This is probably my favorite Jane Austen book. I could re-read it over and over. I will always love Mr. Darcy! Elizabeth is one of my all tome favorite heroines. I just love her playfulness. This audio version was awesome. It enhanced the story. I would definitely listen to it again. Thank you to NetGalley and Saga Egmont Audio for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Pride and Prejudice will forever and always be one of my absolute favorite books, and Darcy will absolutely and forever be the standard for me....“From the very beginning— from the first moment, I may almost say— of my acquaintance with you, your manners, impressing me with the fullest belief of your arrogance, your conceit, and your selfish disdain of the feelings of others, were such as to form the groundwork of disapprobation on which succeeding events have built so immovable a dislike; and I had not known you a month before I felt that you were the last man in the world whom I could ever be prevailed on to marry.” ... like are you kidding?

Needless to say I have read this book many times, but there is just something about this version that sent it over the top. I think that it was brilliantly done and truly transported you from just listening to fully being immersed in the world. LOVED.

This book is so timeless. Jane Austen is such an incredible, clever writer (possibly of all time).

The narration stood out to me as well. I enjoyed it most of the time, but Mrs. Bennett’s voice started to grate a bit.

The narrator, the story, everything is excellent. A must read for all readers. Though I wish the audio could have been a little louder and slowed. Great narration.

Adjoa Andoh was a great choice to narrate this classic. The raspy and sassy quality to her voice is perfect fit for the story. She used a lower pitched voice for Elizabeth, and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first but I think it works. She also uses northern accents for Darcy and Bingley, which I’m not sure how accurate that is. It makes them stand out at least. This probably won’t be my preferred audio adaptation, but if a reader is looking for something a little different, this is a great version to add to the collection.

I'm a big fan of other audiobooks narrated by Adjoa Andoh AND a big fan of Pride and Prejudice so I when I saw this edition pop up I was thrilled! As expected, I ADORED IT. Would highly recommend!

This was a FANTASTIC audio version of Pride and Prejudice. I expected Adjoa Andoh to be an incredible narrator, but she still exceeded my expectations. She brought such wit, warmth, and humour to her narration, and she brought Austen's words to life for me! I've purchased this one to keep.

Ultimately Elizabeth and Darcy discover the hard way that first impressions can’t possibly reveal the sum of who a person is and that forming intractable views based on them leads to unnecessary drama instead of happiness.

Since it took me forever to get around to finally reading Pride and Prejudice, I may be the last woman, girl, or romance reader in the universe to read this. (As much as it shames me to admit it!) But I finally did. And it was well worth the wait. I love the movie adaptations so much. I watch Pride & Prejudice 2005 so much that I was reciting some of the text along with the narrator. However, while listening, I had that one and Colin Firth’s in my head. I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing Austen’s full text of the novel. Austen’s use of language and vivid description drew me into her world, keeping me glued to her story from the first scene until the last. I wasn’t ready to leave this world. There’s so much more depth and detail that offers context and answers some questions I may have had while watching movies—which is what I love about reading novels after watching adaptations.

I feared the romance might not be as prominent in the book as in the films, but it’s there. I loved the relationship between Elizabeth and Darcy. Austen excellently develops the restrained emotion and passion of Elizabeth’s and Darcy’s relationship with subtlety and finesse. The attraction between them lurks beneath their assumptions, pride, and prejudice. Their tension-filled verbal sparring is entertaining, and their angst, pain, and longing reveal their connection’s intensity. They’re both so frustratingly stubborn. Elizabeth lives to jump to the absolutely wrong conclusion or assume the worst. Darcy’s so caught up in his head/world that he doesn’t think about what he’s saying before speaking. They’ll challenge each other daily. But they match just perfectly.

Adjoa Andoh’s English accent and cadence wonderfully set the tone with just the right pacing, placing Austen’s readers front and center in Derbyshire and Hertfordshire, England, for her classic tale. Andoh’s narration gives the characters distinct voices differentiating them from each other by personalities, temperaments, tone, and behavior. While her narration perfectly suits and captures the personalities of annoying characters like Mister Collins and Elizabeth’s mother, unfortunately, it doesn’t fit Elizabeth. Andoh’s narration makes Elizabeth sound mean, temperamental, and discourteous most of the novel. Elizabeth’s voice/narration is grating, and it’s frustrating because she’s your main POV character for the story’s emotional arc. But she doesn’t sound or feel like the Elizabeth I came to know and love from the movies. It’s the same for Darcy sometimes but not quite as irritating because Andoh captures his character’s general peevishness and standoffish “I’m judging you!” better with her narration and voice. Once I got past Elizabeth’s voice, making her feel a bit out of character more often than not and throwing me out of the story, I loved the novel.

