What a fab conclusion to the beloved YA series. I was sad to see it come to an end but felt it had a satisfying end. I will return to this series again and again.

I loved these books. Both of them were so good, so full of women power. I hope more and more people will reach for them. I will defo read more by the author.

“And, just like the fairytales from her childhood, there was a princess that needed saving and evil that needed defeating, and Lottie Pumpkin was there to make sure this story had a happy ending.”

Stepping back into the world of Rosewood Hall was remarkably different a second time. Everything that was established before has kind of been blown out of the water, as the three main characters have been forced to go their separate ways.
Having seen them relying on each other before, it was interesting to see them have to make their own decisions and their own mistakes. You could see what they truly wanted because you could see what they kept thinking back to. It was interesting to see the characters work with a different combination of characters, forcing them to forge new friendships and question attachments they may already have had.
There was a major plot to this book. It forced the characters to evaluate everything that had been established before. However, it honestly felt more about the characters than anything else.
I felt so sorry for Ellie. She was so used to disappointing that she would do anything - and trust anyone - to be liked. She couldn’t listen to her gut telling her things were wrong because that’s what has always gotten her into trouble before.
Lottie was as determined and loyal as ever. She’s smart and scared too, and that allowed her to follow her heart. I did like that, although she may have felt like her love of fairytales had lead her astray in the past, she learnt to embrace that whimsy again.
I enjoyed getting to see Jamie evaluate his choices. For so long he has wanted a family, but he got to explore whether he wanted the family he was given or the family he chose.
Also, I don’t know where to put this but it feels an important review point: EVERY CHARACTER WAS GAY. I’m really not sure there was a token straight.
Although I didn’t always reach for this when I was reading it, I don’t think it was a fault of the book. I really enjoyed it when I did pick it, having read half of it in one go last night.
If you want a cute, easy-to-read book with a bit of everyday magic, I still think this series may be for you.

At long last, the finale... It seems like I've been waiting forever to find out what will happen to the wonderful characters, Lottie, Ellie and Jamie. And this book really did not disappoint! All three main characters have great story arcs and it all leads to a very satisfying ending which I did not expect at all! Just as thrilling and gripping as the previous books in the series.

Disclaimer: I have only read the first book in the series before starting this one. I know that I’m missing bits and pieces but the author has done a wonderful job to explain the major events from previous books and I could understand the whole story. Reading the first book did help with understanding the world.

Ellie, Lottie, and Jamie have been apart from each other for a while at the beginning of the book and they feel the loss of their friends. None of them is themselves and they try to mask what they feel and who they are. Only by realising both of these things, they’ll gain the strength to overthrow the evil plan of the Leviathan rebels, led by Claude. It was great to see how their friends, new and old, stand by them.

The book skips a lot of empty hours, covering a whole school year with more than three points of view, which increases the pace but it also made me feel like there might be interesting events we missed, crucial for character growth. But after having finished the book, it all made sense. The ending was well done, building towards the climax and increasing the stakes more and more. It’s a good wrap up for a series where everything comes together.

Can we have more dresses with secret sword compartments? Asking for a friend.

I give Princess Ever After five stars. It’s a great ending to the series and it had everything I could want. Every thread has been tied up and the epilogue brought me to tears. It’s definitely a series I could re-read every few years.

This was the best ending to the series that anyone could have asked for! I’ve enjoyed reading all five books in the series and I can’t wait to pass them down to my god daughter when she’s old enough to start them. She’s going to love them just as much as I did!

Princess Ever After took the potential that was evident in the first book and transformed it into a book that was an enjoyable read from start to finish. Just as we see the main trio growing into themselves, it feels as though the story itself has also matured into itself – embracing the tropes, the fairy tale influences and turning up the emotional stakes and impact. I certainly found myself enjoying the characters a lot more this time around, perhaps because of the growth – but also because of the arcs, they go through within this book which is a rollercoaster of emotions. Ellie’s journey was perhaps my favourite of the three, but I do feel that all three were truly allowed to shine in this book, and I liked how the relationships ended up.

