are gonna find out in next volumes...

If premise interests you , give it a go .

I was worried this manga was just another love triangle with a basic love stories. I was wrong, really wrong.

The story starts giving you just the basic information about the characters: the loving and caring boy, the new students, the girl who interacts with both. Little did I know that the plot was going to move quickly to a past that I was not expecting.

I'm not gonna spoiler anything, because the best part of the story was realizing that what I thought was a general love story was really hiding a more deep and complicated plot. But I can say that the story is well written, engaging and has all the elements to become a great manga and now I am anxiously waiting for the next volume.

All in all, if you like love stories and plot written to surprise you, this story is for you. The characters are still pretty basic, but I think they will get deeper as the story keeps going. We will see!

THIS WAS SOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!

Like DUDEEEEE!!

I'm not even a fan of love triangles, but this is absolutely delicious!! I don't even know which guy I'm shipping because I like them both! LOL! (Granted, I THINK deep down, I am leaning towards one guy specifically, but will see!)

And the romance of wondering and learning how you're in love was EXCELLENT!! I really really really enjoyed how the mangaka captured those feelings so profoundly as the manga progressed!

And the mystery! It is woven in so casually and left me on edge of wondering what exactly happened!

And Honatsu! I LOVE her character!! I admire how she is wanting to stand on her own and be independent!

I am just in my feelings with this manga and definitely going to need to keep up on this because it is everything I hoped for and more!

So so so excited! I can't even remember the last time where I genuinely loved a love triangle like this! Hopefully the second volume releases sooner rather than later! Cannot wait!!

I can safely say that I had a good time reading this manga! I'm really looking forward to reading more. The characters felt natural with their unique dialogue. When you read a text, you can easily guess which character said it. And that displays good character creation. I was having a good time reading the manga overall. But when I read the "twist" on the main character, my attention doubled. I'm really looking forward to the future continuation of this manga. I definitely recommend!

This was a pleasant surprise! I'm always a little cautious about reading high school shojo because the storylines become so generic--and then predicable. Well, this one definitely breaks the mold! Our main character, Honatsu, wants to know what love is and she is in the midst of crushing on and being crushed on by childhood best friend Toma. Meanwhile, new transfer student in school, Shun, comes in and starts to change her perspective on what being in love means. There's a little bit of mystery involved too: Honatsu lost her memories when she was eleven and her father was involved in an accident in which he died--but might have been murdered?! Definitely intrigued to read volume 2!

I received a digital copy via NetGalley for review! ^^

I absolutely love this manga so far and am so stoked for volume 2! The main storyline of this manga is that the main protagonist has had amnesia and does not recall anything about what's occurred to her or two very important males in her life - Toma and Shun. She begins having feelings for both of them, which she cannot explain due to her amnesia, thus begins one of my favorite tropes: a love triangle!

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled waiting on the next volume in this series!

This was.... forgettable (haha, see what I did there?). I dunno, I was waiting for something interesting to happen, but it didn't. I was just sort of expected to care about these characters I knew nothing about. There were some cute moments, and I didn't hate it, but... I was a bit bored

I really liked the artwork for this one and the premise of it is just so interesting! They clearly aren't telling her something and I'm intrigued to see what it is and how she feels about it all.

I want to start by saying that the illustrations are stunning. The story also had me captivated. I love the characters, the dialog, the relationships. I really can't wait to read the next volume! I need to know more about the accident and the protagonists father.

This was a very nice first volume. In this manga, Honatsu starts her second year of high school two weeks later than everyone else because she had the flu. Thankfully, Akine and Toma are here to protect and help her. But there is also a new student who is two weeks late like her, Shun. There is quite a lot of mystery around the relationship between Shun and Honatsu. It feels like they have met before but we don’t know for sure. I also like how Toma and Shun incarnate different version of love, sometimes it feels like falling, and sometimes it’s an accumulation until you day you realise you’re in love. I will definitely read the next volume when it comes out.
I recommend to people who want a shojo with a bit of drama.
3.5/5

- I requested this book because I wanted to read it (and I love a lot of manga published by Kodansha), but had zero idea what I was getting into when I actually started reading it.