Pride and Prejudice is a funny, angsty, sweet, witty, fascinating, thoroughly entertaining classical read featuring the quintessential enemies-to-lovers romance. While I don’t believe the narrator captured Elizabeth’s character or personality fully, she did a fantastic job with the other characters and the narrator’s role, making this audio worth a listen.

Beautiful narration of this classic, not a review of the book as such but I lived this audio, the narrator makes such a difference.

I have read Pride and Prejudice before, but it was when I was really young and didn't appreciate classics. This time around I absolutely loved it! I liked how the book gives more scenes and details to side characters that don't get as much attention in movie versions.

I was drawn to this new audiobook because I really like Adjoa Andoh in Bridgerton. She did an excellent job with the audiobook and made the listening experience really enjoyable. I didn't love the voice she used for Mrs Bennett because it was louder and more grating than the other characters, but I guess it works for her character.

I really love this version of the audiobook. I felt really engaged with the narrator. I always enjoy reading Pride and Prejudice. I love the characters and plot. I think that they are very well written. Jane Austen is such a talented writer. Once I got started it was hard to put down. It was kind of a quick read. I would have had to done sooner, but work and life got in the way.

Pride and Prejudice is a timeless classic that is an amazing read that never fails to entertain me. This is one of my favorite books that I always find myself returning to. This audiobook will not be an edition I revisit. Pride and Prejudice is so well known that I wont put much about it here instead I want to speak about this specific audiobook instead. This audiobook was so hard to get into I can honestly say I’ve never had to force myself to read a book so much. My issue with this rendition was the characters voices. Mrs Bennett and Kittys voice were so cringe worthy they gave me a headache. I then also had issues distinguishing between Elizabeth and Darcy the voice she used for them were near identical and I could see this being a major issue for a first time reader. I will say at the narration parts I really enjoyed the narrator voice it was relaxing and clear but as soon as I would hear Mrs Bennett voice I would cringe. I would like to thank Netgalley and the publishers a chance to read this book for an honest opinion.

Pride and Prejudice is a well-established novel, so I won't bother reviewing that. I will say that it's one of my favorites, and I've read it dozens of times but had never listened to an audiobook version.

This was a terrible listening experience.

When Adjoa Andoh, the narrator, was reading the narrative sections of P&P, it was fine; she had a lovely voice. What I did not like were the choices for character voices.

The one that stands out as most unlistenable is Mrs. Bennet. I understand the aspects of her character they were trying to convey with the voice, but I still want to be able to enjoy the book. It was loud, shrieky, and annoying, and I skipped past parts where Mrs. Bennet had more than one or two sentences to speak - which is quite a bit at the beginning of the novel.

Other characters, such as Elizabeth, were fine but didn't fit with my imaginings. In fact, I was worried I was being too harsh in my judgments because I've read the book and watched the movie and series so many times. Maybe the problem was I had too strong a vision in my head.

So, I listened to sections of other audiobook versions of Pride & Prejudice - from my library, on Audible, and on Scribd. Some had poor sound quality, but otherwise, they were perfectly tolerable. I tried to listen to about an hour of each one to get a fair comparison and felt it was safe to say I don't have an issue with readings of Pride & Prejudice. Just this edition of it.

If you're looking to listen to Pride & Prejudice, there are a plethora of much better options. Listen to one of those.

It's no secret that Pride and Prejudice is my favorite classic of all time, I go back to it and the adaptations every now and then because nothing makes me feel quite like this piece of literature.
So naturally when I saw there's an audiobook narrated by none other than Adjoa Andoh I clicked that request button so fast I almost made myself dizzy.

This was a delight, I won't say anything about the content because what could I possibly say about this masterpiece that hasn't been already said better; I will comment however on the narration which was pure perfection.
Ms Andoh's tone and accent and voices was everything and then some, I loved every second of it. I wish she'd narrate the rest of Jane Austen's books!

This is my second audiobook for this classic. If you read and enjoyed this story, you will even enjoy it more narrated. I only have an ARC , so the voice used will be different compared if I bought this audiobook (from what I understand). Nevertheless, the story was precisely narrated with changes in voice and tone, which gives more life to the story and gives tenderness to those heartwarming and heartbreaking moments.

I strongly recommend getting audiobbok for this classic lovestory.

Such a classic!! I can’t believe it took me this long to read this honestly, it was such a good listen via audiobook. The narration was absolutely amazingly done! I could probably listen to Adjoa Andoh narrate any book! I also checked out a digital copy of Pride and Prejudice from my local library to follow along at points, I found it really helpful. I definitely will be finding the movie to watch now as I have recently read reviews stating that the movie depicts the book beautifully.

This was not my first time reading or even listening to Pride and Prejudice, but I found this version so enjoyable. The narration is beautifully done and gives the story a bit of an updated feel while staying true to the original text and tone. I will be recommending this narration to friends and family.