Also, I have to give props to Princess Ever After for the LGBTQIA+ representation. It was well done, and the exploration was handled well, and it’s certainly a story I would have loved to have read when I was younger for that very reason. I also have to shout out the fact that there is very much a feel of found family in this book, which is one of my favourite tropes.

Glynn’s writing is stronger in this one, and she does an excellent job of weaving in the whimsy and feel of the fairy tale and balancing it with the romance and action. I will say that the pacing was the main issue that I had with this one, particularly towards the end where events felt rather rushed, although time was taken for the things that really mattered, but I do think that overall the book could have benefited from being longer.

The characters have grown and developed, both as individuals and in terms of their relationships which helped push this book towards YA, but it does still feel as though it falls on the younger end of the scale and more towards middle grade.

This was an entertaining and quick read and a welcome bit of lightness. Princess Ever After was a great way to end this series, and although some of it was a little predictable it didn’t stop it from being enjoyable. A great read though for anyone who loves whimsy and fairy tales and romance, and for someone who needs to be whisked away for a little while.

Thanks to #thewritereads for making this book available to me as part of the blog tour.

Oh the magic of love, family and friendship!
I have to start by saying that I have only read the first book in the series and it made me slightly confused going into this book but once I got back into it and the characters that I fell in love with in book one, I knew exactly where I stood and what was happening.

Basically Lottie is no longer the Ellie's Portman and they have split up with Lottie returning back to Rosewood and Ellie to another posh school in Maradova. This where things really kick off with Lottie finding out that a deadly plan/an assassination of the current King and Queen would happen at Golden Flower Festival. She and her friends device a plan to thwart the assassination which they think is Jamie's father's plan. This is where we also get a bit more about Jamie's feelings for Lottie and Ellie's feelings for Lottie. No it is not a love triangle it is a Straight line. I will not go to much into it because I don't want to spoil this book any more.

This book was a nice conclusion based on the events of book one. I loved the way fairy-tale was weaved with reality and magic. It was such a quick and easy read, I do have to say that some of the reveals that we had in this book were things that I guessed in the first book which just made it easier for me to get into this book.

While our characters have grown a lot from the first book, you still feel like they are still 14, I mean that is one of the things that struck me as strange but what do I know about teenagers these days. With that said, this book would technically be suitable for middle grade to younger adults (11 - 15 and other).

I got to one part of the book and I had to note it down, everyone is queer and I love that for them. It was cool to see them explore their sexuality without it consuming their whole life and it being a reason for hate. I loved that. It is the kind of peace that I wish for queer people!

I will preface I have only read book 1 in this series before jumping into this book. I do feel I did suffer a little by not reading the others. While the book does a really good job of introducing what had happened in the rest of the series I felt I didn’t have as much emotional connection to the characters that would have built up over the series.

This was a really nice conclusion to what was started in book 1. I really enjoyed how it resolved but I just felt it was missing the detail and adventure of book 1. It all seemed a little rushed while also not very much happening overall. It felt a little predictable. Even though I hadn’t read the rest of the series, I had somewhat saw the ending unfolding the way it did, including what probably seemed like some major reveals for other books in the series, I had guessed them all by the end of book 1 and that was a little underwhelming. I just didn’t find myself shocked or thrilled by any of the outcomes. They felt very contrived to give the perfect princess happy ending despite the message of the book being completely different. I kind of wanted more.

On the other hand I really liked the LGTQIA+ rep in this book. I liked how it was explored and how the potential Love triangle was resolved. I did enjoy the characters, I do think they are very well developed and I liked that there was evident growth in their personalities from book one. I still think this very much occupies the 11-14 age group which is not as well provided for by the YA and children’s markets, despite the ages of the main characters.

Overall, this was a cute fun and fast read that I enjoyed. I just wanted that little bit more of a punchier ending.