- Throughout the volume, the titular themes of falling and drowning come to light.

- Due to this volume only containing four chapters, the story does not go into much depth. I understand the importance of cliffhangers, but there is so little to go off that -- if I didn't love the amnesia + two potential love interests trope so much -- I wouldn't feel compelled to read the second volume. This is the reason for one less star.

- It feels as though the case may ultimately pan out to be more of a love square of some sort.

- The characters in Falling Drowning look like the characters in the author's other works, which makes me wonder if those other works are hints at what is come in this one, or if they're just her publicly fleshing the characters out.

- Considering my love for the artwork and the amnesia + two potential love interests trope, I will definitely continue reading this -- but I do dislike the shortness of this volume and how I now have to wait for what could be a whole 'nother year.

So it's high school romance Manga with love triangle and loss memories trope

I love the manga honestly, it's started soo good and it's was page turner, there is also hint of mystery so I can't wait to discover. I am not big fan love triangles but in manga it's was done really nicely.. The art style of manga it's breathtaking and I would love to have paper back, Manga definitely have few typical shoujo scene
Our main character Honastu has started her second year of high school and because of flu she missed week, when she started going she heard rumours that she is dating Toma her Childhood Guy friend,
There is transfer student Shun Tachibana, he is typical boy who don't talk with anyone and he like to stay alone, but Tachibana and Toma is old friends and I think there is hint that Tachibana was also used to friend with Honastu before she lost her memories in accident.
The storyline is very entertaining, every character are good maybe Toma is little bit over protective for Honatsu.and I am very curious about where the story is going..

I can't wait for next vol

This book is so cute!! I could not put it down and consumed it in one sitting! I LOVED IT! I am so keen to read the next volumes to find out exactly what happened in Honatsu’s past, and her journey of self love and growth. There is much mystery surrounding her accident and how the people around her have been by her side since, and how they’ve played a part in her recovery, and memories! I really enjoyed the characters relationships, their moments and the depiction of the different ways of finding and falling in love. This has been a beautiful beginning to this story, and I can’t wait to see how it goes! 5/5 an absolute sweet little joy

*I received this volume as an ARC, thank you so much!!!

As always thank you to Net Galley and Kodansha for allowing me to read the ARC of this manga!

In this manga, our main character is catching up at school after being absent due to illness. Upon her return, her childhood best friend is waiting for her and is looking out for her. She’s definitely close with him and you can tell there’s something there but she’s working on understanding whatever her feelings may be. She doesn’t want to assume she likes him, but she wants to understand herself and her emotions first.

She discovers there’s a new transfer student who also had been absent due to illness. She hopes they can maybe bond as she assumes he doesn’t know anyone at school. He brushes her off, but later we discover he is also good friends with her best friend! And we get a glimpse of her past. She suffered from some accident in the past that resulted in her memory loss issue. This new transfer student may be part of her past, but she doesn’t remember.

I really liked this new take on high school romance. The twist of her having memory loss really makes things interesting. I’m really looking forward to finding out what her history with Shun is and if they were actually a group of 4 friends instead of 3.

In this manga, we follow Honatsu, a high school student who has just returned back to school and is trying to live a normal life after the accident she has been through. However, Honatsu suffers from amnesia and has lost memories of a large part of her life. She can still remember her childhood friend, Toma who always seems so protective of her.

When Honatsu meets Shun Tachibana, a mysterious transfer student, she feels somewhat attracted to him. However, she doesn't know that Shun knew her before the accident. It's even possible that they might have been close friends. But, why does he keep pushing her away??!!!!!

I loved this manga. It was very intriguing. Can't wait to read volume 2.