Princess Ever After, book five in the Rosewood Chronicles series, is just as delightful (if not more!) than its previous four predecessors. Brimming with LGBTQIA+ representation (something that I'm really loving seeing in middle grade fiction recently!), the found family trope (one of my all-time favorite tropes!), and royal mishaps galore, this is a tween series that I would easily recommend for fans of The Princess Diaries movies.

I'm looking forward to reading more of Connie Glynn's books in the future!

A nice but rather predictable ending to the series in my opinion. I liked the characters, there is LGBTQ representation, friends-to-lovers and found family trope but in the end it was not as special as I had hoped. Still, if you like the series, it's surely worth reading.

I loved this series and so sad to see it end, but in a good way, well I did cry at the end !
As always I found it to be an addictive page turner, I can’t stop reading to see what happens next, the characters are so fantastic and I just wanted to see them get the end they deserve after all they’ve been through. Overall, it was a beautiful story and series, I look forward to future series and books from Connie Glynn

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

Unfortunately I won’t be carrying on with this series after not enjoying the first one.

I just think I’m too old for this series and definitely not the target audience.

PRINCESS EVER AFTER is a cosy hug of a book, and the best of THE ROSEWOOD CHRONICLES.

What an entertaining and enjoyable final book in the series. The novel opens with Lottie, Ellie and Jamie on their separate paths. Lottie, in particular, is most torn between the shattered pieces of her friendships with Ellie and Jamie and desperate to reunite them and save them from themselves. Belonging and finding yourself is an important theme of EVER AFTER and it serves the story well, and each of the trio go through a rollercoaster of emotions, culminating in a satisfying arc of growth.

My only large qualm about this book is that it was too short! And I'm not just saying that as a fan who wants more. There's no stopping to smell the roses or savour the moments as scenes power through all the interesting parts in favour of faster pace. In this case here I didn't think it was a detriment to the plot, exactly, only that everything went so quickly that we leave the world of ROSEWOOD practically the same blink as we entered it. There was plenty of opportunity to explore the depths of characters and their relationships, build Maradova as a country and culture a little more, better understand the history of the royal family or the Partizans, but this space isn't utilised.

To end on a high note though, I really enjoyed Glynn's prose here. Yes, it didn't rip open the scenes as much as I would have wanted, and as much as would've been beneficial to the story, but Glynn's writing is efficient and does the job. It's so satisfying to see how much it's improved since the first book!

THE ROSEWOOD CHRONICLES hasn't always been good, but its charm, whimsy and non-topical inclusivity is what made it so much fun, and PRINCESS EVER AFTER manages to reach a balance of sweetness with storytelling skill and enjoyable prose. It is a sheer delight from start to finish, and even though it's very rare for me to think about a book after I close the last page, I know that I'll remember PRINCESS EVER AFTER, and THE ROSEWOOD CHRONICLES, for many years to come.

Would very much like to get the paperback boxset, if one ever comes out, too (hint, wink PRH?).

Wow, just wow.
Princess Ever After is the fifth and final instalment of the Rosewood Chronicles and it was a journey, we have all loved these characters since Undercover Princess was released in 2017 and after 5 years it's time to say goodbye (I may have shed a few tears at that epilogue).
You always worry when a series you love ends, will the book do it justice? and I can definitely say it did that and more! These characters have really been through it so they deserve this ending so much but they still had a bit more to go through in this book before they got that ending. I was constantly turning the page because it was so gripping and I just didn't want to put the book down.
Overall, it was a beautiful way to end such a loved series and I love how the books grew with its audience! I can't wait to see what Connie does next.

I really enjoyed this book. All of the characters were so fun and I enjoyed the way that it all played out. Jamie has been reunited with his father, but his feelings are changing and he's not sure of much anymore, other than the fact that Claude has always been the one in the right and that he needs Lottie. Ellie is forced to go to a new, drab, school that couldn't be more different from Rosewood. She's surrounded by rumors that never seem to go away, even when she tries to do things correctly. Lottie is back at Rosewood for her last year, She's not looking forward to going back without her friends and she's not sure how to survive this year. I loved the plot twists and the way that the story unfolded. It's so diverse and I love every part of it. This is such a great book!
